No Buy June - Everybody welcome, jump on the bandwagon!

Despite my best intentions, I failed miserable with my no-buy challenge.
I love the idea, and set a goal of 15 no-buy days. Why not? You guys make it look easy. But it's not, at least for me.
I had ZERO no-buy days. Every day, an expense would pop up. Some little, some not so little.
But this experience has led me to the conclusion that I can do this, I just need to tweak it to fit my life. Next month, I will be back!
I find this thread very inspiring. Because of this thread, I am going to set up monthly budgets for groceries and dining out/entertainment and my DH and I each have our own amount for discretionary spending (I say allowance, he says stipend). So for that, I thank you!

Welcome! You might have failed to hit your 15 no buy target, but you DID learn a good bit about how you spend, and you DID get inspired to make changes for next month. That's pretty good for your first month:love:

charming, I think that is a lovely and uplifting way to spend the day on the anniversery of your fathers death. I'm going to remember that for that future. Hope you are doing okay.

Well, I completely blew it for June. The expense of tires at the the beginning of the month was a budget buster, and then the car broke down on Saturday, stranding me (twice) and the repair bill yesterday just really wrecked my budget.:sad: (and I ordered delivery food when I got home; I was completely upset & exhausted, and what I had at home was NOT appealing to me at the time)

I'm not going to record today or tomorrow, and starting in July, my "no-buy" month will also focus on "amount saved" - seems like there is always something popping up, and I eat out on a regular basis (something I need to keep my eye on, it's definitely a budget -drainer.) BUT, if I can feel like I'm re-building my emergency fund, and maybe giving a little extra to my Disney bucket, I will be satisfied.

Hope you all did well with your goals! Heres to a GREAT July!!!!! See you all there!

Thanks. I am doing good, better than I thought but I think it is because we decided to celebrate his life rather than dwell on the fact that he is no longer here. It was nice to talk about all the fun we used to have doing things with him. We ate at one of his favorite restuarants for dinner before going to see his Cleveland Indians play baseball.

Today I bought my tickets to see Eclipse tomorrow morning. I am hoping that all the little tweeners will still be in bed at 10:45 am so I can watch the movie without hearing all the screaming like I heard during New Moon.

Tomorrow is a $0 day, so I came close. I was pretty sure our camping trip would push me over a bit, but it was totally worth it. We spent 4 days camping with one of my best friends from college and her family. I'd never met her kids, and hadn't seen her in 6 years. So, money well spent in my book.

Stayed in all day and was really planning on not spending anything, but oh well.

Really wanted that last no spend day, but the grocery deals that expired today were for things I really needed.

It was a very good month. Came in $414 under budget, which I will carry over for next month with both kids coming to visit. I went over on groceries. but still ended up with a respectable amount for 2 people- $251 on groceries for the month total.
