So can we no longer get Smoothies, Shakes or non-Alcholic drinks as a beverage on the DDP as of 1/1/07 anyone been recently and know first hand?

Is that just as snacks? Or is it at the TS places that allow you to have it with your meal as your non alcoholic drink? :confused3 popcorn::

Is there something that leads you to believe that anything is different effective 1/1/07? In the past some places let you get a shake or a smoothie as your non-alcoholic beverage on the plan and some places didn't. I don't see any different wording in the 2007 plan brochure than was in the 2006 brochure regarding beverages, so I don't see why anything should change from what individual places allowed before.

If you can't get smoothies, shakes or non-alcoholic drinks as a beverage that pretty much leaves drinks with alcohol as a choice.

Do you mean you think you can no longer get smoothies and shakes AS the non-alcoholic drink choice or do you mean you think a drink isn't included at all?

I'm confused.

Well, that would leave fountain drinks--like soda and lemonade. If this is the way the DDP is headed my guess would be that these were the intended drinks all along.

No in the 2007 FAQ it states that a memo was sent around the first of January stating you could no longer get smoothies, shakes or non-alcholic fancy drinks as your beverage at a TS I was just wondering if they were really sticking to it or not. You can only get Tea, soda or milk or coffee etc.

I think I get what they were saying now. :) To me non-alcoholic drinks means all drinks without alcohol which would include soda and lemonade. I think here it means a speciality drink w/o alcohol.:thumbsup2

Now I get it!! Duh.

I wonder can you get a Shake or a Smoothie as your desert if they are listed on the menu as a drink.

We like to get the Milk Shakes at Sci Fi as our desserts, we get them to go so it doesn't take so long to eat. We have always done this on the DDP in the past.

We were at Sci Fi on Jan 4th and adults could still get a shake as a drink or dessert. Kids could get them as a dessert but it wasn't on the menu. Kids and adults could also get flavored sodas as drink. We were not offered smoothies as an option at any other TS and I saw very few of them being served as opposed to our last trip where we saw tons. I was given a bottle of Evian water at Coral Reef on the plan (wanted tap water!) so that's still allowed too.

I was under the impression that having a smoothie or shake as a beverage at you TS meal was more of a bonus treat, than an entitlement:confused3 It would be great if they would let me trade my dessert for one though:cutie: Then me and DD can share one w dinner, and then share a dessert after, like the pigs that we are:lmao:

You're absolutely correct. To the extent they're still allowing it, consider it a little bit of pixie dust, but folks are well-advised to not expect it.

The 2007 Dining Plan brochure that can be accessed via the official WDW website has no such langauage in the FAQ. Perhaps you had access to some other document? Source please.

A CM I talked to let me know as of Feb 1st only water will be allowed with meals both TS and CS...another way to make the meals healthy!:rotfl2:

The source is the sticky thread "Disney 2007 dining FAQ" on page one see the 1st post towards the bottom where it says add on's.

The Dining Plan FAQ here on the DIS says, "Jocelyn (phlufster) reports that a memo was circulated to all restaurants early in January indicating that that practice is no longer permitted." That's just one member's report. I'm adding the line, "It is not yet clear to what extent this memo reflects the reality," to clarify this.

However, to be clear, NONE of these sources ever said that smoothies, or any specialty beverages, were included in the Dining Plan. That's always been a bonus, and one that wasn't even consistent across WDW.

didn't the literature from 2005-2006 say any non-alcoholic beverage??

We were able to get them at every TS we encoutered so far EXCEPT Teppanyaki...

TS places I have been to and got smoothies or shakes as drinks:
kona
PF dinner
CM dinner
Sci-fi shakes as drink
50's shake as drink

I have the original 2006 brochure in front of me. The word "any" never appears with respect to beverages.

You mentioned Sci-Fi, so let's look at that menu as an example. There, the smoothies do not appear under the "Beverages" section of the menu, but rather appear under the "Cosmic Concoctions" section of the menu, so clearly they're not included (and so the fact that you were able to select a smoothie as your beverage was quite nice of them!)
