My question is: how have you handled an excursion where there is no food/restaurant/snack place nearby? We are a family of 4 with 2 children (10 and 6) and we will at least need to have snacks with us throughout the day. We book our excursions on May 1 and I am looking at a few different beach ones for St Thomas/St John and Tortola and a few of them do not have any restaurants nearby. I've checked on Trip Advisor, etc and the reviews say the same thing. I vaguely remember rules from our first DCL cruise regarding certain food items that are not to taken off the ship, but what have you done in this circumstance? Can you take granola bars/bags of chips/etc off of the ship? Obviously we are not stuffing our bags with crab legs and pizza slices :) I could book an excursion with a restaurant nearby and I still might, but I am very interested to see how others have handled this. Thank you in advance!!

Yes, you can take any packaged snacks off the ship, as long as their packages remain factory sealed. We also order uncrustables from room service the night before. They are delivered in their packaging so they can be taken off the ship as well.

Wonderful! Good to know. The idea about the uncrustables is great. Both kids like those. Thanks so much!

I believe you have to request that room service folks NOT heat/defrost the uncrustables when you order so that they are delivered inside the wrapper.
The individual cereal packages are also available in the Cabannas and make good snacks
Enjoy!!

Have you checked the Ports of Call threads about those ports over on the cruisecritic message boards? There might very well be vendors with food.

We bought a bunch of individually wrapped items with us on the ship (from home) and took those with us on excursions. Those tuna kits with the pouches of condiments and crackers are great when you need a real meal. We also do bags of chips (I could not find these anywhere on board, so we were glad we brought our own), granola bars, bagged trail mix, and pirates booty.

Note that if you open something in port and do not finish it, its trash. The factory sealed policy goes both ways...getting off and getting on.
