As some of you know, I bought my wedding gown and now need to find someone to alter it (it just needs to be hemmed a little). Everyone tells me to be really careful and make sure that whoever does it has experience working with wedding gowns, but I don't know anyone who is good.

Can any of you Jersey brides recommend a bridal shop/seamstress/tailor? I'm in central Jersey (about 20 minutes outside of NYC), but I'm willing to drive if you know someone really good!

I haven't had my first fitting yet (probably next week!), but so far my bridal salon has been wonderful about everything. Very friendly. Rushed the order for my headpiece and veil so I'd have them in time for my hair trial run, without any extra charges. And it looks like my dress will be delivered right on time. Plus, they were really nice about seeing me the first time I stopped in, even though I didn't have an appointment. After a 30-second description of what I was looking for, the shop-owner pulled the exact dress I wanted off the rack. She definitly seems to know what she's doing. But... if you're that close to NYC, it might be a bit of a drive. The shop's called Elegant Alternative, in Spring Lake (just south of Belmar).
