No One Loses Weight Like Gaston - November 2015 W.I.S.H Challenge

WOOHOO on being IN THE CHAIR at a WW meeting in November!! Can't wait to see you get excited about your BLING after you complete your All About Me challenge!:yay:

I agree with the "honorable mention" quote...... really hard to pick one favorite.......... I tried to stick to just RIDES and not SHOWS or PARADES (in case that is a question for later in the month), but I ended up naming two shows in my top 5 too!!

****************************

Hi friends! As expected I had a small gain this week.... but very small and I won't beat myself up over it because that won't help..... but I KNOW I need to PULL MYSELF away from the edge like some of our other friends! We are in the HOME STRETCH of 2015 and I REFUSE.... REFUSE... to go into the holiday season ABOVE my maintenance goal! And with DD coming home in December I KNOW I will be making lots of her favorite meals and it will be hard to do more than MAINTAIN in December!!

I was up early this morning (for a Saturday) and pulled out my recipe binders. I'm going to head into the WW recipe builder and calculate a few of my new recipes to try this month (why have a full binder of them if I never try them!?). Plus I'll concentrate on making some DOUBLE BATCHES for the freezer so that I have some free time during the holidays to RELAX and enjoy time with DD!!

I am also hoping to spend some time..... (drumroll please.....) at my SCRAPBOOK TABLE TODAY!! Whoo..... what happened? My font and font size suddenly changed! Weird!

Anyhoooo..... DS is at a Model UN event all day and DH is heading to Massachusetts to visit his brother and his mom..... so I have most of the day to myself! Woohoo on that! Of course, there is the usual complement of laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and dirty bathrooms to contend with..... but I will, at least, clean OFF the table! It still has halloween costume remnants on it.:teeth:

Off to hang the first load of laundry and eat breakfast...... ovenight crockpot steel cut oats with apple! MMMMM...... I haven't made this in ages and I am looking forward to it!

TTYL.....................P
Wow! Great Day Ahead! You sound really strong today. Go kick some "butt"!

Never had a good week this week. I will weigh tomorrow, and I am pretty sure I have gained. On to next week and hopefully a little lighter on the scales. Gotta get back to clean eating which is how I lost 72 lbs since January of this year.
Yup....hear you loud and clear. I like the idea of writing down the days or day just before the "bad" thing happened. Maybe it will bring some clarity. What was I doing? What was I thinking about? Was it just my brain going into the "old habit place" again? I'm going to start doing this next week. I obviously need the extra support. You have done a phenomenal job so far....just get back on track. You can do it!

Yesterday I worked really hard to drink lots of water, keep myself within my points values and I also got a very good 40 minute workout in at the gym. I'm pleased that I lost 1 pound this week which is 20% to goal.

I have mapped out what I'm eating for the weekend in hopes that I'll stick with it but I really struggle with weekend eating. Example - today I know that I'm going to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. I'm going to try to resist the chips completely because I can't ever limit myself to just 11 or whatever a serving size is. So fingers crossed that this will be a good weekend! Happy weigh-in everyone!
Yeah....eating out is such a struggle for me too. Sometimes I do great....but then later when I get home I end up eating more because I deprived myself at lunch.

Going into Saturday with a plan. I am spending the weekend with my Sweetie, so he will be cooking and I don't have to think about food at all. That will get be back on track. I need to get back in the "feel good" zone. When I'm doing well, I just feel so great, so in control....and I love that feeling. So why give in to the urges at times? I don't know yet but I do know it will be a life long struggle. I think that's the part I resent the most, that I have to be diligent, every single day for the rest of my life. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that reality. I'm going to try the writing in the journal thing and see if I can get to a more peaceful place with food. I've been ignoring my usual techniques. Another thing to examine. Everyone, have a great weekend!

:offtopic:

Okay..... I'm having a HARD TIME pulling myself away from the Dis, FB, and Pinterest today!:surfweb: Not sure why..... but here goes....

I am giving myself a "10 minute challenge"!! I will set a timer to spend just 10 minutes cleaning each of the following rooms (10 min per room)....

living room, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, kids' bathroom, mudroom.... that is just ONE HOUR! And then (other than folding all of the laundry I've been washing and drying) I'll call it GOOD ENOUGH! And I will be totally free to hit the scrapbook table WITHOUT GUILT!! :artist: Somehow writing it here makes it more "legit"! I'm off and running! See you in an hour!......P

Is it to late to join? I started the new healthy eating & getting back to exercise this month. I need to lose a total of about 58lbs to be healthy. My goal for November being the kick off month is 10lbs, I know it will slow after that.

Gone low carb & gym at least 3 times a week to start.

