Leaving on Sat. for 6 days(3 @ Music, 3 @ Beach Club) and am on the free dining plan.
We have made NO plans for those meals amd I'm wondering about all these reports about how full the restaurants have been. Maybe I'm making an incorrect assumption but do these places not allow for customers(family's) to "walk up", and perhaps wait a while for a table, as oppossed to just being told go away we are full.
Has anyone been recently and eaten(Table Service, don't want to use all my credits on CS) without planning ahead of time?

Thanks,
Mark

I know that wanting to change a couple of my reservations was impossible at more popular places even a few weeks ago, and I also leave on Saturday.

At the very least you should try calling from your room the morning of to see if you can get a table somewhere. If you aren't terribly pickyabout the place and don't mind waiting for an hour or more you might be ok.

The restaurants do not always allow for walk ups.

we just returned this weekend and ate at LeCellier and CRT/dinner. Both places told every walk-up that you could only get in if you have an ADR.

It seems as if there are a LOT of us Dis'ers going next week. I tried about 6 weeks ago to change an ADR for the Garden Grill, the only time I could get for lunch was 3pm and nothing for dinner.

Hardchargers~ Its not to late to make some back up ADR's in case your shut out of everywhere. If I were you I'd be on the phone NOW. Good Luck sending PD :wizard: :wizard:

Friends just got back last Wednesday (9/15-9/21). They had made no ADR and I kept warning them before they left. Well, they said they had no problem at all the whole time. They were a party of 7. First night they had an early dinner (5:30 pm) at one of the GF restaurants. Not only did they do a walk-in, they were the only people in the whole restaurant! Now didn't have a chance to ask what other places they ate at.

So... think it will be that much different now a week later??? I know I would make ADR for the restaurants that I REALLY want to go to.

I just called to see if I could get WCC during my stay next week instead of Ohana, and they only have 9:00 p.m. for dinner all days of the week. That's way to late for us, thank god I called 90 days ago and got all my adr's. I feel bad for those who didn't make the adr's, reports are they have been turning people away - I would hate to spend all that money at WDW, and not be able to dine at the places I wanted to!

Observations from my trip:

LeCellier- no, you cannot get in without an ADR. They were turning people away in droves. I chatted with one nice young lady who had been hoping for a cancellation all week and had been trying for days to get dinner at LeCellier.

California Grill- before Wishes, possibly. During Wishes, no. They were turning people away.

Grand Floridian Cafe: very nice ambience, good food, not terribly crowded. You could easily have walked in. However, 1900 Park Faire, right next door, was packed to the rafters for the character dinner and was turning people away.

SciFi at MGM. No ADR, no luck. We changed our park schedule and ended up at MGM again, so we decided to try it. We weren't turned away, but told that without an ADR, the wait would be at least an hour. The folks next to us, who *had* an ADR, told us that they were already half an hour past their ADR time, so we decided we probably wouldn't even be seated within an hour and bailed on it.

On Sunday evening, we had no ADR's, since it was not scheduled as a park day. I called for LeCellier and O'hanas and was turned down. We ended up going over to Big River Grille at Boardwalk and they had plenty of tables and very good food and beer. Spoodles also looked like they were taking walk-ins with no problems.

We went the 19th-21 with no ADRs. This is what we did-we used our TS credits at lunch and counter service (or concierge) for dinner. We ate at Le Cellier twice for lunch and just walked in and wait maybe 10 minutes. We also ate at Big River and had no wait. If you go at dinner you may have problems good luck and have fun

Just got back yesterday.

At lunch, Le Cellier took SOME walk-ins, and then started turning people away. Also, the walk-ins they accepted took a long time to seat.

At dinner, BOMA was taking walk-ins, no problem.

I remember when I changed an ADR to 50's Prime Time I had no problem getting lunch time and they had a lot of time slots open.

Another thing to do is call that morning from your room and try to make an ADR. We got into Sci Fi for 6 pm dinner on Friday by calling that same morning, and they weren't taking walk ins when we arrived that night. I don't think that it was just a cancellation, either -- she asked me what time I wanted, as if it was open.

It's worth a free call from your room. I too don't like to plan too many meals ahead, but generally I know the night before where we plan to be the next day.
