I am by no way asking about cheating the Disney system, but do have a question. When we booked our trip (3 mos ago) our daughters were 2 and 5. They never asked me for their birthdates, just how old they are. Well, our youngest will turn 3 before our trip in 3 weeks. We've already gotten our confirmation package in the mail including our DDP info. Do I need to contact them or should I just let it go? Do they not ask for actual birthdates anymore? Thanks

On the Disney site they ask " How old the child will be when they travel?"
I would guess that they probably will not ask but there are no guarentees.
I am guessing it will be up to you. I myself would not feel right about not paying.

Disney charges for the DDP and admission for 3 and over.

Okay, thanks. We'll just add her when we get there. Do you know if we will get the package price on her too?

Also with the dining plan your youngest will have to share with you as under 3 the child wont get dining credits.

Disney will go by the age of the child on the first day of the trip.

It it were me I would call now and update the package and get the tickets and dining credits for her done correctly esp if you booked the buy 4 get 3 free deal. If you wait until you arrive you may have to pay full price for her ticket.

If it were a room only reservation I would say wait but packages can get tricky so in your case I would do it in advance.

Definitely call now to see if they can honor the package rate. Good luck!

Keep in mind that they have to cancel and rebook your reservation. That means that depending on the package you booked and time of travel, you may lose the deal you got initially. And, you may not even be able to get an accomodation.

I personally would really hate to lose my entire trip to someone stealing my room out from under me in that huge reservation center. Therefore, I would look at that first and then consider that you may just want to add her when you get there, if there's a chance it could cost you a lot more in the end.

We too have this problem. I don't mind paying for my DD, but when I made the reservation I made a point of telling the agent that my DD would be 3 at the time of travel and gave her DOB. All the paperwork came back with 2. We have the dining plan, but my DD is a picky eater and does not eat much of what she will eat so she will not even close to eat a full meal. Being that the reservations were over Christmas I was afraid of loosing the room so decided to wait til check-in and go from there. I know I did the right thing because I made the point of telling the agent her age and DOB and they were the ones who put her age at 2 for time of travel....if a store mismarks an item the store obliges that price.

Thats interesting. I've decided not to chance changing things either. We have 2 adjoining rooms booked, so I would be so upset if we lost that request. I'm not going to fret about it. :) Have a great trip!

I don't know maybe the agents figure that if you are booking that far ahead then you deserve to be charged the cost the 2 yo. We booked our reservations for Christmas the begining of last January. I think if they were really concerned about this they would either a) have the child's birthday listed or b)ask of proof of age ID upon check in (and from what I understand they do not). I know there has to be a cut-off age, but what really is the difference between a 2 yo and just 3 yo. Have a great trip!!!

The difference is Disney charges for the 3yr old, and not the 2. Not paying for park admission when you know you should is indeed stealing. Would you walk into a store and just take something small, because it was inexpensive, and expect it to be no big deal? After all, the store is not loosing very much money? Of course not. Yet for some reason it is ok to not pay for park admission, which is worth a few hundred dollars?

Oh, and to the poster who has 2 adjoining rooms booked, do you mean connecting? Because adjoining just means next to each other. Connecting means with the door in-between. Hopefully you put the right thing into your request, because if you meant connecting and said adjoining, that could be a big bummer.

And as far as a store honoring a mismarked price, that is not always the case. It depends on the cost of the item, and how far off it is marked. I had a fight with Meijers over that last year, and they would not budge. Besides that just sounds like a way to try and justify doing something that is not honest.

thank so much, I just double checked our reservation and it is for "connecting" rooms. My heart did skip a beat for a second. ;)

Booking CM's aren't supposed to decide what someone deserves to be charged.

Sorry if the comment offended...I meant it jokingly. In the end, though, it was the agent that put it, I didn't lie about the age. Like I said, if Disney is very concerned about things like this happening then they need to request proof of age for all guests.

I would call and ask about it now. I don't think it would be fun to start my vacation out with an issue about age. I have always been asked the age of the child at time of travel. Maybe because it was a mistake on their end they can be a bit more accommodating then canceling and rebooking the rooms.

There does seem to be some inconsistency here. I was asked for both of my girls' birthdates even though by that point in the conversation the CM already knew that they were both under 3. My cousin, however, has 4 kids (1 under 3 and 1 that will have turned 3 a couple weeks before the trip) and wasn't asked for ANY of their birthdates.

I would too. I'm not sure that by adjusting the age, it would cause the entire reservation to be cancelled and rebooked. I think they can just modify that.
