Hi, I'm looking for suggestions on how much to give as a wedding present in Northern NJ these days. It will be DH and myself and the wedding is at The Brownstone.

I know some people give wrapped wedding gifts, but in our area most people give money. That is what we are going to be doing.

Thanks for your imput!!!!!:)

I would say 250-300 depending on how well you know the couple. Family would get 300 if you are close, 250 if not so close.

Yes I was thinking $300 if they are close for a relative I would give $500. Not so close $250

I would say it depends on what you can afford to give and how close you are to the people.

Me personally, if I was going to a wedding at the Brownstone, probably $300.
Say hello to the Real Housewives while you're there.

I am going to say $300. I have been to several events, including weddings there and it is in no way shape or form an inexpensive venue. Enjoy the wedding...the food is phenomanal there! I am going to be heading past there in a bit on the way to my Grandma's ( I refuse to go on the highway to Bergen county since the Barclays is clogging up the roads around the Paramus area).

I agree $300 if not family.

One of the best weddings I went to was at the Brownstone, the food was so good!

This is a bit off topic, but don't give actual cash, write a check, since you don't know what sticky fingers may be dipping into the envelopes. Also when writing the check realize the bride and groom probably will not have an account as a couple in their married name so write the check out to or the other in the maiden name.

The other benefit to writing a check is you will know that the couple received it since they will have to sign it to cash it.

I wouldn't give more. That is $125/per person. I doubt they paid more than that at the Brownstone.

It shouldn't make any difference where the wedding is being held...you give what you can afford.

Any couple that chooses an expensive place made it THEIR choice, and it doesn't dictate or suggest how much your gift should be.

Um, are you from northern NJ? I thought that was a requirement for posting on this thread. :confused3 :rotfl:
