She said, "After spending some time by the pool this afternoon, we decided to head over to Downtown Disney. It wasn't that busy and so after examining some of the shops we decided to start dinner with dessert at...


Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop


"We got the salted caramel sundae which had salt, salted caramel, whipped cream, hot fudge and vanilla ice cream."




"It was absolutely divine, but made me so sick to my stomach. I could barely stand it for at least a half an hour."


"I'm weird though so definitely try the sundae - it probably wouldn't make anybody else feel like that. DH was just fine."

"One thing about the size however, it was perfect for the two of us to share but it did seem very small for being almost $10 before DVC discount."

"After the sundae, we did some more shopping and then decided to go to Wolfgang Puck Express to get pizza to bring back to the room. It was pretty busy and seemed like it was going to be a long wait so we decided to go with option two. We ran over to Port Orleans French Quarter and ordered a large pepperoni pizza with two desserts and some drinks to bring back to the room for a picnic."




"We picked out a bottle of Fanta orange for DS, an Aquafina for me, a hand dipped and mixed chocolate shake (dessert) for DH and some cutie oranges for the other dessert."











"This was all two counter service credits and we had plenty of food, plus some left over, and enjoyed it very much."

"The chocolate shake was made from chocolate ice cream with what looked like 2% milk and then mixed. After that she put chocolate sauce in the cup and then overfilled it quite a bit. But it was absolutely wonderful and hit the spot for DH, who for some reason did want more ice cream after the sundae at Ghirardelli (a few hours earlier)."

"The pizza was very good for what it was and we certainly enjoyed having a picnic dinner inside the room."​

The broccoli looks good too! I saw you requested the sauces on the side for the turkey- I'd like to do the same. Should I ask when we check in at the podium or tell the server once we are seated?

Tell your server. And they will take care of it. DS is very pickey and doesn't like sauces or red meat so we asked for the turkey and potatoes on a separate plate with no garnish or sauces. The potatoes usually have chives on them but he wouldn't eat them that way.

"I know the restaurant gets mixed reviews but we always love it and have great character interaction."











"My first plate included pizza, a roll, corn, mashed potatoes, wild rice, mickeyroni and cheese, spaghetti and a meatball, and chicken nuggets!"







"My mom's plate included salad, mickeyroni and cheese, carrots, green beans, broccoli, chicken nuggets, and pasta salad."







"My second plate included baked salmon, carrots, green beans, lemon pepper chicken, cheese tortellini, and roast beef."







"My dessert plate consisted of chocolate and vanilla ice cream with caramel and hot fudge. I also had a plate with strawberry cake, carrot cake, pumpkin cheesecake, and a brownie."







"My mom's dessert plate included vanilla ice cream with caramel and hot fudge which she then cut the banana into...

"Also the gingerbread tree at the Contemporary is really cool!"

"Had breakfast in the room before heading to DHS... Corn Pops for the guys and Greek yogurt for me. Nothing special."

'Had lunch after a few rides at Fairfax Fare. We used two credits and got the chicken and ribs combo, fanta soda and pumpkin cupcake."









"The second was the Fairfax Salad, smart water and cupcake."








"The ribs and chicken were very nice for what they are. The salad was really good - veggies, cheese, tortilla chips, jalapeño ranch dressing and chili. We liked it a lot."


"The pumpkin cupcakes with maple buttercream were also good. Light pumpkin flavor and the maple was really good with it. They were huge so we only ate half of them but they were a nice treat." ​

Pam said, "DS had his usual cheese pizza with blue Powerade. He ate every bite."





"DH had the Chipotle BBQ burger, it has cheese bacon and onion rings on it. He said it was very good."





"I had the chicken nuggets and fries which DS helped me on. "





"Dessert was an apple blossom...

"She said, "The food and service were just OK. Most of the characters seemed rushed. We only booked this because DS really wanted to do it for Stitch and Stitch juice. Probably won't do it again."