NEVER too late!! Welcome aboard! Tell us a bit about yourself if you would like and then feel FREE to jump into the chatter and answer the QOTD!

******************

SO I got carried away with my 10 minute challenge..... dining room was more like 30 minutes because I took the time to pack up my excess Fiesta ware. The drawers in my antique buffet were actually no longer able to be closed properly because they were SO HEAVY! Nothing light about Fiesta.... but I love it! Anyhoooo... packed up all of my "excess" (some was displayed, but most was out of sight) ..... until the glorious day when I EVENTUALLY have a display cabinet for it all! Plus now the dining room is a clean slate for Christmas decorating! That is a good feeling!

Everything else I wanted to do (plus a bit more is done) and I've eaten lunch (another bowl of steel cut oats..... boring but easy, especially since I am home alone!). Next up.... a cup of tea and my scrapbook table!! WOOHOO!!................P

What is your favorite ride in all of Disney? Why is it your favorite?
To make it easier, you can take one ride in each Disney park and talk about why it's special.

My all time fave is ToT, I am a coaster thrill ride junkie. Always have been and proudly through my DS on TMRR when he was 4, he has also never looked back. Now doing it with the DGD, although she likes the smaller & not in the dark coasters right now. Well I would have said my fave park was Epcot now that we do more adult trips but since my DGD's 1st trip I am back to enjoying the MK through her eyes. She is a princess but with a bit of pirate in there.
So rides in each park:
MK - Wedway Peoplemover( will never call it anything else) it was my DM's fave
DHS - ToT
AK - Expedition Everestt
Epcot - Test Track
DLR - Mr Toads Wild Ride
DCA - Suncoaster

So I am 54, divorced but been with my DSO for many years. We live in the Boston area. I have 1 DS, he has 2. They are all grown, my DS married with 1 DGD (7), his DS1(27) married with 1 DGD (2). We love to cruise. :boat:I used to be athletic, some knee surgery sidelined that so the weight gain. I ran the Goofy twice last & that is our plan for 2017. :cheer2: He plays hockey twice a week & we hit every Bruins game we can, & Pats & Red Sox, having no kids at home is nice:hug:

So :wave::wave:

Thanks!!:thumbsup2

Okay.... so now I've gotta ask.... WHERE in the Boston area? I grew up in MA, DD goes to school in RI and has interned the last two summers at the New England Aquarium..... I have family in Attleboro, Hopkinton, Dracut, Sturbridge, and on the Cape. You've GOT to be near one of those! Howdy neighbor!......................P

Question of the Day - November 6

IT'S TIME FOR FRIDAY FUN!

It's time to change things up a bit. On Fridays we will make the topic about DISNEY since we are all (hopefully) fans of Disney.

What is your favorite ride in all of Disney? Why is it your favorite?
To make it easier, you can take one ride in each Disney park and talk about why it's special.

Sliding RIGHT PAST @courtneybeth 's not-so-subtle dig at my beloved Hollywood Studios... ;) I've only been to WDW so I won't have as many categories at some others, but! Here goes. This is HARD, btw!!

Hollywood Studios -

My FAVORITE park! Even if it is currently just a glimmer of what it once was. Before the recent update, I would've said my favorite ride was the Great Movie Ride - everyone complains that it's "out-of-date", that "no one recognizes these movies anymore", but what everyone forgets is that the "Great" movies featured in that ride aren't "great" because they're 3D, or blow up a ton of stuff, or have a lot of nudity, or were made in the last 5 years... They're "great" because they're CLASSICS. The classics are never out-of-date. My kids will recognize them because they will be shown those movies (no, I won't have a 6mo. watching James Cagney gangster movies, lol, but you get my gist)... BUT I HATE the new TCM touches. I. HATE. THE. MOVIE. IN. THE. PRESHOW. NOW. I want to see two people as cats sitting on a backyard fence! I want to see Singin' in the Rain! I don't want to watch TCM guy lecture about film. I don't want to listen to TCM guy in the onboard narration, which now makes the CM-gangster/cowboy stuff seem completely unnecessary. I hate that they messed with the movie at the end of the ride, which I could quote/sing along with, and now is thrown off. I miss TGMR!

