No gaiters only a mask with loops or ties

Can I just make a distinction here. The blue disposable ones with the ear loops are NOT surgical masks. The are used for minor medical procedures. The true surgical masks are much thicker and have ties at the head and neck. I have been given one when I entered a clinic to have a major biopsy and they are very hard to breathe in. Don't know how surgeons can not get lightheaded in them.

I am still experimenting with masks. The disposable ones tend to annoy me because they come too close to my eyes and there is a "gap" on the sides, they aren't flush against my face. So I did the hack to them where it makes them fit more like an N95 mask, and that works well, no more gap, not as close to my eyes, and it doesn't touch my nose or lips. My upper lip still sweats like crazy, but it's better than before.

I hear you about the upper lip. I've found ones that have pleats or gathers causing the material to "billow out", away from your face and allow more air space feel cooler. Still snug on the nose (I sew in a wire nose band), under chin and on cheeks but not close up to my mouth.

That is not 100% true while most disposable masks people are buying are not surgical they do make Surgical masks in both ear loop and ties. I am wearing a level 3 surgical mask right now that has ear loops.

Yeah, it changes the positioning of the loop so they are a little tighter for me as well. I can probably deal with it, but am also going to try to make one of those ear saver type things and see how that is. So many experiments to find the perfect mask for Disney. lol

I wonder if ear savers will be prohibited. Technically they will not pass the requirements unless the loops go over your ear which most don't with the ear saver.

I can't imagine a mask stays very well on coasters, either.

While the light blue "surgical" type masks are GREAT and lightweight for walking around the parks, mine wouldn't stay on when riding rollercoasters on our recent trip to Silver Dollar City.

Hello, saw you went to SDC. We live in Branson and are out there about every weekend. Luckily they are still allowing gaiters with or without earloops and have worked great for us there.

Those of us that wear glasses have to contend with fog. The gaiter does not seem to push the air up into my glasses, while the paper mask does. I tried all the tricks like shaving cream, soapy water, and even the windshield product "No Fog" and still have issues.

Right. This is not a normal summer, people. Yes things will get hot with a mask. Yes, maybe a gaiter is cooler. Under normal circumstances, cooler is better but we're still in the middle of a pandemic. Wear a proper bleeping mask! Your comfort is secondary. It's only for a few months. You'll be fine.

The only mask that actually prevents virus transmission is an N95. So pretty much anything else that blocks saliva is equivalent, as long as it stays in place. I don’t think folks need to be berated for trying to stay marginally more comfortable while serving the same purpose. Especially considering many folks already spent money on gaiters before the rules got updated. Recall not long ago the CDC was recommending “just use whatever you have, even a bandana.”

Have you tried Cat Crap? (I know, right!?! ) I use it on my ski goggles and it works great. Haven’t tried it on glasses yet as I haven’t had to wear a mask outside.

Yeah, still a debate about whether the virus travels via airborne route. If so, the masks or gaiters are equally ineffective (even surgical masks do not prevent airborne transmission). If it is droplet transmitted, then anything that stops spittle or sneezes will do.

Hmm.. I don't know. I didn't think about that, I guess I figured it makes it more like a mask with strap or a band that goes around your head. I guess that's a question to ask.
