No longer a DVC member

Hiya

Well we didnt have DVC membership for long.

After coming home paying the down payment. We realised that it was not a good idea after all. Ok DVC is worth it. I am now a full time student on a bursary. The money was going to be tight. Any chance of us returning within the next three years with the DVC payment would be tight. Also we have been thinking that when I qualify as a nurse we are looking to emigrate to Oz. If we do would we use DVC? Prob not. With all this and current financial side we re-sold our DVC. Thankfully Disney were more than happy to take it back. Having said that if we want to buy into DVC again they will use our downpayment we already have made towards our next purchase. So if we do re-buy when time is right our downpayment is sorted, but if we dont then we
have lost some money

We are just about to book our holiday for Aug 09 with free dining at PORR. God knows how that will feel now after seeing the AKV.

Sorry to hear that . However at least you still have trips to WDW to look forward too, I don't think DVC is a good deal if it means you can't afford to go. We stayed at POR last year and thought it was a lovely resort.

I know how you feel Michelle - we were lucky in that DH's redundancy money paid outright for our DVC. I really wanted to buy more points at BLT but, at the moment, it just is not financially viable - hmmm, maybe if I stopped going to Disney I could afford to buy more points. Kind of a double-edged sword

If it's not right, it's not right, Michelle. So well done for having the good sense to cancel. We ended up cancelling the first time we looked into DVC back in 2000 - when we got back home we realised it was too much money for us at the time and TBH it just felt wrong. We never regretted that decision and only got around to buying points in January 2007 when the whole deal seemed so much more straightforward...

Do it when the time is right. We toured in 1992 and bought in 2002.

PO is a lovely resort. Possibly the best of the moderates. The grounds (including its neighbor -- Dixie Landings) are beautiful and wonderful for quiet walks. Rent a boat and enjoy a quiet ride along the waterways to DD.
