Just thought I'd let everyone know what I've just experienced.

DW and I are planning a trip for May 2007. I've been playing around with a couple different scenarios and the best looking one is:

12 nights POFQ, 10 day MYW+PH+waterparks, DDP, no travel insurance req'd.

I've called the folks at Disney....$3792.00 USD
I've checked the WDW website...$3792.00 USD
I called my AAA agent...$3792.00 USD

I was under the impression that AAA saved you around 10% and if not that at least a little bit. Apparently not in this case. Does anyone know what's going on? I know that the new 2007 rates have been released. Also, another scenario that we were playing with was splitting our stay btwn POP and POFQ, the AAA vacation price on this was ~8% lower than Disney's which is within range so I know that there are discounts available. Is it possible the POFQ does not get discounted? Also, when I was talking to the Disney lady on the phone she said that I wouldn't get a better price through AAA because the dining plan was already a great deal and that I'd be saving money there. What a crock of you-know-what!

The long and short of it is that I'm not overly happy right now :guilty: with what I'm seeing but I'll just keep calling and getting quoted until I get the right price. In the meantime if anyone can help me figure out this it'd help a ton!

Thanks!

It's possible that POFQ's AAA rates are sold out for the dates you're wanting. You might see if your AAA agent can check the other moderates for the discount. You should be looking at a quote around $3457 or so with the discount (standard room with the dining plan and tickets you noted).

In my experience with AAA, I've had trouble getting the AAA discount at POFQ. It seems like the other moderates usually have more availability.

Good luck!

My DW and I booked with AAA last week for 8 days at POFQ. The price was about 10% cheaper than going through Disney

I just booked with AAA discount at POR for 6/13-21. When I called disney to check on a room only AAA rate, they told me they were all sold out. Luckily my agent had already reserved my package and we went with her. I don't know if you can be flexible with your dates (we couldn't) or if you might consider another hotel? I know the discounted rooms are available, but going fast.

Hope you find your room! :wave2:

I don't know about packages but if you go to www.aaa.com you can get a price on room only and compare it to room only at Disney.com

I took the liberty of checking for you and discounted aaa rooms at POFQ are available all through May 07! For example, I put in May 25th and AAA price is 148.75 before tax so with tax it's 167. At Disney.com the price (same night) at POFQ is showing up as 197!!! That's 30 dollars discount per night.

I reckon your AAA agent made a mistake so either book it room only (online or through Disney CRO) or call a different agent. :thumbsup2

Thanks Deb. I went to the AAA site and searched for POR for my dates and availability came up. CRO was wrong or I misunderstood her. So glad I can get help from the DIS board members. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to add that the discount is off just the room portion of your package. According to Mousesavers.com AAA rates may not be available in summer season (beginning may 24), and Regular season AAA discount is 15% off the room.

Dont forget if you split your stay and want to have dining plan with both parts of your stay you need to have tickets purchassed for each hotel.

I would try expedia too- it appears that they offer the same price as aaa, we booked with aaa last trip to pofq and the rates were the same...

Does expedia allow you to add ddp? I thought earlier posts said not. No experience myself though.

It could be that there is a 10 day maximum on AAA price so when 12 days are entered it comes up unavailable. The same thing used to happen with AP rates. It seems disney puts a maximum on many special rates. As many of my trips are 10-14 days i have run into this often and had to make two seperate ressies back to back. Have your AAA agent divide the ressie and see if that makes a difference.

Another explanation could be that if only one night of the 12 is not available at the discounted rate...the entire ressie will show unavailable at the discounted rate.

Has anyone tried to book with AAA rates during the summer season? The possibility that AAA rates may not be offered is a huge deal to me and we're planning on an early June trip. Not ready to book ressie's quite yet though.

Never mind! I just checked out mousesavers and they limit the possibility of no AAA discounts to mod's and value's only. We're interested in WL or AKL, so I guess we're still fine.

From what I understand, Discounts are not always available, especially during the busy season. So just becacause aperson books through AAA, that does not guarantee an automatic discount, same goes for AP discounts, etc.

I started to and guess I should have went back and edited that to be that I was talking specific for POP/POFQ since that is what OP was asking about. Didnt want to list all the possibilites. Some posts seem to be saying they got it even for those though.

I booked room only for May 2 to May 9/07 and was told the CAA/AAA codes were not out yet. Disney reservation suggest I keeping calling back.
Is it possible they are already sold out?

I just reserved a room at POFQ for October '07 with the AAA discount. I'm working with Small World Vacations (SWV). My dates are Oct. 20th thru 27th. According to TA, I'm saving $219. I hope an AP discount comes out for that time period!

I just booked a trip for June 2 for 9 nights at the Yacht club with AAA. The agent said Disney rep was suprised that the discount was even still available for it. She said alot of AAA rates for June have been sold. I was not planning on ever doing it this early, but for a savings of $400 I jumped on it. I really wanted the dining plan since we do go for a sit down dinner every night and in the past had the AP with the dining discount. We were not getting it this year since last year we could not get a discounted rate at all. So I have 2 weeks to put down the deposit. My mom thinks I am crazy doing this in advance but I figure to save the money why not.