So now I would have to say my favorite ride is Tower. I absolutely hate the dropping feeling, but that is overshadowed by every single other aspect of that ride. Classic Hollywood. Halloween. AMAZING THEMING. Incredible CM's. Unique ride-specific merch in the gift shop. The amazing view of the park from the top of the tower. Ride photos AND video. And it's my DH's favorite ride because it makes me scream every time
Animal Kingdom -
My least favorite park, though I am excited to see what Avatarland will bring... I hate that it's got Avatar tacked on to it (I'm 100% in the crowd of people who would be OVER THE MOON EXCITED about all the new additions if they just never once mentioned Avatar/Pandora) but I think it will bring a world of difference to that park. Hopefully it's not all just hype! I was disappointed with NFE after all was said and done, but I am a huge fan of everything Joe Rohde does, so I have high hopes! I will be the only person to say this, but right now - pre-Avatar - my favorite ride is Primeval Whirl! It's so fun. I was heartbroken that it was down for refurb during our trip! Haha.
EPCOT -
EPCOT is another that I think really needs some love. It's also another that what was once my favorite is no longer my favorite because of Disney's changes. I LOVED Spaceship Earth when Jeremy Irons narrated. I would ride it over and over and over, and I still listen to that audio. But I hate the Judi Dench narration, I hate the new ending where you stare at yourself on a digital screen in your car instead seeing all the gorgeous fiber optic lights and beautiful music, I hate that they turned the actors in ancient Greece into mathematicians, I hate that roads no longer lead to Rome... Meh. So, that being said, I guess I don't have a favorite EPCOT ride. Mission Space Orange makes me sick, Mission Space Green is boring, Ellen is SO MUCH FUN because it's so cheesy, but it's long and I usually fall asleep... Nemo isn't anything special really, I much prefer the original Figment with Imageworks at the end, I liked Maelstrom but it's gone, Mexico's boat ride is cool but it's a one-and-done for us... I had way more fun on Soarin' this time than I remember having previously, but if I miss it on a trip, I won't lose any sleep... Hopefully the new movie will make a big difference there! I guess Test Track is my favorite, but I did prefer the original theming, only because I think the track made more sense like that. Now there's no story other than you design your car at the beginning and they give it arbitrary scores throughout the track. I dunno. I thought the narration and "test dummy" story line made the whole experience more cohesive. But it's still a fun ride, so I guess I'll pick that as my favorite.
Magic Kingdom -
Splash Mountain is my favorite. Again, not a fan of the dropping feeling, but it's got an amazing story line carried throughout the attraction, the soundtrack is great, and it's the only ride in the park that is long enough to justify a reasonable wait. Haunted Mansion is a VERY close second for those same reasons.

Never had a good week this week. I will weigh tomorrow, and I am pretty sure I have gained. On to next week and hopefully a little lighter on the scales. Gotta get back to clean eating which is how I lost 72 lbs since January of this year.

Good luck to you, friend, and congratulations on your 72lb loss!!!! That's INCREDIBLE! I loved clean eating when I was doing it last year, and I think that's what we're going to do now that we're looking for long-term methods post-wedding. Low-carb is just not sustainable for me, but it was a great jump start, and I will probably throw it in intermittently over time. Do you have any clean recipes you love? How do you handle eating clean when you go out to eat?

Teach me your ways, oh wise one! Haha, if I told myself I only had 10 minutes to clean a room, I would end up sitting in that room for at least 8 minutes trying to figure out where to start, then the timer would go off and I'd just say "Oops! Out of time for this one!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

---------------------------------------------------

Weighed in yesterday at 206lbs, which is a 3lb loss, or 100% of my goal for the month... But I didn't feel good about it. We are buckling down this weekend, though, and finally getting the house back in some semblance of normalcy now that life has settled. We went out for dinner with one of our groomsmen last night and it was so much fun, and so nice to not spend the night agonizing over all of the wedding projects that weren't getting done while I was out. I told DH, it's amazing how much free time, and how little stress, there is now that we aren't spending every waking second planning a wedding LOL. So today we are cleaning house and putting away Halloween decorations... I think I might even put up indoor Christmas decorations this weekend. I am normally very adamantly "No Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving", but I have got some Disney ornaments begging to be displayed! Tomorrow morning is a Kroger run, and hopefully I will find the other half of my crockpot so we can start doing some yummy healthy crock pot recipes! @pjlla and anyone else, direct me to your favorites! I love soups, and almost anything with chicken in it is a winner.

Tuesday I start my new job! I am not 100% ecstatic about this yet, but that is just because I've really enjoyed staying at home with my dog every day, LOL. But that is not a sustainable reality at this point, unfortunately. It wouldn't be long before our savings account would be empty and DH's checks wouldn't cover everything at that point, so my dreams of stay-at-home-crafting-dog-mom are still on the back burner for the time being. :rotfl: BUT, the one thing that makes me really happy to do it is knowing that it will allow us to get back to Disney ASAP! I am trying to convince DH that we can make it back next year by leaving on Black Friday and staying for the week after Thanksgiving so that we can see the Christmas decorations. We shall see! Haha. At this point it's just an idea, but who knows.

