No matter how old I get, when I ride Mission Space I always have to....

......play with all the buttons and knobs. I always joke about the "fire in the hole" on the control panel and make stupid comments like today "Do you want guidance or navigation? I have to choose between them and they are the only choices." (It was a toggle switch at the Commander's station.)

Some of them even make cute noises...... which completely annoys my kids.......kinda like computer farts.

I also think I'm the only one in my family that actually presses the buttons when I'm supposed to.

Anybody else want to add to my confessional?

I'm a single rider (my wife can't take the motion of M:S,)
and I also flip all of the switches while we wait to blast off.
(I do so in a very deliberate manner, as I also wiggle and check the steering handle.)

It tends to make the other three in the capsule
(for sure, the noobies) a bit nervous.

Glad I'm not the only one that plays astronaut. I too have to ride it by myself. Fiancé refuses to get on it, she did orange once and pretty much wanted to throw me off the monorail on the way back to the room.

What red blooded American male has never wished they were an astronaut atleast once?

When I'm ordered to press my button, I do so as if my life depends upon it.

Hey, when Lt. Dan tells you to push...
you PUSH!

i do the same thing. im normally a single rider ( my mom did it once and liked it but wont do it again, dad can do it with me just once a trip or it messes his head up the whole trip) so i pretend to be so scared and once i pretended like i was going to puke and someone next to me looked over and made themself sick and puked lol :rotfl:

And I venture a guess that every would-be astronaut also jumps up to tap an awning when they are about to pass underneath one.

Theme & Amusement Parks are one way to stay in touch with our inner child.

Laughter is good too.

"Fire in the hole....."lol

Always play with ALL the switches and buttons I can reach.

Especially the one's over on my wife's console!
She tells me to let her switches alone, but I am sure I persist. :rolleyes1

It's half the fun of the ride. Other than the awesome G forces, my favorite thing about this ride is how immersive it is. Of course I pretend like I'm really an astronaut.

I do it too, just as if I know what I'm doing, like a pre-flight checklist. It's one reason I love that ride so much.

Absolutely. I ride it with my 3 daughters, and I always play it up for all it's worth. I try to make sure I'm the Engineer, and channel Scotty (complete with accent) through the entire ride. They claim I'm embarrassing them, but I know they love it.

OMG I would love to be in the capsule while you are there, just to see the look on the other people's faces :rotfl:

For me, I am with everyone else and love to press all of the buttons and flip every switch before our flight. I don't have to worry about my family thinking how crazy I am because they do it too :goodvibes. It never fails, when my kids see that I am flipping switches or pressing buttons (especially after it makes a noise), they say "Oh mom, you shouldn't of done that!!!!". Our family also presses the buttons like our life depends on it when they tell us to, and when we have to "manually" steer the ship, I am steering it like it is a real ship and try really hard to pull back so it doesn't go over the edge.

The first time we rode Mission Space I had NO CLUE what was going on. Probably pushed every button (and at the wrong time)! I couldn't believe we still made it to Mars safely!!! :teeth::) ;)

One of the best things about WDW!!! The chance to be a goofy kid again!!!! (and not get weird stares... well except from your kids :D )

at blast off.. I pretend I am Lord Helmet and scream "my brains are going into my feet"... Seriously all three of us in the capsule last time had THE BEST laughs.. I wish I would have gotten a video or audio!

57 years old and I channel my inner twelve year old self and mess with the switches and buttons.
