No kids, no husbands & no rain! Girls weekend at BWI! - NEW 11/12 p16 -The End!

What an absolutely beautiful day! All that sunshine and the excitement of taking the boat to DHS! Does it get any better than that? :lovestruc

You got the cowboy side...I'm so jealous!! What's a girl got to do around here to get the cowboy side LOL

:

I'm starting to think there isn't a gangster!

You need to ride in the second "car" for the gangster. Since I started using a scooter we always get loaded in the car in the back and we always get a gangster. DH said he's gonna ride without me sometime just so he can see the cowboy scene again.

Looking forward to hearing about your trip. My family was there the same time as you ladies. I would love to go to WDW with some girlfriends and no children. I'm sure you had a great time.
Jill

I can't believe I missed the beginning of this, I am so happy to have found it!

Oh no a snoring man AND inconsiderate people with no earphones?? I would never do that.

I love all the mickey head details in the room! You got a great view, how wonderful.

Your pictures are fantastic and amazing, it makes me miss WDW so much. I have never noticed the control booth area of Beauty and the Beast since we do the accessible seating in the front. It was interesting to see. I hope the review lady liked it too, it is one of our favorite things. Although the theater is in need of repainting and sprucing up.

Wow, I haven't seen a line for the Muppets like that in a very long time. We like that show. Sounds like you are enjoying your first day so far, I can't wait to read more.

It was gorgeous! Doesn't get much better than that! :cloud9:

I know... the cowboy again! I really want the gangster next time! Go figure! :headache:

I guess I had it backwards... I was thinking the first car was the gangster & the second car was the cowboy. And come to think of it, we were in an accessible car! The last two rows of the first car were shorter so an ECV or wheelchair could fit in. You should ask if it's possible to ride in the first car next time. :confused3

:welcome: It was really fun spending a weekend at WDW with a friend. I'm REALLY lucky to be able to do so twice this year!

:welcome: Hi Tracy!! So glad you found me!! :goodvibes Luckily the flight to Orlando was the worst part of the trip & we got it over with first thing!

We really enjoyed B&B... it was my first time! The control booth thing was fun too!

The Muppets thing was crazy! I think everyone from the Jedi training headed there. It was fine later in the day.

I think someone asked this earlier and I missed it in my replies… the temps were in the 80s every day. Probably mid – upper 80s. Some days seemed a little hotter than others, but I think it was just when we were in the sun. The heat really never bothered us too much. There were a few times we felt the need to seek shade, but I don’t remember feeling sweaty all weekend. I never showered at night, always in the morning. When it’s really hot I shower after returning from the parks instead.

Back to the TR... When I left off we were headed to the Backlot Tour...

When we got to the Backlot Tour we asked if we could bring drinks on the tour. We were told yes, so we went in search of beverages. We wanted Vitamin Water (we saw some up near Rosie’s so knew they sold it at Disney) but couldn’t find any. We settled for regular water & went on the tour. It was fun to share it with someone who hadn’t seen it, but I didn’t really see anything new – except the set of the LMA Stunt Show & the Star Wars & PoTC movie costumes at the end. I took a bunch of pictures but I’ll just post a handful of them.

Here is the first part:

Continued from previous post...

After the tour we headed to 50s PTC. Along the way we saw that Mulch, Sweat & Sheers were playing. We didn’t have time to stop but I snapped a couple pictures:
100_2206.jpg

100_2207.jpg

We had a 4:35 ADR at 50s PTC… or so we thought. Apparently I changed it to 5:50 at some point and hadn’t updated one of my lists. Unfortunately we were both pretty hungry so we decided to head to Anaheim Produce for a pretzel, fruit & vitamin water.

After our snack we did a little window shopping. We decided not to buy anything since we’d be visiting Mousegear at Epcot & DTD later in the weekend. It was right about now that Laura mentioned that her toe was hurting. We stopped so she could put a band aid on her toe. We hoped this wasn’t a sign of bad foot karma to come!

We still had time before our real ADR so we headed back to Muppets 3D. This time there was no line & the doors to the theater were just opening as we arrived in the pre-show area! The show was cute. There was a Kermit hat in the gift shop that I really should have purchased for Zach. I loved it but figured I would see it again sometime during the weekend. Unfortunately I didn’t! I guess there’s always next time. (The same thing happened with a t-shirt I saw for Tim that day.) Laura & I had a duh moment during the show. When we exited and were walked toward 50s PTC Laura mentioned that she had never realized that Dr. Honeydew was named after a honeydew because of the shape of his head! I laughed because I realized the same thing during the show!

We finally made it to our ADR at 50s PTC – and the waiting area/living room was packed! We figured we’d be waiting a while to be seated, but we were seated within just a couple minutes of arriving! We had a great “uncle” serving us & a great meal as well. I had the pot roast (as usual) and Laura had the chicken. She also got a chocolate milk shake. It was huge and she only had a little bit of it so Uncle so-and-so gave us two cups to go! Laura poured her glass into hers and gave me the rest of what was in the big metal cup. It was yummy! It was almost 7pm so we headed to Fantasmic! We decided to see the 8pm Fantasmic and see how we felt after (we were getting pretty tired). We were seated & within 20 minutes the theater was full & it was standing room only! Around 7:30 I got up and stood in line for popcorn. Right at 8pm the show began!! I had forgotten how great the show was!