What's everyone up to this weekend?! For us, it's puppyversary weekend! 3 years ago tomorrow we adopted our cuddlebug from an animal shelter in town. Best decision I've ever made!! So we are going later today to get some special cookies for him and take him to visit his grandparents, haha.

I spent yesterday crafting some headbands to match outfits we picked up for two of our "nieces" - neither are actually relatives, but one was the flower girl at our wedding and daughter of a long-time friend of mine who did my hair for the wedding, and the other is the daughter of our best man. "Southern relatives" are the best relatives! Haha. I am in no rush to have babies of my own, but I LOVE cute baby clothes and accessories, so it's a win-win for everyone! :rotfl: I might've gone a little overboard, but I couldn't help it! Haha.

Screen Shot 2015-11-07 at 2.24.14 PM.png Screen Shot 2015-11-07 at 2.24.27 PM.png

I need to check out some photo-printing sites, too. I think I want to make an album of honeymoon pictures... Has anyone here used Shutterfly or similar sites before? Hopefully we'll at least get sneak peeks of wedding photos soon! Our photographers went to Hawaii the week after our wedding and only got back recently, so I haven't wanted to bug them, but I'm anxious to see what they got! I was veryyyyy stressed so I'm worried that the majority of our photos, at least our pre-ceremony photos, won't turn out well. My biggest fear is not being happy with our wedding photos! We weren't happy with our engagement photos from the same photographer, but that was 100% because we didn't realize how heavy we had gotten, and I picked horrible outfits for myself. Not a thing the photographer can do about either of those factors! So crossing fingers for good things from the wedding. At least one or two good ones, haha!

Happy weekend, everyone! Get out there and enjoy it!

@ANforever1030 - hope you are having an AMAZING TIME at WDW! Be sure to see the Osborne lights if you can! It's the last year for them :sad1: Can't wait to hear your post-wedding tales!

Well kinda all over. I live in Marshfield on the beach, he lives in Salem(home of Halloween, which we just survived). I work in Boston, Southie actually. Right now we bounce back & forth, elderly parents with health issues. His COPD & heart, mine 90 & dementia

Weighed in today and lost 1 pound, so 1/5 is 20% of my goal! I am presently surprised as I so did not stick with my diet this week. I am hoping to clear out the fridge and pantry to get back on track.

As for my favorite Disney ride, Peter Pan will always have my heart! We are DL vets and PP is always our first ride. It is truly magical! While the WDW queue is so fun, the actual ride is just kinda meh. That didn't stop us from riding it 3 times though!

A close second would be TOT. My teen had to drag me on it nearly kicking and screaming, but being a good mom I sucked it up and prepared for my death! I gotta tell ya, that ride is exhilarating! It really put a pep in my step and I'm so glad I faced my fears.

TRIVIA CHALLENGE!

About how many pairs of mouse ears has Disneyland sold since its opening in 1955?

Let's see if anyone can get this right! I was at Disneyland earlier today and a plaid asked me this very question. :)

Also - I kind of want those ears!

Weight Loss: Week 1

Pounds lost: .5/6
Percentage: 8%

UGH. That is depressing, but expected after a 2.5 pound loss last week. A loss is still a loss, so I will keep that in mind!

Big week ahead this week - first 5K of two this month on Friday. That number will go down much more next week for sure. :cheer2:

First typing in my phone (Blech)
Love love Soarin. Mostly because my then 5yr DS said "it smells like fruit loops" loudly when we went over the orange grove.

Side note to everyone: Your weigh-in numbers are due to me no later than Sunday. You can post the responses in this thread or you can message me directly.

:cheer2:Let's see some BIG percentages this week when I get results posted. :cheer2:
lost .5 today which puts me at 25% yay!!!

Oof - well, this week has been a mess. All the eating out caught up with me, and even though I tried to keep in my calorie goal the rest of the week I think I either failed because I didn't track some of the random munchies, or possibly some of my guesses were very wrong when I wasn't somewhere with readily available nutrition info.

This morning I was weighing in at 147 (ack!), and I'm hoping for a small change tomorrow in the right direction.

Obviously I need to work on not letting a few days of eating out derail me (and work on really making good choices when I do eat out). Hoping I can still work hard to meet my goal this month!

MK: Haunted Mansion. I'm not really sure why, but I love the ride!:lovestruc
HS: Either Rock 'n' Roller Coaster or Toy Story Midway Mania. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was the first actual roller coaster I ever went on, and it got me hooked! Midway Mania is so much fun, even for the adults, and provides a game in the middle of a ride!:drive:
EPCOT: Soarin'! I love gliding over the gorgeous California landscape :sunny:
AK: I don't remember the AK, since I haven't been there since I was 11 :guilty:
