No One Loses Weight Like Gaston - November 2015 W.I.S.H Challenge

I'm hitting my exercise goal and laying off of lots of the junk I used to eat but I must be stuck on a plateau because the weight just isn't coming off. Oh well...I'll just keep exercising and hope to make some slow steady progress I guess! Happy Friday everyone.

I snuck a peek at the scale this morning and didn't like what I saw. Nothing major but I knew it wouldn't be great. I had a pretty crappy week and stress ate a couple of days which torpedoed the progress I was making. But today I'm back at it and I'm hoping that by eating the right number of points and working out that I can at least make this week a no gain - no loss. Thank goodness it's Friday!

Morning all! Heading out to WDW in about 3 hours so I wanted to check in before I am adrift in my Disney bubble.

Not a good week as I started feeling like I was getting a cold Wednesday night and that COULD NOT happen with this weekend being a Disney weekend! I was taking my herbal remedies but my body was craving sleep and food so I gave in. I may be justifying but I felt like my body needed energy to fight what was coming. Portion sizes went out the window, but at least I was stuffing myself with veggies and proteins rather than junk. Happy to report that I feel scores better today and ready for the weekend. But unfortunately the scales didn't reward me the way my immune system did.... Oh well!

@JacknSally Thanks for sharing the link to your pictures! I looked through them last night and it looks like you had an amazing Disneymoon!!!! Loved the pirate costumes -- and you're right-- those Illuminations pictures are awesome!!!

IT'S TIME FOR FRIDAY FUN!

It's time to change things up a bit. On Fridays we will make the topic about DISNEY since we are all (hopefully) fans of Disney.

What is your favorite ride in all of Disney? Why is it your favorite?
To make it easier, you can take one ride in each Disney park and talk about why it's special.

Side note to everyone: Your weigh-in numbers are due to me no later than Sunday. You can post the responses in this thread or you can message me directly.

:cheer2:Let's see some BIG percentages this week when I get results posted. :cheer2:

My favorite ride by park:
AK - Expedition Everest
EC - Soarin'
MK - Splash Mountain
DHS - Tower of Terror
My favorite in all of WDW - Tower of Terror
Everything about TOT is great! The queue is great, the CMs are great, the backstory is great, the preride show is great and the ride itself is great. I just don't see how it could be any better.

It's hard to pick just one ride for MK! That's my all-time favorite park.

Epcot: Soarin' - I love the music!
AK: Expedition Everest - The queue is so fun and there are really only a handful of rides I like at AK. It's not my fave park.
DHS: Toy Story Midway Mania - Because last vacation I beat all my family members so basically I rock. ;)
MK: Haunted Mansion

Walt Disney World
  • Magic Kingdom: People Mover
  • EPCOT: Spaceship Earth
  • Animal Kingdom: Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Hollywood Studios: There are only 3 parks at WDW. This one doesn't exist, much to the dismay of @JacknSally who loves it! ;)
Magic Kingdom is a special park because it's stuck in a time bubble of 1971. Many of the attractions that Disneyland once had are still at MK, which makes it super special for us when we go. I love the People Mover and I wish that Disneyland would bring it back. Having the track just sit empty above Tomorrowland is sad/pathetic. All of EPCOT's attractions are amazing but I adore Spaceship Earth - you get to go inside the golfball! And the Kilimanjaro Safaris are awesome because each ride is different - the animals roam around and you never know what to expect.

Disneyland
  • Disneyland: Casey Jr Train
  • California Adventure: Voyage of the Little Mermaid

I love the Casey Jr train at Disneyland. It's a relaxing ride where you can see the storybook boat ride without waiting in the long line AND get a view of fantasyland. If you sit in the back of the caboose it's a wide open view and so much fun! As for California Adventure, we love the little mermaid ride. Hubs and I sing through the entire thing and dance. It's stupidly enjoyable.

Disneyland Paris
  • Disneyland Paris: Phantom Manor
  • Walt Disney Studios: Ratatouille attraction
It's unbelievable how fantastic phantom manor is at Disneyland Paris. From the music to the story, the entire attraction is just amazing. I just recently learned that the music box theme is used in the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay at Disneyland - which is why it sounded so familiar when we rode it. As for Walt Disney Studios, the Ratatouille attraction is so technology superior to any other attraction at a Disney theme park. I'm surprised it hasn't been adapted for any of the USA parks -- it's use of 3D screens to the magnetic/trackless cars is awesome. We loved it.

