nmmmmmmmm

Is the finance co local? If so call them and tell them you will come in and give them the final payment so they can release the pink slip right there. If it is not local I dont know how long before they release the pink slip. We did this when we had to purchase another van for the bus. We all walked in the finance co, the gentleman paid the van loan and they gave him the pink slip, and he signed everything over to us. Call them and ask them what is best to do. Hope this helps you. It's Capital One Auto Finance, but I'm pretty certain they don't let you pay at the Capital One branch. Thanks for your help.

I'm selling a car. A couple came today and want to buy it. They will give me the funds tomorrow after I speak to the bank about how exactly I get the lien release. Has anyone had experience with them? The purchaser will give me the cash, I will pay online and then what? Sign the existing title w/ the lienholder listed and give it to the buyer...or do I wait for the lien release (I've read it can take 30 days?!) and go get a NEW title and have them removed, THEN give it to the buyer? So confused!

Years ago DH went thru a phase of selling and buying cars, anytime we had a car that had a loan attached we would have the buyers send the balance directly to the loan company and pay us whatever was left. This way they took the car knowing the loan had been paid and they were ok about waiting for the title....

Do as the PP said.

There is no way I would give anybody cash for a car that did not have a clear title on it.

When we had a car loan and then paid it off we had to apply for a clear title from the state.