She said, "This morning we got going a little late. We went to Hollywood Studios."

"We also had a late lunch at Min and Bill's dockside diner. We got an Italian Sausage with peppers and onions with a bag of Disney chips. A chocolate shake and a bottle of water. (Sorry forgot the picture)"


"We stopped to watch a couple of the Citizens of Hollywood. There are always great!

"We also made a stop into the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house and their Christmas tree." (no photos received)​

Our last update from yesterday was a two-part one sent to us by slk537.

She said, "For dinner tonight we decided we wanted to go see Frozen at the AMC Fork and Screen theater... When we got there an hour before the movie started, it was already sold out so we had to decide if we were going to wait another two and a half hours or go someplace else."

"In the end we decided to do something else. But before we went we did see the Namaste food truck and the truck for Disney Studios over by Cirque. It all looks really good and we might have to try something from there later."

"We decided to leave property and use the first of our restaurant gift cards at Longhorn Steakhouse. We really fell in love with this restaurant on our last trip in May and we're looking forward to going back. We enjoyed it this summer in Green Bay but there aren't any located anywhere around where we live."

"We started with bread and whipped butter."



"The bread is served warm - crispy on the outside and soft inside and tastes very good. Before we ripped into it DH thought it looked like a gigantic peanut butter cookie and it really does."


"Then we ordered the Oktoberfest pretzel rolls appetizer which came with a beer cheese dipping sauce and a bacon mustard dipping sauce."




"Yes. Bacon. Mustard. Sauce. Amazing!!!"




"DS ordered the Kids sirloin and got broccoli on the side."




"He really loved this and ate everything. We were thrilled that he ate something that had protein and vitamins in it instead of just pure sugar."


"DH ordered the 12 ounce prime rib with brussel sprouts au gratin on the side and the harvest Apple salad as well."






"The salad had spinach, pecans, Craisins, fried sweet potato chips, full slices of bacon, really thin slices of cooked apple and a really great vinaigrette dressing. We shared the salad - it was huge and really really very good. The first photo is just of the salad the second photo has a bread plate next to it which is a more common size for a side salad. Got to put the size into context. I also like how DH has his hands almost folded waiting patiently for me to take a picture."




"DH ordered his prime rib medium rare and it was absolutely delicious. It came with a spicy horseradish cream and an au jus."




"The brussel sprouts au gratin had cream, cheese bacon and breading on top. If you like brussel sprouts it was absolutely wonderful. If you don't like brussel sprouts, the sauce would've been awesome on its own. I also shared these things with DH."

"For my own dinner I ordered the Asiago broccoli cheddar soup."




"In the end I ate too much of the pretzel, DH's meal and a salad and ended up taking the soup back to the room. So happy we have a kitchenette."




"We had a really excellent meal here but were too full for dessert. The total of all of this including two additional sodas - one for DS and one for DH was (before tax and tip) $47. Absolutely a great deal!"


"We loved our dinner here and will definitely be back before we go home."



"After we finished with our dinner we decided to go look at decorations at some of the resorts. When we got to Animal Kingdom Lodge we had to go down to the Mara because I needed some zebra domes. In addition to the zebra domes we also picked out a Caramel apple cupcake and some Kalamata olive hummus. Great use of some snack credits."













"Finally when we got back to the resort DH wanted to stop and get a Mickey ice cream sandwich (no pic). These are very popular in my family. We were down to 10 snack credits left and we have 25 counter service credits so for the same ice cream sandwich we decided to get a pepperoni flatbread to take back to the room as a snack, a smart water, and the ice cream using a counter service credit. Everything was really good and it turned out to be good decision."

One more time, for anyone who might have missed the previous announcement which I made a couple of weeks ago regarding our upcoming trip (and because my plans have changed slightly).