After Fantasmic we decided to see how long the stand by line was at TSM. My phone said 70 minutes but we wanted to see it for ourselves. We got there and the posted time was 70 minutes, but Laura wanted to do it!

100_2250.jpg

I was a little worried she’d have such high expectations that she’d be disappointed… but she wasn’t! And luckily we only had to wait 35 minutes!!

I kicked her butt:

After TSM we made our way out of the park, beating the 9:30 Fantasmic exodus. Laura mentioned that her ankle was hurting now too! We slowly walked down to the boat dock where there was a boat waiting for us! It hung out for a few minutes as a few more people boarded then we took off, stopped at the Swolphin, BC/YC then BWI. We stopped at the Boardwalk Bakery and purchased refillable mugs & breakfast pastries. Next stop – the front desk at BWI to get an ice pack for Laura’s ankle! When we got back to our room, our luggage had arrived. We settled in & were asleep by 11pm! I don’t think I’ve ever slept so well at a hotel!

Up next: Day Two!

Wow, great first day! Did you feel like one of you was more "commando" than the other, or were you equally enthusiastic? Probably when one person begins to have foot problems, that person tends to be a little slower, but it sounds like you managed to do quite a bit!

Awesome about the wait time for TSM being HALF the posted time!!

Sounds like a great first day. We haven't done the Backlot Tour for ages, don't think we've done it since DD13 was very little. Might have to add that back to the list now that they're older.

Great luck on the shorter wait for TSM. I think that late in the night close to closing they don't update those counters very often. Sometimes I think they do it on purpose to discourage people from getting into line just before closing. :rolleyes1

I hope Laura's foot/ankle problems don't stick around for long.

Great first day! Well I guess the good thing about the ADR mixup is that it was later than you thought, not earlier...so at least you didn't miss it!

I'm worried about Laura's feet though.

I'm amazed at a posted wait of 70, it was really only 35!

What a wonderful first day! I am going to have squirrel away that bit about bringing drinks on the Backlot Tour -- good to know! Love all your pictures!!! :goodvibes

I think we were on the same wavelength as far as our park touring pace. I would have been happy to skip TSM but I'm glad that Laura wanted to go for it since the wait only ended up being 35 minutes!

There were a few times that I left it up to Laura whether we took a break or not and she was always happy to keep touring. It worked out really well!! I think she wanted to take it all in & rest when we got back home!

Can I just say, your pictures are amazing!!

:welcome: Thank you! I can't believe I took almost 600 pictures over the four days! I think it was much easier to walk around with the camera without the kids there to look after.

It was a great way to start off our trip! :thumbsup2 I'm glad we did the backlot tour because it had been quite a while for me too. I probably won't do it again any time soon though...

I agree about the wait times at night... They probably stop using the little red tracking cards at a certain hour.

More on Laura's foot & ankle later...

Luckily we didn't miss our ADR! That would have stunk!

Don't worry too much about Laura... ;)

Drinks on the backlot tour were a good thing... but there was a lot more standing than I had remembered. I remembered the tram and the little bit with the water at the beginning, but it seemed to take forever to get to the tram after that. Sitting with drinks would have been better, but it is what it is.

Thanks for the Backlot pictures....reminds why I don't do it anymore

I'm with you on the wait times not being accurate at the end of the night. My last trip Big Thunder RR had a posted wait time of 20 minutes...it was walk-on!

Awesome first day! Thanks for posting the pictures of the Backlot tour. I have only done it once and I would love to see the Star War costumes, so for that reason I may have to do it in May!

I hope everyone's toes and ankles hold up for Day 2! Great updates!

I just love exploring the prop shop and the costumes at the end of the Backlot tour, I also love the little shop they have!! SO MUCH FUN!! Your pictures were fantastic!!!

Hmmmm...50s PTC...I'm eating there in January and can't wait! I have my eyes on the smores for dessert LOL!!!!

YAY for Fantasmic! I haven't seen it in years! I would like to see it in January but we're playing it by ear there so we'll see! It is a wonderful show!!!

What a great evening at DHS!! Glad you enjoyed 50's PTC.

I hope Laura's ankle was ok:scared1:

It was a GREAT way to start our trip. DHS is so pretty at night... but I guess MK & Epcot are too... never been to AK after dark. :confused3

Thanks for the Backlot pictures....reminds why I don't do it anymore

:rotfl:

The posted wait times are usually pretty accurate so it's a nice bonus to "beat" it by so much! :thumbsup2

You can probably go in the costume area without riding the tour. :confused3

I was really hoping Laura's toes/ankles would hold up! I was a bit worried!

Thanks Jen!

I love 50s PTC... The food is good & the atmosphere is awesome!

Hopefully the low January crowds will make Fantasmic doable for you. I'll be seeing it again in January with the Spectrum Moms. It's too bad our dates don't overlap anymore. :sad2:

Joining in! Great start Amy!! :goodvibes

I don't remember the climbing web either. :confused3 Now I have to go back and look at my photos...
