No Electrical Parade this summer (2010)

According to the DisneyParks Blog, the Electrical Parade will be shown at the Magic Kingdom (MK) at WDW this summer.

Big news today…we’re thrilled to announce that one of the most beloved attractions in Disney history, the Main Street Electrical Parade, is returning to Magic Kingdom Park this summer – and it’ll be better than ever. The classic parade will feature new LED lights and new audio technology when it begins its limited engagement at Walt Disney World in early June 2010.

Tinker Bell will lead the parade waving from the basket of a magical balloon aboard a new float. The parade’s return is part of Summer Nightastic! — an amazing lineup of new and enhanced entertainment planned this summer at Walt Disney World theme parks. For example, there will be new lighting effects and a new addition to Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Also, Magic Kingdom will treat guests to a special summer fireworks spectacular.

There’s plenty more planned and we’ll have more details in upcoming weeks but we wanted to tell you what we knew first on The Disney Parks Blog. Check back here for more.

With World of Color debuting in April or May, and the demand for possibly even two shows per night, I'm thinking there just won't be time or space for the DEP in DCA this summer. Still wish they would just shuffle it on over to DL, though. Darn!

My DNephew was recently cast in the EP and it's starting 3-19 for a 4 to 5 week run. They will stop running it once WOC opens. That's what they are telling the CMs.

The Main Street Electrical Parade (also known as Disney's Electrical Parade) will indeed be transferring to the Walt Disney World Resort as part of this summer's Summer Nightastic! Special Event.

It isn't properly reflected in the posting on the DisneyParks.com Blog, but is so in the Press Release put out today by Walt Disney World Resort Public Relations.

With floats and characters appearing for the first time at Walt Disney World Resort, Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” returns with its joyous sights and sounds. Direct from Disneyland and marking its first engagement in Florida since 2001, the cherished parade will be led by Tinker Bell waving from the basket of a magical balloon aboard a new float. Pinocchio and Snow White join the parade this summer, aboard bright new floats.

The Parade will debut at Magic Kingdom Park in early June for a limited engagement.

Aww...what a bummer! I was totally looking forward to seeing DEP when I go in May Oh well, at least WoC will be open then...

I'm in tears right now, no joke. I made the plans for a summer trip because I really wanted o see the EP. I'd so much have rather seen it than WoC (which I'm sure will be amazing, but it's not the EP).

I'm really bummed about this. Going to have to debate wether or not this summer trip is worth it for me now.

That is sad, but understandable given the WOC debut. sigh. We are going to be there April 22-27 and I'm praying that it will still be running. For me it's nearly tied with RDCT as my favorite nighttime show. Far ahead of Fantasmic, which I love too!

The Magic Kingdom (MK) at WDW is expected to have the Magic, Music and Mayhem fireworks, from Mickey's Pirate and Princess Party (hard ticket event).

Originally, it was called the Main Street Electrical Parade because it ran on Main Street at DL. They moved it over to DCA and renamed it Disney's Electrical Parade. According to this post and the Disney Blog, they are moving it to Disneyworld this summer.

So short answer--yes, this is the parade usually at Disneyland (well, California Adventure).

I'm really bummed by this news as the EP is my all time favorite Disney parade. We are going to DLR this summer and the EP was a must see for me. I hope it will still be at WDW in October.

I will be at DL from 4/15-4/19, and I hope EP is still there. I have not seen EP in years. MSEP is still my favorite Disney parade. When I hear the music I get a huge smile on my face.

Actually, the Walt Disney World Resort will be debuting a new fireworks display unique for the Summer Nightastic! Special Event, different from any previous show in Florida or in California, including last year's Magical! show in California and the Magic, Music and Mayhem show in Florida.

Assuming I'm reading between the lines corrrectly, this is part of the ongoing effort at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to create a "One Disney" experience for Guests visiting both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

As such, I wouldn't be surprised if the Summer Nightastic! Special Event offerings, with Disney's World of Color replacing Disney's Electrical Parade obviously, also returns to the Disneyland Resort this summer.
