No more Air Canada for me

When did they notify you of the changes? (were the first 9 through your TA or did they contact you directly?

Can't really be flaming them when they are not even being notified by AC (AC notified them for the other 9 changes, but not the 10th - the most critical - one.)

Or so they say!

But isn't that why you go thru a TA so that you don't have to be checking the details?

Just my 2centsworth!

I don't know, Scratch42. I've been using this TA (so do the rest of my family and relatives), exclusively this one person, for the past 12 years. I don't think she lied about this matter. If she does, than it's the first.

All the 9 times the schedule were changed, the TA notify my directly (she is one of a very few people who have my 24-hour direct line).

It's just that I've had nothing but bad luck with TA's that I finally decided it's best to just do it on my own.

If I am constantly having to check and double check myself, well you get the picture...

Better luck next trip.

When you book a flight through a TA, they charge you a booking bonus. I really think it would be up to the TA to advise you of any changes. It just sounds like you had some real bad luck. I fly with AC several times a year (with work mostly but also pleasure) and I've never had problems to speak of. Once the flight was 1.5 hours later than scheduled but if I would have checked the times before I left the house I would have known so I blame myself for that. We booked our Feb Orlando trip with them a good few months ago and no changes yet. I also flew with them last month and I will again in Jan. Its a huge airline, I can't think of any hugh airline that comes close to perfect, lol.

Quite unfortunately, I beg to differ. I've flown with Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Qantas even much more often than Air Canada. Literally, not a single time I've had this kind of problem and they have never (so far) delayed their flight and/or change the flight time more than +/- 30 minutes with a two-week warning. On top of that, those airlines contact BOTH my TA and myself.

The only airline worse than AC is Garuda Indonesian Airways.

Don't think Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Qantas are going to do much for a trip for Canadians on a trip to Disney but just in case I'll avoid Garuda Indonesian Airways on my next excursion to Orlando ;)

LOL..thx Grumbo, I just wasn't sure how to reply but your comment was perfect.

For Orlando, we have a choice of A/C, Westjet (sometimes), NWA and jetsgo (sometimes). We are very limited. We also get wonderful charters such as Skyservice and Air transat  but not to Orlando. Having flown on all of the above, I actually cheer when I get A/c. When I made the comment about huge airlines, I wasn't thinking International which is totally different.

I've had "problems" with a number of airlines over the years but I generally fly, as do alot of people by price, and not by preference of airline. For the most part though it is a way to get from A to B. I'd love to fly First Class or Business but for 3 or 4 hours I will not pay that price :) Yeah I know I'm cheap.
I find Air Canada's planes roomier than Air Transat and JetsGo but most times more expensive. On our upcoming repositioning cruise though A.C. was cheaper than West Jet and Jets Go. IF there are problems they have many more planes and options than Jets Go, Air Transat, Skyservice and West Jet.
In today's markets you're going to get good experiences and bad with any airline. I just hope for the best and hope like heck the darn plane is on time and comfortable.

btw Fat Cow I cancelled my ressies on Garuda Indonesian Airways for my flight to Thunder Bay next week. Thanks for the heads up ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Not to be a smarty-pants - but Air Canada is an international airline (otherwise we never would have gotten home after being stranded in Brussels by KLM), and the flight to Orlando is an international flight...
There goes that Canadian inferiority complex again! :D

But I get where you're coming from.

Rescue from Brussels aside, I'm not a fan of the gougy-gougy, poor-crying, pirate of the airways that is Air Canada.

Sorry your trip was a bust, FatCow. I'll be watching for your trip report.

alrighty, let me rephase that once again. I wasn't thinking flying with international flights such as singapore. I was speaking more on the lines of flights that fly through-out Canada as in west jet, A/C and jets go. The kind of flights that fly where you have 15 choices a day to choose from. I guess the ones that fly Domestic and Internation. ALthough Orlando is technically international, there are often different rules and terminals when flying in the States then in going "International", at least, thats been my experience.

And if thats still not clear, I give, LOL.

They currently only have 2 flights each day, from the original 6 a day. So not that much choice either.

..it's classed as "transborder", actually... :earboy2:

LOL!!

Sorry to hear that the trip was awful, FatCow!:(