I got wordy. I guess I don't want to work on a Friday :)

My favorite rides:
MK: Big Thunder Mountain - I might have said Space, but for 2 years now, every time I've gone, its been broken down:(
EPCOT: Soarin - mostly for the orange smell, when Horizons was around, it was my favorite.
DHS: Tough toss up between Star Tours - for the joy it brings my son and Rock'n Roller Coaster because I love roller coasters (though not with the scale)
AK: Everest!

We can post tomorrow right? I have a very early race Sunday and then a busy day all day. I am thinking it would be better to post Saturday, otherwise I'm likely to forget until around 9 PM Sunday night, and that is a depressing time to weigh myself;) If I remember after my race I'll repost if its different.

LOVE, love, love this QOTD! Especially since I had a rough-week (diet and exercise wise) and am NOT feeling up to being all chatty about being healthy!!

Favorite ride in all of Disney??? Hmmmm.... I'm going to go out on a limb and say Soarin'. Love it! I first saw it in California on our amazing trip out west in 2005 (still the BEST TRIP EVER!!) and fell in love with it there.... and got super excited that it came to Florida!! I will put up with the lines to see it multiple times during a visit. DD secretly video-taped the entire ride on her phone last time we went and included in a movie she made me.... and I STILL tear up every time! The scent of orange or pine can have me waxing poetic about the LOVE I have for Soarin'!!

But...... if we can name a favorite in EVERY PARK..... I'm going to say that Soarin' in my favorite in DCA park..... and IASW is my favorite in DL..... so CLASSICALLY, ICONICALLY DISNEY! I can IMAGINE Walt riding it!

Out here in the East coast.... Animal Kingdom..... Kilimanjaro Safari! It really has the FEEL of an African Safari (not that I've ever been on a real safari... but I can imagine!). And the live animals make it a different ride every time! I do love EE, but I can only ride it once or twice without feeling super sick.... the "backwards-in-the-dark" gets me every time!

DHS (or whatever the heck we are calling it now!!)..... I'll say RnR! I could ride that over and over! I feel so crazy wild when I ride it.... like a bad *ss!! Love the Aerosmith music pumping into my ears!

Epcot...... well, since I already named the Soarin' in California as my favorite there, I'll pick something different in Epcot..... I mostly adore Epcot for World Showcase and I don't think of it as much of a "ride" park... so I'll go with Test Track! My kids LOVE it and we always have so much fun riding it!!

Magic Kingdom..... hmmmmm..... tough one! SO MANY it is hard to choose..... there are favorites I remember riding when the kids were LITTLE.... and others that we rode as a family and still others that were "favorites" when I took my Mom/Kid trips! Hmmm..............

honestly..... I cannot decide.... top 5 include.... BTMRR, Splash Mtn, Under the Sea [the new(er) Ariel ride in the expanded Fantasyland], CoP, Mickey's Philharmagic.... I think!

Phew..... that was tougher than I thought! And I'm POSITIVE I will rethink it later tonight and have some new answers! ...................P

pjila, that cracks me up- but I feel the same!! Bad *ss riding my fav in DHS -- RnR, lol! Love ToT, too.
MK -- Space Mountain. I agree with you, CourtneyBeth, this park is so special because of the nostalgia factor - can't go to MK without going on CoP.
AK-- Expedition Everest
Epcot-- Soarin'

Report: Went to my WW meeting today ( tracking weekly attendance) -- my first ever November meeting in my 16 year on again/off again WW relationship. Turns out many people opt out of meetings this time of year; WW has a promotion for weekly attendance for the next 6-8 weeks. So I'm at 25% of my monthly goal/100% for weekly.

Have a great weekend, everyone!!!:dogdance:

I have listened to the Phantom Manor ride audio multiple times through a streaming app and I want to ride it so badly!! It sounds amazing. I'm so jealous that you've been!

Just a very brief check in to report my first week result. Am down nearly a pound and can report 18% towards my goal!

Am away this weekend with some girlfriends at a spa resort. Hopefully I will be strong and not go too far off track!

I lost a pound this week.
My favorite ride is soaring at Epcot. I just love this ride I could ride it all day. My family use to give me their fast passes ( before stupid fastpass change)so I could ride it again and again.
Magic kingdom- Peter pan ride because it reminds me of the only good thing in my childhood.
Hollywood studios- Tower of terror love the dropping part.
Animal Kingdom=expedition everest- I like to scare myself.
Good luck everyone with their weigh in.

