Well, our VERY old snowblower just died. We bought it 6 years ago for $50, used and DH & my Dad put alot of work into it. Its done us good, but last nights snowfall, did it in:( . DH got most of the driveway done, but it died (cracked auger??). Looks like we're going out today to get a new one. Guess it'll be an early anniversary gift to each other.

I still wouldn't live anywhere but New England...EVEN with all the snow!
Have a great day everyone.

6 years is old for a snowblower? Boy! We bought one used--the family bought it last year for $900  but moved to NYC and didn't need it--sold it to us for $300 :D . We really doubted ourselves for a while after we got it in August, since we've had some really mild winters here, but we've used it twice already--esp. for our 7" yesterday! DH likes it so much he does our neighbors driveways too!

I have a Toro snowblower, it is 10 yrs old, (Hush Gail, don't curse yourself) it's still going strong. :D

All I can say is.....it's the best $800 we ever spent!!

Well, the one that died was about 5 years old when we got it for the fifty dollars, and now 6 years later, its gone. Just went out and bought one for $650...not exactly what I wanted to be doing the day after Christmas...oh well, at least I won't have to shovel.

Ours died on Christmas Day. James was trying to clear the driveway and when I went out to see what was taking so long, I noticed that only half of the auger was turning. That poor kid was literally using the snowblower to push the snow off the driveway. I took a look at the beastie when we got home last night. Fortunately it was an easy repair with parts that I had on hand. Our old reliable Ariens is 15 years old and this was the first repair that I've had to make. I guess I should replace the broken wheel and scrape off the rust, but as long as the thing keeps starting and blowing snow, I'm tempted to let it be.

Good luck with the new snowblower!!!
