No Buy June - Everybody welcome, jump on the bandwagon!

:lmao: It's a plaid skirt and a sweater vest that is embroidered with the name of the school. I just think it's ridiculous that it is only required one day a month. The rest of the month, they just wear khaki pants/skirt and a polo shirt. At least I did the thrifty thing and bought the skirt a size too big (adjustable waist and 3 inch hem - she had about 8 inches of elastic from that waist pulled out on each side!), so hopefully she will get 2 years out of it, not just one. It'll be long this year, but there's no rule about that, just that it can't be shorter than her knee.

So do they wear these on a specific day of the month? Sorry, but that sounds crazy. What about the boys? Do they have a once a month special uniform also? You did good getting one that would fit for two years!:thumbsup2

The boys just wear the vest with their regular shirts and pants. First Wednesday of every month and any holidays/special occasions the principal decides. A lot of the parents are griping about it, but the board of the school doesn't care. They think they are doing us enough of a favor letting us get our shirts wherever we want. They used to require only Lands' End shirts and pants! So while I am glad for the break on the shirts/pants, it still seems mighty ridiculous. It is a public school, after all, not like I'm paying $$$ for private education!

I made this as a New Year's Resolution so after this month I will be half way to making it! My goal is to surpass my normal goal of 15 No Spend Days.

June 1-
$4.50 Kids bought lunch (We got in too late from vacation to grocery shop)
$1.08 Redbox
$20.00 Gas
$114.94 Groceries
$5 DD11's end of year class trip
June 2-$0
June 3-$0 Took the kids to 2 Walgreen's for Silly Bandz but that is all we got and they used their own money.
June 4- Was a $0 day till hubby came home with "free" baseball game tickets. I debated, but it was a beautiful night and free glove night for kids and the girls had friends going so we went. There went the $0 day. We spent just under $30on dinner and parking. I am quoting Suze Orman right now, "People first, then money, then things." It was a nice family evening out so worth losing the day.
June 5- Taco Bell-$14.59 Michael’s (Scout stuff, Father’s Day gifts and frames) $45.76, $15.63 Dairy Queen with GS troop, $17 (added DD8 to the sleepover, her troop hates sleepover so I will probably never get here there otherwise so her sister invited her) $4 sleepover patches, $10 ornament (I like to collect these when we go places)
June 6- $7.81 McD’s breakfast on the way home, Sam’s (groceries, gifts, clothes, shampoo, 5 bottles of sunscreen, etc) $191.99 (I’ll say the $91.99 was groceries, roughly,) Snack at Sam’s $3.43 Wegman’s groceries $154.68 (that is what I get for bringing DH) Amazon order (right around) $30, 2 CDs for DH for Father’s Day and some Disney Silly Bandz
June 7-$0 Technically I won $7 in Silly Bandz off eBay, but the kids are paying for them so my OOP was $0
June 8-$0 Spent the day cooking and filling my naked freezer. I froze about 15 dinners so far and more are in the crock pot overnight and will be frozen in the morning. I usually do this every 6-8 weeks but it all seemed to go really fast this time since we have had so many busy nights.
June 9-$0
June 10-$0
June 11- Streak Over. $3 bread and milk, $8 gummy spiders for DD11's Bronze Award presentation tomorrow, $34.98 gas, $5 (really $18 but we had $13 left on a gift card) lunch date with hubby <3 ,Walmart (pillows) $34 ish, have to find the receipt, $4 Silly Bandz (for a b-day gift, my kids have enough!) And finally $19 pizza night for the family.ETA- $72 Bon Jovi Tickets!!!!
June 12- Day out with the family (using all coupons!) $30.18 for lunch at Friendly's, a game of bowing and Slushies on the way home.
June 13- $21 eating out when off visiting friends' new baby
June 14- Clothes shopping for DD15 $69.21 & $111.67 (this also included a new softball bat for DD8) and a CREDIT of <$24.41> (clothes for me.)
Bought DD lunch after finals (I did not eat) $6.47
Groceries $90.57
After all that I was too tired to cook so I did what I rarely do, we got pizza on a weeknight $9.45
June 15- Chaperoned DD11's class trip, $15 (yes, I had to pay my own way.)
Lunch and Ice Cream on the trip $12
Envelopes $1.08
Stamps $7.92
Gave DD money to go to lunch with her friends after exams $4
Took kids out to Family Night at a local restaurant for dinner. We ate, played and had ice cream for a total of $7 with coupons.
June 16-$0

3/8 o$ days so far not too bad for just joining in.

Well, it's been about 2 weeks since I last posted :rolleyes1 but I have been keeping track. It's just such a crazy month - one trip home from California to Louisiana down, one trip to go.

My zero $ days aren't doing so hot, but I guess they could be worse. Today was supposed to be one, but I noticed that the new Disney group "AllStar Weekend" will be playing at the California State Fair in mid-July and I decided to buy 2 reserved seats since they were only $10 each, plus another $9 in service fees of course (which burns my you-know-what, but that's a rant for another day!). My DD10 has been bugging me to go to a "concert" for a year or so now because all of her friends have been going to some, but I refuse to spend $200 for that when she's only 10. I priced out taking her to the Camp Rock 2 tour that will be in our area in September, and it actually would have ended up being $200 for the least expensive reserved seats :scared1: plus parking and all that stuff. So the State Fair seemed like a good compromise. We got 5th row seats. It won't quite be like seeing Eric Clapton live back in the day :rotfl:, but it should at least get my daughter out of her permanent grump mood for an evening!

So here's my month so far:

(Due to my unique form of budgeting, my "month" runs 5/31-6/27)
5/31 $0
6/1 $42 Gas, $9 PetSmart, $13 WalMart, $15 Cell Phone Top-Up
6/2 $11 DollarTree, $6 WalMart
6/3 $14 Lunch, $4 Toll, $2 Water @ Airport
6/4 $5 Airport Breakfast, $35 Dinner
6/5 $25 Lunch
6/6 $0
6/7 $10 Albertsons, $11 Gas, $2 Water @ Airport, $16 Dinner @ Airport, $50 Parking+Driver Tip, $4 Toll
6/8 $7 Lunch, $29 Tuition Assistance App
6/9 $0
6/10 $42 Gas
6/11 $8 Field Trip Fee, $7 Target
6/12 $90 FoodsCo, $7 Oroweat Bakery Store
6/13 $24 Target

Ahhh, standardized dress. Hated it, but grateful I only had to stick to colors and styles, any brand. I am not sure why schools think it "equalizes" all the students, as you could still tell the "haves" from the "have nots".

That was the excuse they made when my kids were in school.

We got her a spaghetti fork and jar opener, kitchen towels, and then added spaghetti, sauce, a bread basket and breadsticks, votive candles, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, italian spices, parmesan cheese and a bottle of sparking cider so they will have a quick romantic meal when they get back from their honeymoon and the cupboards are bare.
