Day 5, Part 1 YACHT CLUB, EPCOT AND YACHTMANS STEAK HOUSE
Crew: DH, DD1, DD2 and me (DW)
This morning marked the official half-way through our vacation. We had booked the AKL for DH and DD2 since they are big animal lovers. The second half of the vacation was for DD1 and me. We are less into animals and more into convenience.
We decided to sleep in a little this morning and didnt get up until 9:00 a.m. We had a quick breakfast in the room, packed up the rest of our items and called bell services. They asked how many pieces of luggage so I told them sure enough the bell man shows up with less tags than luggage and had to get more. No problem theyre moving the luggage not me.
After they took the luggage we took one last look out on our balcony and the savannah. We then went up to the fifth floor and walked across the walkway at the far end of the lobby and took some pictures of the AKL. After spending a little more time checking out everything we wanted to at the AKL, we decided to go directly to the YC before going to EPCOT and check in.
We grabbed a taxi and asked them to take us over to the YC (there is no way all our luggage and the four of us could have fit in the taxi) plus the AKL told us it would be delivered between 1 and 3:00 p.m. We arrived at the YC by about 10:30 a.m. As we exited the taxi, the bellman/greeter asked about our visit and we told him we were checking in and our luggage would be transferred later. He told us to go into the lobby and turn right the check-in desk was right there. There was no one in line and as my family never can quite do anything alone, the four of us approach the check-in desk and we didnt even scare the CM!
Eric was an awesome CM! He printed out our tickets for the following evenings Luau and told us about some of the available rooms to meet our waterview reservation. Since I was not every well versed in the locations of the best rooms, I asked him to make the choice. Eric told us that if after we got to the room we didnt like it, to let him know and he would move us. We were super impressed. Eric gave us the map and showed us where the room was located and where the elevators were.
We were assigned room 3087 and followed Erics directions sure enough we had a perfect view! Our balcony looked down on the gazebo, the light house (where you take the ferry to EPCOT, MGM and the Boardwalk), a view of the Boardwalk and Epcot. The room consisted of two queen beds, a chair and ottoman, a 4 drawer chest next to the closet, a large dresser with more drawers (t.v. was on top), and desk. DD1 and I fell in love with the YC immediately.
Since our luggage wouldnt be over for awhile, we decided to walk over to EPCOT and go through the countries (we had done the front part of EPCOT on Sunday). We started the walk, and by the time DH made it to the bridge, he was done. The girls went ahead and rented a wheel chair and once he was in that, we were back in business. On to EPCOT!
