No DVC rooms week of June 17-24?

it is possible ones past 60 days could simply have been booked with points, even if those points are owned by DVD. They are allowed to do what we do, and it doesn’t count against breakage.

A random theory…maybe they will be changing online booking during 60 days and now require someone to call? This way all is pulled but can be recalled if it has not yet booked for cash?

But, regardless, it is obviously a time where points booking is going to be tough without a waitlist.

While possible, with the # of different rooms that were available from Jun 27-Jul 4 I would find it highly unlikely that they were simply booked, especially since the online booking tool didn't come back up until 10:00 or so last night and somebody posted the availability was gone right after that.

I don't tike that theory. Not saying it is not possible, but I think members would not be pleased. Regardless, with what happened, it's gonna change our booking patterns -- get what we want at 7 months and stop fiddling.....

I literally Pass the time between trips by fiddling with my next trip… my husband doesn’t even ask where we are staying now until the day before we leave 😅 I would be sad if I had to stop at 60 days.

Ya, we've given up on figuring out how many different iterations of trips we've had. Cause it's alot.

The only plus I can see if you have to call for last minute use is for those with holding points..but not that it would be my first choice either!!! Lol

Take this with a grain of salt considering the down time last night, but my wife just chatted w/a CM and was told it really was just a lot of bookings happening in a very short period of time.

But seriously? I mean maybe there were a whole bunch of dates left with only 1 room in each category left and then with the maintenance everyone booked everything...? But I seriously doubt it. I wonder if the hotel side just reclaimed a bunch of rooms for cash. You and I both know there's no way SSR booked up fully through June including the 1BRs.

I am going to call them later today when I have time. This is simply not acceptable. We had to change a reservation for later in may because one of my kids decided to sign up for a summer program that was not originally at all even a possibility when I originally booked. I booked at 12 months out for may because it was the summer month when absolutely nothing was going on! Well, until something was going on. So late March we started trying to shift it ONE week forward. I missed it by ONE lousy week! We have every day covered during the new week at the same resort but we have to switch rooms four times. Ugh. So like we are in a 2 bedroom one night. 2 studios next two nights. 1 bedroom and a studio the following night. Back to a 2 bedroom the next night. You get the idea. Not fun. I’ve been trying to clean it up and have had a few successes and was looking forward to a couple more. So I’ve been on the system for a month solid now every day repeatedly and then bam! Nothing is available at all. Out of curiosity I check all Disney resorts instead of isolating for my one resort and also not one room. What would have happened if they’d done this 60 days out in the end of March when I first started?

It’s frustrating I know but it’s part of the program. Once we get to the breakage period…60 days..those rooms can be used for cash guests if DVC chooses thst route

Many times there is soemtujng left but right now, it makes sense that May is completely booked.

It is the days beyond 60 that have me confused right now (particularly w/the website down for such a long period of time). There was so many different rooms available prior to maintenance.

They have the right to anticipate breakage as well..so some rooms can indeed get taken ahead of time.

But, given you are talking 70 days out, things disappearing one day to the next isn’t unusual. And, like I said, nothing to prevent DVD from booking. Or owners..could be a combination of both.

There is just no way that every room at every resort would be booked for every day. Sorry. Just not possible.

Since they no longer have to be offered to the membership if they want to try and sell for cash, it isn’t unreasonable that could be the reason as to why we might not be seeing them for booking online.

If they have pulled for that, then maybe want someone to call or chat why some have to call..so they can call a room book if that is an option

Of course, it could be a glitch..but if DVC says there is nothing to be booked, then there isn’t.

Just a theory…

Could this be a response to rental businesses doing confirmed reservations? We look at many sources for DVC rentals and I’ve noticed short reservations within 60 days popping up more and more frequently. Without going into tons of details, I think some of the business strategies fall back on using holding points and moving them until they sell.

IF… if something along these lines is going on well I can see why breakage would want to protect their interests because these newer booking patterns are getting in their way. Having to call is much more onerous to an entity juggling dozens of reservations than it is to personal use.

I actually had the same thought earlier and a couple of rental services come to mind.

Have you tried looking for cash rooms available for those same dates? You could use that during your call to point out the rooms are available, which should make them fairly likely to help.

You've also got inventory constantly moving. People reserve things just in case, including multiples for the same trip, and drop them as the dates get closer.

I wonder if the availability listed on the Last Minute Getaway's is cash inventory or if they can be booked via points? I searched the booking tool and there is no availability for these units or weeks in the booking tool but they are listed on the Last Minute Getaway webpage. It might be worth calling member services to see if any of these are available.

This is points based and updated only once a week…so, it’s only as accurate as the time it was posted….that is why it does say call..but you could also try online.

Just thought of something else while reading another thread. So, if DVC is now purchasing current use year points from customers at closing (the Magical Beginnings Promo), if somebody closes on say a Aug UY then DVC only has a limited time / availability to use those points. So they scoop up what they can. So between breakage, cruise trade-ins, and this new promo perhaps it is a perfect storm with the next 60+ days of availability?

Well, they do have the power to bank those points..just like any new owner when they let you bank after deadline for new purchases.

But, it could certainly allow them to book rooms as well.

And, thinking more about May..if things didn’t disappear until the past week, then those rooms were left under 31 days..

I also think the suggestion thst people who have points expiring may simply be grabbing last minute reservations to rent, even if a few nights here or there, could be a factor as well.
