Sorry if this has been posted but we went to DL on Sunday, the 16th, and when we went to get our free stroller with my DV card, I was told that as of Wed. (8/12) strollers are no longer free-they are now 50% off. So $6 for one, $11 for 2.

I decided not to get one (DSis would just have to carry her stuff!) and it was a good decision since I wouldn't have wanted to push it through the crowds! :crowded:

What a crock! I just got a rewards card to go along with my new annual pass - specifically to save the stoller fee. Looks like Disney has :headache: me again!

Yeah, this was posted a few weeks ago. I do have to say it does change what stroller we will bring next time. Or the fact that we will bring a stroller vs no stroller at all.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end at somtime. The DV still offers some other nice perks and discounts though.

What other visa benefits changed?

There is still a meet and greet that includes a free 5x7
You can save points and redeem for Disney Dollars
10% discount on certain tours

Please let's keep in mind that this is a CHASE VISA run by Chase not Disney. Just as an American Airlines card is drawn on a nother bank. Chase just has earmarked their rewards for Disney based items instead of airmiles or restauarant gift cards like the ones we get from our Chase. Chase is the one that changed what they offering. FWIW, since our Chase card begins with the first 4 numbers of the Chase Disney Visa, we still get the 10% discount on tours :)

Bummer! Thanks for posting the info though. Now I know to bring our own stroller in January. Too bad that we were able to use this perk on 8 trips to DL, but only one time was it for DD, the other times we got them for our nieces and nephews. When we went to WDW last year, I thought the strollers were free there too and found out they weren't. Oh well.

They have added a 10% off purchases of $50 or more at any Disney store in the country on any day. Which is more likely to save me money than the free stroller deal. I did love the free strollers though. :)

Thanks for the info! We were going to use the perk again in oct and now may bring our own strollers!

So what's interesting, and possibly related is...they just created the Disney Visa Debit Card, and that card has the meet-greet opportunity included.

So I can't help but wonder if the debit card's addition is what caused the stroller to go away...perhaps to be less confusing, etc.

If so, sorry...we just got the debit card (yes we're paying $25/year for it, but the first 5 non-PIN purchases give us 25 Disney dollars) and I'm kinda excited about that...

When I called Chase to complain about the changes to the free stroller policy I was told to take it up with Disneyland because it was Disneyland's decision to reduce the credit card perk.

That's interesting. We had some changes in our rewards plan with our Chase Visa and they said it was a cost cutting measure to fall in line with the regulations coming out. You know the ones where they can double your interest rate and fees if you are ever late. Thank goodness DH handles the bills!! :cool1:
A worker at our Disney store where you can apply for the card said it was Chase's fault :confused3 Who knows!?!?!?!
What I plan on doing is buying a Step 5 jogger from a resale shop ($70) use it at Disney and sell it back to them. They will give me $40. That way I have a big stroller for DD that I can take back to the hotel. She's too big for an umbrella stroller but I liked the way she could fit in the Disney freebies. BUt you can't take it back to the hotel- even for $6. This may solve my problem for about the same cost as the new prices Disney ones. And I can take it in and out

Yesterday I was renting strollers and mentioned that Chase had blamed Disneyland for the change. The clerk rolled her eyes like she'd heard this many times and stated that it was definitely Chase that took away the free stroller perk--not Disneyland!
Note: 2 strollers now cost $11 at 1/2 price ($22 regular price up from $18 just a few weeks ago).

Sounds like both parties want to just pass the blame. I think it was probably a mutual decision. It is a win-win for Disney and Chase. Disney gets more money for strollers, Chase gets mores customers charging the stroller fees, and we are the only ones who loose out.

I think Disney will see fewer strollers getting rented.

This was the last straw for me. Between climbing interest rates, a couple erroneous "late payment" fees, and now this, I'm done with Chase/Disney Visa. One less credit card for me to worry about.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure that the average advisor at Chase or CM at Disney has absolutely no idea who made the decision, how or why. So, I wouldn't take anyones word for it. It's not like they get any more info than, "Here's the new rules." I'm certain no one's going to give them background on the decision making process.

Hey, at least we're still getting some kind of discount. May not be as good as what they offered us before, but at least they didn't take it away entirely and make everyone pay full price. We're still better off than the average Disney visitor.

You know, the free stroller perk was introduced for the 50th celebration and I don' think was originally intended to be permanent. I also think they extended it farther than they originally intended. Heck, it wasn't even a perk I was ever able to take advantage of. I use the card for so many other reasons. But, like I said before, all good things must come to an end sooner or later.

Well at least I've been told that the DV Meet 'n Greet will be continuing for some time. Last year one of the CMs there told me the program had just been renewed for 5 years.

Right now I have about 10 or so coupons I need to use by the end of Sept. Yikes!!
