No Availability Swan or Dolphin 01/07 to 01/16

Hi, My DH and I are thinking about going to Disney in Jan instead of when we traditionally go in December. I just checked the SPG website and neither the Swan nor Dolphin have any availability. Does anyone have any idea of what is going on then that there would be no rooms at either of those hotels this early? If we don't stay at the Swan or Dolphin, I always wait until AP rates are released to book. Do you think I will have trouble finding a room during that week if we wait to book?

I imagine there's a convention at the Swan/Dolphin. Some groups will block off a large number of rooms and then they are released when the group's deadline comes. Usually many more rooms are blocked off than what is used. I would suggest calling the Swan/Dolphin directly. You can find the tollfree number on their website.

I know the S/D has had some good AP rates in the past. Some people who have used it might be able to tell you if the rates apply when the hotel is very full. I know some of the other discounts don't during these very busy times.

I recently heard that GF was sold out the same time period. I heard some speculation that will be a more crowded time with folks having off for MLK & inauguration.

The WDW Marathon is 1/9 and activities start on the 7th. I think that explains the first few nights (and I doubt many rooms will open up, but they do historically have AP rates those dates).
