No deposit ressie -- still there

Just wanted to follow up since there has been so much discussion regarding to deposit room only ressies.
I made my ressie 01/30/02 for POR/Riverside, seven nights the last week in May.
I have not paid a deposit. My confirmation does not ask for one.
I called back tonight to give my room requests and everything is as it should be!

I also got a comfirmation that said no deposit required. I also saw it said guaranteed which I took to mean by credit card. Since this was not the case, I called and am I glad I did. CM told me that my ressie would have cancelled if they had not recieved the deposit. We are going the week before Easter and just about everything is soldout. We are staying in 2 places, just to make 7 days. So we would have been out of luck. But I would have put up a fuss and had the paper work to back it up.They had better get it together down there.

My confirmation sheet says total $1039 - Deposit amount due $.00. Under amount Due it also say Guaranteed by Credit Card.

Now I know it's still in the system, because I called and confirmed it, but I did just find one thing that's very disturbing to me. I was promised on two phone calls that this was booked through CRO, I even changed from WDTC, and that the balance wasn't due until check-out, but now I see on the confirmation, in tiny print, that it says "total pakcage amount: $1,039 is due by 5/31/02" That is exactly 21 days prior to my trip.

What's up with that nonsense? Why is it always so confusing? Can't they get one system and stick to it?
