No Longer coming to you Live from Disney World! Take 3 DDW'S TAMBU LOUNGE 8/6

Ahhh reminders of great food at WDW... seeing those pancakes at Kona Café! And those wonderful zeppoles at VN that were part of my "mission" that you gave me over a year ago Barb! :thumbsup2

It's good to see that California Grill still doesn't disappoint. That filet looks pretty good!

Julie's next two part update was from last night at Epcot.

She said, "We are dinner at...

"We got a great seat one row back from the tank!"

"We liked the sourdough rolls...

...and DH had another Cigar City Jai Alai IPA."

"He really enjoyed this beer - it's from a small brewery in Tampa and can't be found outside of Florida. It gets very high ratings and he loved it!"

"DH had the mahi mahi with laughing shrimp which he enjoyed a lot! The coconut lime sauce was bright and flavorful."

"I had the lobster bisque and the flash fried nori-wrapped tuna - both off the appetizer menu. Both were delicious!"

"DD had a kids portion of the lobster bisque and a fruit salad - no photo, sorry!"

"We also had the mango-coconut chiffon cake for dessert. Very light and tasty!"

"Later we stopped by...

...and I tricked DH into trying the Beverly!" ;)

"Also, Epcot's Christmas tree went up yesterday! Beautiful!"

Then Julie's final update was from their breakfast this morning at the Yacht Club's...

She said, "Sadly, this was our last meal before hopping in the Magical Express. This was a nice, relaxing meal - lots of good menu options. I went with the buffet, and DH had the eggs Benedict (he subbed the crab for an English muffin). I forgot a picture though!"

"The buffet was great and had a few unique items!"

Julie's choices from the buffet...

"I especially enjoyed the tomato gratin (with blue cheese) and the bacon and caramelized onion egg tart. The Joffreys coffee was a welcome change too!!"

"Oh, and they had little carafes for syrup - we thought this was a great idea."

Julie then concluded her live reporting with these final thoughts.

She said, "We had an amazing trip! Great weather, a good mix of fun and relaxation, got to try some F&W treats, and had some good meals."

"We loved the Jai Alai IPA and the Grand Marnier slushie. The kids breakfast meal at BC Marketplace was an awesome deal. We will skip California Grill in future trips, but would definitely do Flying Fish, SAI, and Coral Reef again. We will probably skip character buffets in the future - a little hectic, and mediocre food. We would definitely do Captains Grille again too - kind of a hidden gem!"

"Thanks for letting us share the dining part of our trip! It was fun!"

And since that was Julie's final update, it's now time to say...

So sadly one of our live reporters is on her way home today :worried:, however happily another one has just arrived and sent us this travel/intro update from the Orlando airport. :)

Cara (caravarela) said, "Hi everyone, just a quick introduction. My name is Cara, and we have just landed in Orlando for a week at CBR. My cast of characters includes me...

... and my DH Joe, DS8 Daniel, and DD6 Kaitlyn."

"On the agenda for today are check in at CBR, lunch at Earl of Sandwich, and on to Epcot where we'll have dinner at Teppan Edo! Can't wait!"

Then another update was just received from Cara & family.

She said, "Our first meal of the trip was a lunch at...

"This is always a must do for us!"

"DD and I both got the turkey club...

"So delicious and there is a ton of meat so it's very filling!"

"DH got the Italian and he really enjoyed it."

"DS got his favorite, the chicken noodle soup."

"It was scorching hot so it took awhile to eat, but he slurped up every drop!"

"For sides, we got 2 bags of chips (not pictured) and 2 brownies."

"I was disappointed they were out of brownie sandwiches, but the regular ones were still great! Very thick, moist, and fudgy. I got the seasonal peppermint brownie and LOVED it. Not too strong, but definite peppermint flavor from the candy came bits."

"We also used one of our drinks to grab a bottle of water for later. Here's our receipt. It cost 4 QS DDP credits."

"Our rating: 10/10 for QS value and yummy, filling food!" :thumbsup2

Did you get the official email invitation or just us the link? I saw some conflicting reports recently and am getting nervous about my non-invite FP+ for BoG lunch. THANKS!!

Sorry. I just saw your post. I didn't get official invite. I learned from the board and linked my MB bands number as I had package reservation is letters which would not input. I had no problem with our FP+ booking.:goodvibes

Since I am now nearly caught up with posting today's live updates, I am going to break away from our regularly scheduled programming. I'd like to take a moment to put a plug in for my own upcoming trip to Disney World (Dec. 5 - 12) and the dining report which will serve as the grand finale for this Live Thread. Although this dining report will not be "live", I am confident that it will be a fitting end for this thread that I have been hosting now for more than a year. The reason for my confidence? This dining report will be the joint effort of several of the talented dining reviewers from here on the Dining Reviews forum of the DIS. All of them have served as reporters for the live thread multiple times, as well as completed their own dining reports.

So who are these individuals that I will have the honor of dining with during my week at Disney World?

