No Mickey Waffles!!

I follow TheMainStreetMouse on Instagram and they are showing a picture of POP waffles from Pop Century saying these are replacing the Mickey waffles at POP and that all the values will have their Mickey waffles replaced! WHAT?! Can anyone tell me if this is true and if this also be true at moderates?

Well I know at POP and AoA they have resort-specific waffles, not Mickey ones. This is actually part of the reason we've switched to ASSp for our upcoming trip (might sound silly, but I love starting my day with a Mickey waffle!). As far as I know, Mickey waffles are available at other hotels still. We had them last summer at POR, and as far as I know they're still around at moderates. There is a fairly recent thread (maybe a few pages back) where someone has posted availability at all the hotels--take a look for it

They've always had the Pop waffles at Pop. They have the small mickey waffles but the big waffles are Pop. Are they replacing the small Mickey waffles?

I don't eat waffles at all, but what makes Mickey waffles different from any other Disney waffles? Is it just the shape?

No it's not silly! I love my morning Mickey waffle! I have the big Mickey waffle maker at home but if I buy the small one I would! I don't mean to sound paranoid butnwithnasnmanynpics of the waffles on FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc has disney decided to take them from certain hotels so people will switch?! I know a little waffle crazy

I got back 2 days ago from POP. They only have POP waffles....large and small. I don't recall them ever having any size of Mickey waffles.

You're kidding, right? People would switch resorts because they couldn't get a Mickey waffle? The waffle that they wouldn't be able to distinguish from an Eggo in a blind taste test?.

I think it is going a bit far to think Disney would change food court waffles on the premise of getting people to switch resorts.

You can't compare Eggo frozen waffles to fresh Belgian style waffles. I love waffles and I never eat those frozen ones ever. Gross.

Maybe, maybe not. A Disney vacation is a personal experience so what I love doing on vacation vs what another one does is always different and their choice. Plus if you have two hotels that u feel the same about and the only difference is one small thing that you enjoy, then why not it's your/theirs choice.

this sounds a bit mean spirited, Minnie mum. Mickey waffles feel like an important part of my trip. they might not be anything special to you, and they might taste like standard waffles to you, but I love to start my mornings in the world with one. now, there probably aren't droves of people leaving POP or AoA because they don't serve Mickey waffles, but for some folks it might be a factor. there were certainly other reasons, but I did switch resorts for
my upcoming trip, and I am glad to have switched to a resort that serves Mickey waffles. disney might not be trying to herd people away from particular resorts by not offering them, sure, but they might still matter to some. Mickey waffles, Mickey pretzels, Mickey ice cream bars and sandwiches--they all might taste the same in blind taste tests, but they hold sentimental value and disney Magic for lots of visitors.

It's partially the shape and partially the taste (no doubt influenced by "pixie dust" sensors in the tongue). Reportedly, Carbon's Golden Malted Waffle Mix is used in Disney restaurants serving Mickey waffles and recommended by CMs there, as well. While I can't totally verify that information, we did order the mix and used it with our waffle iron at home. It's extremely close in flavor and texture to Mickey waffles, so I think those reports may be rooted in truth.

Pop uses the same waffle batter for the Pop waffles as the Mickey waffles... so they taste the same! I LOVE Mickey Waffles, but I do enjoy the Pop Waffles too! I don't know if it's my imagination because of the shape, but they seem bigger than the Mickey waffles to me... Again, it's the exact same flavor and texture... just looks different!

I suspect they would, but being shaped like Mickey makes all the difference in their taste.
