I just paid a big premium for buying on on ebay. Oh well, at least I have it now.

It makes me glad that I pre-ordered mine back in November. Who knew that Nintendo would have manufacturing problems that would create a shortage?

Just a side note: the salesgirl at EBGames strongly suggested that I purchase the extended warranty on it due to the sensitivity of the touchscreen. Apparently, it scratches easily and then you cannot point the stylus properly. I told her that I would just use a screen protector like you use on a Palm Pilot but she told me that they don't work on the Nintendo DS.

That's interesting, considering they sell screen protector kits made especially for the DS. That's what I plan on using for my kids.

We bought the kit with the screen protector but we also bought the warranty from eb games. We did that with the sp and my son's had to be replaced during that time. It just stopped working properly. It was nice just going in and getting a new one right away.

My boys want this but since they all have the SP we are going to wait till next christmas. More games will be out and I will make sure I put them on layaway way before xmas.. The trip to Orlando is thier big xmas present this year

They had about 20 of them at the Cherry Hill NJ Target Store *(Camden Couty) tonight. The Mt. Laurel Centerton Square one had a few as well.

Thanks for the tip on the importance of keeping the touch screen safe. I ordered the accessory kit from Amazon with the screen protector, car adaptor and earphones for $14.99.

We live in a small town with the only store being Wal-Mart. We can drive an hour to find 1 Target, but past there, I don't know when we'd it another Target. I tried every place online, and thought I'd found it from JC Penny's, of all places. But after waiting a couple of weeks, I got an email that said it wouldn't be shipped until after Christmas. So, ebay it was, as much as it pained me. I received it the next business day though, so I'll forget about the additional cost before I'd forget my son's disappointment it wasn't under the tree Christmas morning.

hope everyone knows playstation hand held was just released in Japan coming to USA 2005
this one is supposed to rock and all the kids okay most of the playstation fanatics are going to want this one
so we are skipping nintendo DS to get PSP (playstation portable)
if you want to see it they are on ebay selling from Japan for $700+
They are supposed to be around $199 when they sell here possibly as early as march/april

Thanks for the info Luv2nascar!My son is getting a SP for Xmas but I saw some DS's at Walmart yesterday and really wrestled with the idea of getting one for him instead of the SP but I think I will wait for the Playstation one now - his Bday is in April. That will work out perfect.

I'm now officially angry with JC Penny again. I never shop there but my son said "they have DS, they have DS" so I ordered it in November from JC Penny to be shopped within 2 weeks. So nearing the 2 week mark I email them for reassurance. They say definately will be shipped on the 10th. Yep, 10th comes with another email that now they won't ship until 12/27, so I cancel the order. Today I get another message that it is too late to cancel! Huh?? I called and asked how could it be too late with the thing not shipping for another 2 weeks. That he couldn't answer, but now I'll have to get the thing back for a refund and we live no where near a Pennys.

Another warning or heads up on the DS if after you charge your DS you see a small light on the screen(mine was green others have reported other colors)take it back and exchange it! It is a bad LCD. If the store you purchased from doesn't have any in stock make sure you get a manager to ok that you return it later when they do for an even exchange.

Yes, you can refuse a shipment. If you don't have the merchandise, what are they going to charge your for? The shipping, maybe. But since you called to cancel, they should have let you cancel. Also, did you pay by credit card?? You can refute the charges with your company. If they weren't shipping in 2 weeks, and you cancelled before they shipped, there is no reason why you can't cancel.

They charged my Disney credit card for the merchandise about a week AFTER I tried to cancel the order. Penny's is crazy!

Our Walmart had the DS in stock Friday night. They kept annoucing over and over again on the overhead speakers how many were left. Within a few minutes they went from having 30 to only 1.
I myself have been on the hunt for a PS2. Can't find it-- I even tried used at EB Games. We already have one, but was looking for a 2nd one for DH (he doesn't always like "playing" in DS's room). Anyhow, the guys at EB told me that Sony isn't producing them any longer because of the new system coming out this spring/summer. I don't know if this is true or not...anyhow he said nobody's been turning in the new one's anymore either. He said they made "X" amount of the new slimer version, then that was it. No more are being made. Don't know where he got his info from or how accurate. I however, can't find the system anywhere.
