No luggage tags?

This morning, after registering yet another change in flight numbers for my upcoming trip Aug 15, the confirmation email for Magical Express said they would not be able to mail my luggage tags and confirmation letter in time and I could either give them my claim tickets when I got there and wait an additional 1 to 2 hours on top of the usual 4 to get my bags or we could get our bags ourselves and take them with us on the bus. Has anyone else gotten a notice like this?
 
I read elsewhere on the DIS last night that somebody else got a similar notice. It sounded like they were planning on just retrieving their luggage themselves.

Yes at least 1 or 2 have posted about DME not sending the bag tags in time before their trip. They also indicated that their personal choice was to just grab their own bags from Baggage Claim to have the bags loaded on their bus.

You can also give your bag tag information at the DME counter and they will collect your bags as normal. But they also indicated it would take longer vs the normal system.

DH said we would just collect our own bags as well. But the weird part about this was, we are not going to be there for another 2 and a half months. This is not enough time for them to mail luggage tags to me?
 

I got the email too. Out trip isn't until the end of July. We will just collect our own bags I guess.
 
They probably just do not know what the new plan will be for luggage service, so they do not want to give out any tags until they decide if and how that service will be operated.

It could be they don't have a lot of staff on site right now. I mean right now we only do mail runs in my office once every couple weeks.
 
I think they are moving a lot of people and having a lot of cancelations, so they may want to wait on luggage tags until things settle down. I can't imagine they want the poor bus drivers managing all that luggage.

Well if we get to go in Aug (no cancellations/restrictions) that's what our bus driver will be facing. DH does not want to go the claim ticket route so we will be bringing our luggage with us.

Same here...six people with luggage, car seat and stroller. Plus extra bags for non perishable food, diapers, etc. since they said no shipping services and who knows what that means for grocery delivery.
 
Getting your luggage may be best since staffing won't be complete. I would rather get it myself especially in the early phase of reopening