Rachel (rachel09985) & her DBF, Corey

Patty (emmebear) & her DD, Emme

Paula (smile4stamps) & her DH, Hunter

Brenda (emmysmommy) & and her DD, Emily (JustEmmy)

Vicki (GoofySon'sMom), pictured here with her DS, Andrew (who unfortunately will not be along on this trip)

Linda (Linda67) & her DH, Philip

(Note: Linda plans to do her own dining report from their two week trip to the World, but I'm hoping she will chime in often on the joint dining report too.)

Oh, and I almost forgot, yours truly...

Barb (jabead), pictured here with two of my kids (who will not be present on this trip)

In addition, if all goes as planned, there will be some other DISboard members joining us for a meal. I've decided to keep these a secret though, so you will just have to read our report to discover the identities of our mystery guests. ;)

I am also hoping to have many surprise guest appearances in this live thread grand finale. So if you happen to be visiting Disney World during this time and see any of us out and about in the parks or at any of our many scheduled dining events, please do not hesitate to say hello...but be forewarned, with this group there will be photos taken. :lmao:

However, in order to increase my chances of meeting as many of you as possible, I'm going to give you a general idea of where you might find me (and at least one or more of my cohorts).

Thurs. afternoon, 12/5 - Meeting Rachel at Epcot.

Thurs. evening, 12/5 - Most of the group will be meeting for cocktails at bluezoo at 7:00.

Fri.,12/6 - I'll be spending the day with Brenda & Emily (morning at MK, afternoon at Epcot).

Sat., 12/7 - Look for several of us at MK in the morning and AK in the afternoon.

Sun., 12/8 - Look for us at MK.

Mon, 12/9 - :cheer2: EPCOT BAR CRAWL :cheer2:

Nearly the entire group will be present for this ... and whether it's for just a quick hello or for the entire trek around World Showcase, please join us if you can as we toast and bid a fond farewell to the Live Thread.

As of this writing, we plan to begin and end our day in France, meeting at 10:00 a.m. for breakfast at the bakery and ending at the ice cream shop sometime around 3:00 - 3:30. In between, we plan to make stops at the slushie stand in France, La Cava, Tutto Gusto, Via Napoli for lunch at 2:00 (we still have a few open spots for this ADR, for anyone interested) and perhaps a few others if time permits. I'll try to post the order at which we plan to visit these locations sometime soon, which will give you a general idea of where to find us that day. And of course, if you are a former live reporter and still have my number, feel free to text me for our exact location. :thumbsup2

Mon. night, 12/9 - Several of us will be park hopping over to DHS to see the Osborne Lights

Tues., 12/10 - Some of us will be starting the day at Epcot and then park hopping over to MK for the afternoon.

Tues, 12/10 - Myself and several others are attending the MVMCP :santa:

Wed., 12/11 - Look for Vicki and me at DHS this morning, then we're park hopping over to Epcot to meet Brenda & Emily for lunch before Vicki has to leave. :(

Thurs., 12/12 - This is my departure day :sad1:, but Linda & Philip and Brenda & Emily are there for a few more days so continue to be on the lookout for them.

So if your plans happen to coincide with any of mine (ours), please take a minute to say hi. :goodvibes And for everyone else who will not be able to join us in December, please join us in spirit by reading about our dining adventures here on the live thread...look for that to begin sometime around the 16th of December. :thumbsup2

I am very excited to meet you all!! But very sad to see the live thread end! We will be in the world the 4th thru the 17th so I will hopefully have plenty of time to meet u all!

Even though I am a bit melancholy that the GoofySon will not be joining us, I cannot wait for this trip to see Barb, Brenda & Em again and to meet all the others that I feel I already know!

So c'mon and join us any other Disers who will be around!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3: :dance3:

Emme & I are so excited for this trip. Although we will be there for just 1.5 days, it will be an absolute blast!

Rachel, Corey, Emme & I will be at MK for MVMCP on Friday Dec 6th if anyone else will be there. :)

Hooray!! :)

Thank you barb for all your hard work & dedication to this thread.

Hi Barb! Looking at your plans, the only days that overlap and are at the same park would be Monday at DHS for Osborne Lights. We've got a FP+ for fantasmic that night. Depending on how DD does, we may end up skipping that, but we'll definitely be seeing the Osborne lights that night! Maybe we'll bump into each other.

Yay! I am so excited for our trip! I can't wait! Disney at christmastime is even more magical! And this trip will be extra special because I get to meet so many friends.

We arrive on the 12th so we will just miss you. We initially planned on a 3-day weekend to celebrate my birthday (on the 11th) and our 10 year anniversary (which was in October) but DH and I both had a couple of extra days off to use so we will have 5 nights in Disney World to experience all that the Christmas season has to offer! Its the best time of year to visit!

I've been reading this the thread since the start, it's been brilliant. I'll be sad to see it end.

I'm in Disney 2 - 12 December so will be keeping an eye for all of you. We'll be at Epcot Friday 6 and the Christmas Party on 10 too.

I'm so excited for this trip
Can't wait to see 10 cameras being whipped out as the entrees arrive ;)

I wish I could go :( cant wait to hear all about it!
