We were allowed THREE checked bags per passenger on our last trip. Now SW and American allow two per passenger, and the rest allow ONE. All extras are charged. That would make flying and camping unreasonable for us, particularly if some items are oversized.

That's what I would do, too. Ship your camping supplies down to the fort ahead of time. It would be such a shame to give up such a nice vacation because of airline restrictions. JMO

If you stop camping, They win. Don't let that happen. Shop around between Fed Ex, UPS and DHL.

Yep, with the new luggage restrictions it is much more difficult to fly and camp.

There is no way I could do it on Delta with 1 bag, still possible on SW with 2 bags per person, but no RAC with SW, so dragging that back to the airport is a hassle.

Starting in May, Delta is only allowing one checked bag per person. I guess I'm going to be doing laundry on our trip in June. Packing light is not my forte and we're not even camping.

You could try Owner's Locker. Its a service that is big over at the DVC boards. You basically rent the locker (a plastic tote), put all of your stuff inside, they store it in their climate controlled warehouse, and when you need it, let them know, and they will deliver it to the Fort for you. When you're ready to leave, pack it up, and they come and pick it up and store it until you need it again.

From what I have read, most folks that have used it, rave about the service. I don't know if it would be cost effective for you or not, but an idea none the less..... I don't use it myself, nor am I connected to the service in any way.

Yeah, there are a few people here who use it too. Airtran is down to 1 bag too. I don't ever remember being able to check 3 though, and I've been flying for 40 years. I don't like to take much luggage. When I was traveling a lot for business, just a suit bag for a week.
