Last in yesterday were some updates from slk537, starting with this one from Magic Kingdom.


She said, "We had tickets to the very Merry Christmas party and so we decided to spend the day at Magic Kingdom. One of the snacks that we enjoyed was from the...

Main Street Ice Cream Parlor


"DH and DS ordered this ice cream sandwich made with chocolate chip cookies and mint ice cream."




"It was huge and it was really, really good."




"I stopped next door and ordered myself my skinny vanilla latte."





"For dinner we wanted to go to Columbia Harbor House but when we walked in they had literally just closed a few minutes earlier. I think they were transitioning over to the cocoa and cookies for the party that evening. So instead we went to Pecos Bill's as they were still open. DH and DS ordered the steak and chicken platter."




"The cornbread tasted more like yellow cake than cornbread (but this was a good thing), the steak and chicken were relatively okay for fast food in a theme park, and the black beans had a really nice flavor."



"I ordered the southwest chicken salad which came with a jalapeno ranch dressing."



"It also came with a roasted jalapeno that I diced up and added to the salad. It was a lot spicier than I anticipated it would be but it was very, very good and again it was nice to get an interesting salad especially at a fast food type place."



"The dessert options weren't very interesting so we just got two chocolate cakes."



"DS had part of one and thought it was a little bit too rich. I was full from my salad and DH wasn't interested in dessert so we ended up giving the untouched cake to a person sitting at a table near us. All in all it wasn't what we had planned for dinner but it still turned out to be okay."




"We had a great time as the party started up and the lines for rides were almost nonexistent. We were also able to enjoy a lot of the elements of the party including stopping at Pinocchio's to get some Hot chocolate and cookies. I'm not sure why we ended up with six of them but that's what they gave us??"







"The Hot chocolate wasn't served especially hot so you could drink it right away which was great. It also had marshmallows on top which was a fun touch. The cookies were ordinary sugar cookies and for what they were they were pretty good as well."



"When it was time to watch the fireworks we made our way to the middle, very close to the front of the castle. We had a beautiful view of the celebration showing on the castle and then we also were able to enjoy the fireworks. The Holiday wishes is one of our favorite shows ever. Afterwards we were in a great position to turn around and watch the parade so I made my way up to Main street to get some snacks to enjoy during the parade. Main street bakery/Starbucks had some incredibly cute cupcakes as well as the regular drinks and pastries."





"I ordered a large peppermint hot chocolate for DH (The Disney hot chocolate was very good but there's just something about peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks that we all really like) and I decided to treat myself to another skinny vanilla latte. I couldn't resist the gingerbread cupcakes so I got a vanilla one for DS. I really love the ones that look like cups of hot chocolate but they were chocolate cupcakes and he prefers vanilla and they also had chocolate buttercream and we all prefer vanilla buttercream so the gingerbread man it was. Plus that was like two desserts and one with a cookie on top."






"The drinks were both wonderful as we expected them to be and the cupcake was absolutely perfect."

"All in all we had a great afternoon and evening at the Magic Kingdom, really enjoying all of the Christmas season and everything that they had to offer." ​

Then slk537 and family started their day yesterday with breakfast from Magic Kingdom's...

Main Street Bakery


She said, "This morning we slept in since we didn't get back to the room until close to 1 o'clock this morning. We decided to head back to the Magic Kingdom since that's where the fast passes I had booked worked today. We stopped on Main street and decided to have a small breakfast before heading over to Adventureland and Frontierland."

"DH decided to have the bacon Gouda egg sandwich (no photo) from Starbucks and surprisingly I had a skinny vanilla latte."




"DH picked out the breakfast of champions which was a Christmas sugar cookie. We all enjoyed our breakfasts and I am a little bit embarrassed that I let my son have a cookie for breakfast but DH reminded me that he did eat oranges in the room so at least he had some vitamins right?"


"I forgot to take a picture of the sandwich that DH had but it's the typical sandwich you can get it Starbucks for breakfast."

"I also forgot to take a picture of DS is cookie until he had eaten most of it but here you go...




"We went back to Columbia Harbor House for lunch and this time it was open. DH decided have the tuna fish sandwich since he likes them a lot and I hate them so he really doesn't have a lot of opportunity at home."




"We subbed out french fries for the chips as DS loves french fries and I knew he would probably eat plenty of them."




"I ordered the hummus sandwich because I absolutely love the stuff and my family can't stand it."





"I subbed Broccoli for the chips again because it's one of DS' favorites and he enjoyed having his cup of vegetables and I enjoyed having him eat a cup of vegetables instead of sugar."




"For dessert we had to peach cobblers and these are really a surprise. It was the fruit covered with almost like a biscuit and then I had vanilla sauce. They were also served warm and we all really liked these."






"Then on the way out of Magic Kingdom, I might've had to stop for another seven pump skinny vanilla latte. This is almost getting embarrassing."

"Then we decided to take the monorail over to Epcot. We spent the afternoon enjoying Epcot and did stop to get a pretzel for DS for a snack but forgot to take a picture."

"It was getting late and we decided to head over to one of our neighbors for dinner tonight. We went to Port Orleans Riverside to have some dinner before coming back to the resort to do some swimming (or rather spend some time in the hot tub since it's actually pretty chilly tonight)."

"DH and I decided to share some of the carved meat platters. We had roast beef and Turkey breast both served with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and cornbread."




"DS opted for the individual pepperoni pizza."





"He liked most of this but when he went deep the crust was a little bit too greasy so he ended up having a lot of the turkey and corn instead."​

"I had the miso-glazed mero - sustainable Hawaiian sea bass with sticky soy, ****ake ginger rice and black garlic."




"Also excellent and both portions were very reasonable."



"DD had the kids spaghetti - very good but huge portion! And other DD had the kids filet with broccolini and mashed potatoes - our excellent server helped cut her steak!"

That fruit plate from Kona looks especially good. It doesn't look like there is a lot of melon, which I don't like, in it. Just good stuff like pineapple, Kiwi, strawberries, bananas and grapes. Yummmmm.

I will also be arriving at Disney World tomorrow and will be there until 12/13. My DD Emily will be joining me for the last three nights of my trip, arriving on 12/10. She is the only one of my family who did not get to go on our last trip in March (so therefore is not in the above photo), so this is her make-up trip. Also she just turned 21 in October so we will be doing some celebrating!


So my flight leaves at 6:30 am tomorrow and shamefully I have only one thing packed. Well, actually make that three things...

​

And yes, three Magic Bands means that during my 8 night trip I am staying at 3 different resorts. I was unable to get an AP room discount for all 8 nights at any one of my resort choices so resort hopping it is! My first 3 nights are at the Yacht Club, next two at the Boardwalk Inn, and the final 3 nights with my DD at the Wilderness Lodge. So if you happen to be staying at one of these resorts or visiting, be on the lookout for me. I'll be the one wandering the hallways trying to remember what my room number is at that hotel.


I haven't heard from any of our reporters yet today (the final day for live updates), so I guess I should try and get some more packing done before I go to work.

Wishing everyone a safe and fun filled trip! A last minute change in Todd's company Xmas party has allowed us to spend a day at WDW!

We are going to arrive this Friday at the BWV around 9:30 am and head straight to Epcot for snacking and tasting and drinking and snacking some more! Should be in HS by 2pm and will stay to closing. Saturday we have a late breakfast at Boma and then we are going to a Xmas party in Sarasota.

A short trip is better than no trip at all
