They put the lotto information up on their website. The site itself isn't finished, but they have some info. It's going to be 10/16 this year.

If you are registering as/with a group, you can get they group id starting this coming Monday.

If you're registering on your own, the lotto is open from 4/11 to 4/22.

$130 for the 1/2 and $150 for the full. If you want a shuttle back to the starting area, last year it was $10, so I would think it would be the same this year.

Just an FYI too, the necklace is the same for the full and the 1/2.

Here's the link to their site if anyone's interested.

Ooh decisions decisions...

Go ahead and sign up for the Wine and Dine at the lowest price or enter this lottery, wait and see, and hope that the Wine and Dine hasn't sold out at the middle pricing rate. I hate decisions like this!!

This is definitely on my list but I think I will wait until the 10 year Anniversary in a couple years. I really wish I lived on the west coast!! I can't travel cross country for a race twice this year. :(

Yeah...the expense of the travel is my main thing. I've got free lodging for the Wine and Dine...and can probably use the free ticket on Southwest (ew, but free is free) my parents have offered me for transportation to it...so ultimately it's hard to pass that one up.

I've been fortunate to have participated in two NWMs. However, ever since they implemented the lottery, I have not been able to get in. Well, by lottery, that is. Two years ago, they opened the race back up a few weeks before the event, first come - first served, and that's how I was able to do my second NWM. I suspect, with the lottery, they select a certain number from the surrounding region (including states) first and then the others. I could be wrong.

It is a good one to do. I don't know if I'll try for it this year or not. There are so many other races I'd like to do and not enough money to do them all.

Good luck to those trying to get in this year. RupertBP - I suspect the 10th anniversary will be a lot harder to get in. You know how people like those anniversary medals! ;)

Yeah, 2013 will be a bit difficult I am sure and I may have to deviate from my only qualifying to get into a race mantra and just running with a charity instead. Not that it is a bad thing, but it is important for me to earn my entry if I can. It seems like lotteries seem to favor those traveling distances for some reason...maybe for the economic impact?

Unless they follow the NYRR pattern and have certain percentages used to bring in people who will actually bring money into the economy (with hotel, food, touring etc.) - in that case people from out of state/country may well have a better chance in the lottery.

NYRR has now disclosed the system they use for the NYC Marathon and the NYC Half - and it does clearly favor those coming in from out of town.

I'm actually thinking about entering the lottery for the Nike Women's Marathon or Half. Yes, it's the weekend of another race I was thinking about and the same weekend as my hometown race (Baltimore) but I hear that necklace calling...

I have a few weeks to think about it though!

I didn't hear any talk like they did for the NY Marathon. It's capped at 20,000. I can tell you that I heard last year that I heard it was about 15-16,000 1/2ers and 4-5,00 marathoners. Not to mention that this is the big TNT race. That's all I saw last year running. I do know that it's easier to get into the full than the 1/2, b/c not as many enter for the full and they figure it's the same necklace why run the full.

Haven't decided if I'm going to enter again this year. I'm still bitter/angry I didn't get my necklace last year. Plus I'm waiting for the NY lotto. I'm hoping that I'll hear before the cutoff for NWM, but I doubt it.

I would love to do the event. It is not in my budget, but that bling is sure a draw. WISHing anyone here who is trying to get in all the PD you need to have it come true.

I've wanted to run this race for a few years... DH and I discussed it today and I'm going to enter the lottery for the half. We're a short flight from Seattle to SF and I would try to plan to fly out Friday night or Saturday morning, and return Sunday night after the race.

In exchange, DH gets a weekend backpacking trip in the mountains with his favorite of our two German Shepherds. I think I win. :lmao: That's how we roll.... just like how I got a Dooney & Bourke WDW 40th anniversary bag this weekend, in exchange for me cleaning up after his two slobby (but very lovable... my standards of clean are just VERY different from theirs) sisters as house guests this past week. :lmao: :rotfl2:

Keeping my fingers crossed for the lottery!

Good to know...more reason to wait a couple of years (2012 November will be the NYC Marathon thanks to the 9+1 option). I'll be ready to do the full! :)

Kim - are you saying that you never got a necklace for 2010's run? I mean, a 2010 necklace and not one for an older race? That's not right! That is so not right! I'm assuming you've contacted Nike and they are just not going to do anything about it?

Reminds me of Disney running out of half medals....two years in a row. Of course, the participants got them at a later date but it's not the same as getting it when you cross the finish line, especially for first-timers.

Sarah, I think you're on to something! Give and take - what's hard about that? :thumbsup2 (I think you're winning, too! :teeth:)

Yeah, no necklace!! :sad2: I was my first full too!! They ran out of them and started giving out past years and ran out of those as well. I emailed them and they said I was put on the list when they made more but never got one. When I emailed them again after they said when they send them out, no one would get back to me. I was so bummed.

Do we have enough interest to form a group for the lottery? If so, I will enter a Wish/ROTE team for the lottery.

That is horrible. :( I wonder how they ran out of them... I would imagine that they were controlled a bit more than the medals at Disney but I wonder if they have the missing ones too? I can't believe that they would not follow-up with you and make sure you got one. After all, you earned it!

I'm not entering this year - I'm mentally set for Disney to be my first full. I'm more of an independent runner anyway (ask my running club about the whining I've done about not getting to pick what I wear in races...lol) and not so into the team thing. Thanks for the offer though.

That's terrible! Do you mind me asking what time you came in around for the full? I was tossing around the idea of running the full myself, but I would be so heartbroken if the same thing happened to me....and I am definitely a middle-to-back-of-the-packer, especially in a full.

It was advertised that the necklace was a part of your entry fee, correct? I'm not a lawyer, but there must be some sort of legal implication if they collected your $100 (or whatever) and not given you your necklace. I bet if you have a friend who is a lawyer, you could have them write a strongly-worded necklace...that would be enough to scare them I bet to at least give you a response.

If you registered as a group, if one person in the group is picked to registered then everyone in the group is able to register also.

We don't have to run together, maybe meet up before the race to get a picture...but that's about it.

It gives us better odds of getting in as a group than as an individual.