Bad Week! I've been binging at night for three nights. I even made "unhealthy" cookies last night and ate seven of them. I'm up a pound. And...I felt like "crap" terrible stomach ache! It's just so awful when you are in that space of being out of control. I hate it, yet I keep going back for more! Not to worry....getting back on track today. Will report back next week....just to let folks know if I made it through the weekend.

RIDES: MK: Haunted Mansion....I just love that ride! I'm a big horror fan and I just love the creepy atmosphere and the cool ghosts! But....I also love Carousel of Progress....I enjoy singing the song!
Epcot: Soarin' of course....I love flying over the earth...it's like I'm a bird.
HS: Star Tours....I'm not a thrill rider at all....hate Tower of Terror and all of the roller coasters...but love simulated rides like Star Tours.
AK: K. Safari....love animals! And love the Lion King Show! Love all the Shows really!
There's really so many others that deserve an honorable mention...The Great Movie Ride, Pirates of the Caribbean, Kali River Rapids, Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Test Track!

WOOHOO on being IN THE CHAIR at a WW meeting in November!! Can't wait to see you get excited about your BLING after you complete your All About Me challenge!:yay:

I'm so sorry about this..... why is it so DARN hard to pull ourselves "away from the edge" sometimes?? We KNOW we shouldn't be doing what we are doing.... but somehow we do it anyhow. Makes you stop and REALIZE why it is so hard to make PERMANENT changes (to our weight AND to our habits)! But you can see what happened and are prepared to get back on track.... just remember to make NOTE of what went wrong and what you will do different next time!

RIDES: MK: Haunted Mansion....I just love that ride! I'm a big horror fan and I just love the creepy atmosphere and the cool ghosts! But....I also love Carousel of Progress....I enjoy singing the song!

I agree with the "honorable mention" quote...... really hard to pick one favorite.......... I tried to stick to just RIDES and not SHOWS or PARADES (in case that is a question for later in the month), but I ended up naming two shows in my top 5 too!!

****************************

Hi friends! As expected I had a small gain this week.... but very small and I won't beat myself up over it because that won't help..... but I KNOW I need to PULL MYSELF away from the edge like some of our other friends! We are in the HOME STRETCH of 2015 and I REFUSE.... REFUSE... to go into the holiday season ABOVE my maintenance goal! And with DD coming home in December I KNOW I will be making lots of her favorite meals and it will be hard to do more than MAINTAIN in December!!

I was up early this morning (for a Saturday) and pulled out my recipe binders. I'm going to head into the WW recipe builder and calculate a few of my new recipes to try this month (why have a full binder of them if I never try them!?). Plus I'll concentrate on making some DOUBLE BATCHES for the freezer so that I have some free time during the holidays to RELAX and enjoy time with DD!!

I am also hoping to spend some time..... (drumroll please.....) at my SCRAPBOOK TABLE TODAY!! Whoo..... what happened? My font and font size suddenly changed! Weird!

Anyhoooo..... DS is at a Model UN event all day and DH is heading to Massachusetts to visit his brother and his mom..... so I have most of the day to myself! Woohoo on that! Of course, there is the usual complement of laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and dirty bathrooms to contend with..... but I will, at least, clean OFF the table! It still has halloween costume remnants on it.:teeth:

Off to hang the first load of laundry and eat breakfast...... ovenight crockpot steel cut oats with apple! MMMMM...... I haven't made this in ages and I am looking forward to it!

TTYL.....................P

Never had a good week this week. I will weigh tomorrow, and I am pretty sure I have gained. On to next week and hopefully a little lighter on the scales. Gotta get back to clean eating which is how I lost 72 lbs since January of this year.

Yesterday I worked really hard to drink lots of water, keep myself within my points values and I also got a very good 40 minute workout in at the gym. I'm pleased that I lost 1 pound this week which is 20% to goal.

I have mapped out what I'm eating for the weekend in hopes that I'll stick with it but I really struggle with weekend eating. Example - today I know that I'm going to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. I'm going to try to resist the chips completely because I can't ever limit myself to just 11 or whatever a serving size is. So fingers crossed that this will be a good weekend! Happy weigh-in everyone!
