Had a big hassle yesterday, and I'm talking BIG HASSLE. Found a price on Travelocity, $287 - I had booked on Loews for $359. Called Loews to "match the price" they said they had to put me through to the Universal Reservations to do that. Long story, but in a nutshell excuses were "can't find HRH on Travelocity so no go" - don't think so! - to "only match non club level prices" - don't think so! - then "we're not a Loews Hotel so we don't match prices - by this point I am  :furious: Then called Loews, again explained the situation, she claimed that Loews had no such guarantee. Had to actually walk her to the links in the website where the guarantee is and she was astounded. Put me on hold, then came back to tell me that they don't match Travelocity, but she would be happy to cancel this resso for me. I then said okay, fine, but then it really should state that on the website. She again asked me to hold, I asked her to call me when it was sorted out (luckily this was all on work time :smooth). Someone called back from Special Services (Jo - she was so great) and it was solved in a flash. popcorn:: But now the reason for the title of this email, got a call from a very nice lady today (Sue) following up to make sure I was happy, but also to inform that they DO NOT match Travelocity but because of the hassles I had this time they did. So heads up to everyone....

From day one Loews and Universal needed to get their acts together and quote the SAME information when asked questions. Today, 7 years later they still arent on the same page! It's so annoying! I am happy that they did the right thing in your case after ALL that aggravation its the least they can do. Meanwhile I'm curious how long it takes till they add the Travelocity disclaimer on their website. A letter to Loews Corporate stating everything you just posted wouldnt be a bad idea. :)

So what's the point of a "lowest price guarantee" with exceptions?! I thought the whole point of the statement was that NO ONE would beat their own price? Sounds like a scam to me!

I called the other day and they were great about reducing my price. Granted I paid $10 per night more than the price on Travelocity but since it meant that I didn't have to prepay I was okay with that. It probably depends on who you are dealing with or maybe they have been getting a lot of phone calls lately....who knows.

I found a lover price on Expedia for our travel dates..11/1-11/5. The original price for the HRH at a AAA discount was 233 per night. On expedia it was 208 per night. I called the HRH and they adjusted my price. This was for a standard garden view room. She just had to look up the price on Expedia...it took about 5 minutes.
