Night time Flight arrival and questions...

So I'm looking at flights that have us arriving at MCO around 8/9pm. I figured we would just spend the night at hotel airport or something and then take DME the next day. I figured a night in the hotel would be better with a toddler than having her fly a red-eye flight and try to hit the parks upon arrival.

So questions:

1) The Hyatt -- I know the Hyatt is supposed to be the closest and I had heard that they would take care of your luggage and getting it to DME for you for a small fee. Is this true? Have people had any experience with that?

I am >< pulling the trigger and booking the Hyatt but the $200 a night cost is making me go meh. BUT if they handled our luggage for us, I'd be more comfortable with the decision.

2) Other hotels -- What other ones near the airport are good for an overnight stay? And how do the shuttles work? You just take a shuttle that night to the hotel and then back the next day and then shuttle your luggage down to the DME level?

I don't know about the Hyatt other than it is in the same building as the terminal...it is right above the terminal.

Other hotels work exactly as you described.

I'm just wondering if you've looked at Alaska Airlines. The last time I checked, they had the only non-stop between SEA and MCO. I think it arrives at MCO late afternoon. When our son, who lives in Tacoma, joined us at WDW last summer, that's what he took.
A non-stop with a toddler seems much easier than making a connection somewhere.

We were going to fly American so that I can use miles to upgrade us to first class. Alaska did at one point have a non-stop red eye flight but that appears to be gone.

I'll check out their flights to MCO, though, and see if they have a non-stop during the day. I can use AA miles to upgrade an Alaska coach seat.

Marriott has a bunch of hotels just north of the airport. We stayed at Residence Inn for about $89. We simply collected our luggage and called for the shuttle. They told us what space number outside to stand at and were there promptly.

The next morning the shuttle dropped us right at the DME area where we took our luggage with us under the bus..... it worked fine. There is a Dennys right across the parking lot from the Residence Inn. SpringHill Suites is right next door as well.

With the Hyatt, you have to get your luggage from baggage claim and take it with you. They then will take it the next morning to DME.

Where are you staying at WDW? Depending on the rate, it might make as much sense to just take DME upon arrival and get settled in to your vacation "home" so that you're fresh and ready to go the next morning.

That is what I would check first before staying at or near the airport.

We come from the left coast also and usually arrive late afternoon/evening also.

I hate to burn DVC points just to sleep so we book at the Pop for one night (cheaper than $200/night), get up the next morning and take a cab to our DVC resort. We check in, get our tickets/room keys, have them store our luggage, head to breakfast and then to the parks.

WDW (bell services) will even transfer your luggage from resort to resort if you don't want to move it yourself.

I've considered staying at one of the values the first night and then busing to the Poly the next day. But I've heard that if your flight arrives after a certain time, you may not get your luggage until the next morning? If that is true, anyone know what the cut off hour appears to be.

I may also look at the Marriot as the under $100 rate sounds dandy. We'll need 2 rooms.

DME does not transfer luggage for flights arriving after 10pm.

Thanks everyone for the help. We decided to stay at the airport that night and no a value resort mainly so that we can take DME during the day. I want DD to see the entrance to the resort in daylight and not nighttime
