No One Loses Weight Like Gaston - November 2015 W.I.S.H Challenge

My heart is heavy for the people and city of Paris tonight. It is my favorite city in the entire world - home to so many special memories - and I'm just sad at yet more violence. Praying for peace.

Hey friends! SURPRISE, SURPRISE.... I have the day OFF! WOOT, WOOT! I'm going to make the most of it with laundry, cooking, cleaning.... and catching up with you all!! BB in a minute with some replies!..............P

No on deserves a day off more!

I'm planning on doing some damage on my Disney Trip and picking up the pieces when I return. I'm not sure this should be allowed. What do you folks think? Is it just contributing to the cycle?

This is a hard one. I don't think letting loose a bit or even a lot on vacation is necessarily contributing to the cycle. But it is all relative. If you vacation for a week or two a year (or only consider one vacation as "free" eating time) and know you'll get back to normal as soon as you return, I think it falls under fully living life. But if there is a vacation every month or a vacation is going to lead to months of extra snacks and treats, it is probably better to put some rules in one place.

I also think Disney parks are a great place to indulge. The extra walking helps burn off some extra calories, the treats are great for sharing, and most of the restaurant meals are not so good that they must be finished (and can be shared as well). Plus they are one of the few places in the world that won't bat an eyelash if you order a kid's meal because you are trying to save room for yet another Dole whip.

Weighed this morning. Down the two pounds I gained last week plus one more! Let's see what Sunday's weigh in will bring!

Woohoo!

Finished the 5K race - posted my best time to date. I'm at around a 14.5 minute mile with a finish time of 44:47! :)

I managed to shave 3.5 minutes off my total time. Yeah! :woohoo:

Question of the Day - November 13

IT'S TIME FOR FRIDAY FUN!
It's time to change things up a bit. On Fridays we will make the topic about DISNEY since we are all (hopefully) fans of Disney.

Today's Topic: Magic Bands.

What do you think of them? How do you select your color?
Have you upgraded to a customized/designed magic band? Do you decorate them yourself?
Anything else you want to add about the bands?

.

I haven't been lucky enough to have a magic band yet. If by some miracle, we manage to salvage it, the April trip will be my first experience with them. Honestly, I'm a little freaked out by them. I can't stand wearing jewelry other than my wedding rings or watches of any sort and I worry that I will fiddle with the magic band so much that I lose it. I'm also pretty much a Luddite and never even allowed charge-to-room features with my Key to the World card.

I'll probably pick pink for me (favorite color) and either red or blue for DH. Unlikely to upgrade/customize or decorate. Hopefully I'll come around and love them! And love FP+ too. Honestly, at this point, I'll love anything they throw at me so long as I get to go!!

Adding a few more of you on Instagram. I never post myself but I love to follow! Cute people, cute babies, cute cats, cute dogs, food, and Disney! Who doesn't love Instagram?

WE LOVED OUR MAGIC BANDS!! They were SO COOL and I'm not even a little embarrassed to admit that I got pathetically excited every time I got to use a tapstile for FP and make the Mickey head light up :rotfl: SO sad when nothing at home lit up when I touched my magic band to it HAHA. Mine was yellow because it was bright and fun - blue is my favorite color but the blue band was too dark for my liking. DH got a grey band because they didn't have black, haha. We were technically offsite so we bought ours and it was so worth it! I didn't end up having time to decorate ours but I had fully intended to paint mine with glow in the dark nail polish. I recommend wearing a hair band on your wrist under the magic band - I messed with mine constantly and took it off and on many times because it would get sweaty and become sticky and uncomfortable and I'd reach the point I couldn't stand it being on my wrist for a while.

Yes, yes, please follow me on Instagram! I shall follow you back!!! I'm mnsmith89 (megan.s.legett) :cool1: Be prepared for lots of random pictures... Food, selfies, landscapes, my dog, swanchos (as @courtneybeth has already witnessed :rotfl:).....

I second @DisPup75 's mention of Paris... Many, many prayers for any and all who have any connection whatsoever to this terrible event. There is going to be a tribute at France in EPCOT tomorrow. Many guests will be bringing flowers to place at the fountain. So wish I could be there to contribute.

We received our sneak peek photos from our wedding photographer today, and I am SO THRILLED with them!!! If any of you who trooped through October with me (and even if you didn't!) would like to see them, here is the link! http://elsyphotography.net/megan-and-josh-sneak-peeks/ I think it's so funny how these pictures don't even begin to convey all the stress of the past few months, and even that morning... That we were 2.5 hours behind schedule... Or that the venue placed a large blue dumpster right in the middle of our ceremony spot, so my husband chained it to the back of his truck and dragged it off behind a building....:laughing::laughing::laughing: Goodness. So glad that now we can look back on so much and just laugh!