In addition to Linda and myself, joining us at Disney World during this trip will be Brenda (emmysmommy), her daughter Emily (JustEmmy), Paula (smile4stamps), Vicki (GoofySon'sMom), Rachel (rachel09985), and Patty (emmebear). [There are also some scheduled guest appearances by other DISers, which I will keep as a surprise. ] Though Linda will be doing her own dining report from her two week trip, the rest of us plan to do a joint dining report here on the live thread. So although the live reporting will come to an end on Dec. 4, the thread will continue on until the completion of our dining report.


It is also my hope that we have many surprise guest appearances in this live thread grand finale. So if you happen to be visiting Disney World during this time and see any of us out and about in the parks or at any of our many scheduled dining events, please do not hesitate to say hello...but be forewarned, with this group there will be photos taken.

In order to increase my chances of meeting as many of you as possible, I'm going to give you a general idea of where you might find me. I have added one more night to my original plans, which I posted a couple of weeks ago. So hopefully, I'll be able to catch a few more people during my bonus days.



Thurs., 12/5 - My arrival day. I'll be meeting up with Rachel at Epcot on Thurs. afternoon.

Thurs. evening, 12/5 - Most of our group will be meeting for cocktails at bluezoo at 7:00. Come join us for a drink if you are in the area.


Fri.,12/6 - I'll be spending the day with Brenda & Emily (morning at MK, afternoon at Epcot).


Sat., 12/7 - Starting the day at MK, then park hopping to AK for the afternoon.


Sun. morning, 12/8 - Look for me at MK.


Mon, 12/9 - EPCOT BAR CRAWL

Nearly the entire group will be present for this ... and whether it's for just a quick hello or for the entire trek around World Showcase, please join us if you can as we toast and bid a fond farewell to the Live Thread.


As of this writing, we plan to begin and end our day in France, meeting at 10:00 a.m. for breakfast at the bakery and ending at the ice cream shop sometime around 3:00 - 3:30. In between, we plan to make stops at the slushie stand in France, Tutto Gusto, La Cava (I believe in that order) and perhaps a few other quick stops if time permits. If you are a former live reporter and still have my cell number, feel free to text me for our exact location.

Mon. night, 12/9 - Several of us will be park hopping over to DHS to see the Osborne Lights, so look for us there.


Tues., 12/10 - Some of us will be starting the day at Epcot and then park hopping over to MK for the afternoon.


Tues. evening, 12/10 - Myself and several others are attending the MVMCP And a new addition to my plans, my daughter will be arriving on this afternoon and will be with me at the party and for the remainder of my trip.


Wed., 12/11 - Look for Vicki and my daughter & me at DHS this morning, then we're park hopping over to Epcot to meet Brenda & Emily for lunch before Vicki has to leave. My daughter and I plan to stick around Epcot for the afternoon.

Thurs., 12/12 - My daughter and I will be at MK in the morning, then Epcot in the afternoon. We might be doing our own mini Epcot Bar Crawl (since she is not able to attend the one on Monday), so let me know if you'd like to meet up with us for a drink.

Friday, 12/13 - Look for my daughter and I at Downtown Disney this morning and early afternoon before our flight home on Friday evening.

So if your plans happen to coincide with any of mine, please take a minute to say hi. Keep an eye out for me at Epcot on Thursday! I'll be there (me and my daughter will both be wearing Minnie dresses). Would LOVE to meet up!!!
Also Sunday is our MK day as well. Daughter will have a pink Minnie dress and my son is going to have a Splash Mountain shirt on. I'm still not sure what to wear!
We're doing 19 ADR's in 8 days plus 70 snacks between the 5 of us. Definitely planning on a dining report after this one!

Wow - the plans for December sound so exciting, and it's great that your daughter will be joining you for part of the trip.

One more thing - I recently read that my favorite WDW snack location (L'Artisan des Glaces) is serving gingerbread ice cream for the holiday season! Just throwing it out there as a recommendation (or possibly because I'd like to hear how it is). Whatever you end up choosing there, I hope you enjoy it.