@JacknSally -- your pictures are GORGEOUS. Everything about your ceremony is beautiful - I love how simple and elegant your wedding was. Perfection! :D

We absolutely adore our Magic Bands - it just made everything so much easier! Now, it is really simple to loose track of exactly how much you're spending, but this next trip we have quite a few Disney gift cards we're going to use to hopefully pay off most of our charging balance. Plus, our honeymoon was kind of our no holds barred, buy whatever kind of trip. Most of the time we are a little more aware of our spending :P

I got blue the first time because it was closest to purple, but last time I got green to change it up. Most of the others don't really appeal to me, but I do like that they let you put anything (almost) for the name! I got one that had Mrs with my new last name on it for the honeymoon, and I just love looking at it :)

I'm seriously considering upgrading to a customized one at the new place in Tomorrowland. We're going down for a couple of days in December, and with a weekend trip in late January and a week planned in May, I think that the customized one would be more worth it than it might be in other years. Plus, they have purple apparently! I've been wanting that forever! This reminds me that I may have to insist we head to MK when we get down there, otherwise I'll only have the new band for the last day of our trip :P And that would just be sad!

Also, in other non magic band news, my scale finally moved in the right direction today!

I'm basically back where I started, but I'm hoping there's a little movement between today and tomorrow. We'll see!

So beautiful!!! I know pictures lie but it really looks like the day went off without a hitch! Other than the getting hitched part. I apologize for bad puns. It is still early

These are beautiful! All that planning and stress you went through totally paid off because your wedding was gorgeous! And I know it's not necessarily fun in the moment but looking back it is kinda funny to have the memories of what went wrong! Because not many people can say their wedding went off without a hitch. I know I can't!

My heart is quite sad for the people of Paris as well. That is beautiful that they are doing a tribute in EPCOT. I wish I could be there too.

But on a happy note- Your pictures are absolutely stunning!!! I love the fall-ness of it. Just beautiful.

As for weigh in, I am positively speechless this morning. I'm 58% towards my goal-- which is a nice change of pace considering last week I was only 4%. I guess upping my activity is helping my metabolism get in gear or something. That or there was a gravitational shift in my house over night... Either way I'm happy. Progress is happening! Also super excited because today's weight marks 10 lbs down since I started this journey 2 months ago. CRAZY. I think it's so slow and never coming off until I see a mile stone like that.

Sending happy thoughts and pixie dust to everyone's scales this weekend.

Week 2: Weigh In

Pounds lost: 2 of 6
Percentage of Goal: 33%

So far I've managed to stay really on target this month: First 5K was under 45 minutes and I've had 2 weeks where I went above the 70,000 step mark. Yay!

I'll post the Trivia Question of the Weekend later this evening. I'm late for an MBA team meeting :)

Question of the Weekend - November 14 & 15

Disney Trivia Questions!

Today's topic: DISNEY DOLLARS
1. Which Disney character signs as "Treasurer" on the front of each bill?
2. Where can you purchase Disney Dollars?
3. Name 3 characters who have been on Disney Dollars

Well, after a really abysmal week last week - not sure if the weight fluctuation was due to poor choices or hormones or what - I finally had a budge on the scale!

I'm at 145.4 as of this week. In terms of my goal from the beginning of the month, it's not great. Only 7% of my total goal. However, compared to my highest weight of last week at 147.4 (for whatever reason), it's pretty awesome!

I'm planning on really watching my calories again this week - a day of being quite strict with them in anticipation of eating out seemed to work well. It was hard, but I had to keep in mind that we were going to be eating a really calorie-dense meal at the end of the day. I'm also hoping to continue the walking in the morning streak. That really helps me get my steps in and keep active on days that are a lot busier in the afternoon.

Hope everyone else had a great week and weekend!

3. Name 3 characters who have been on Disney Dollars

Hmm, I've never seen Disney dollars so I'm just going to try to make some guesses.

1. Uncle Ebeneezer. Scrooge McDuck? He seems like one that would be in charge of the money.

2. Disney Stores. And maybe the Bank on Main Street. Is there a bank on Main Street?

3. Mickey, Minnie, and Donald Duck. Hopefully Disney is progressive enough to include a woman!

The update! Back down to 201.4. That leaves me still at a negative for the month so far (O% for update purposes). I'm happy though because at least most of the flu weight is gone.

I'm pretty sure that I can't lose 9.4 pounds in two weeks, particularly with a Thanksgiving near the end, so I should probably revise my goal. I think I'm going to leave it alone now. Maybe it will serve as inspiration to finish strong! And if I get to 50%, I'll be over the moon.

I sterilized the bedroom yesterday and took advantage of the opportunity to switch to the winter bedding. Oh giant cloud of a down comforter, how I've missed you! Now off to the grocery for soup fixings and a housewarming gift!

3. Name 3 characters who have been on Disney Dollars

1. Scrooge McDuck
2. I*think* they're now just available in WDW and Disneyland. I know I bought mine at our local Disney Store years ago, but haven't seen them recently.
3. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy

Checking in. Can't find a scale at my hotel, so I'm using my pre trip weigh in from Wednesday. It was stable from last weekend, so I'm still at 37.5% of my goal.

My weigh in this week was 274.4, which was my starting weight, giving me a 0% overall. My hormones definitely played a part this week, and I'm heading back on track this upcoming week :)
