They used a gestational surrogate. The baby is biologically Keith Urban's and Nicole Kidman's.

I believe, before IVF became more common, the surrogate mother was usually the biological mother as well. Google "Mary Beth Whitehead" to see why this was a bad idea.

Like TLBWriter said, in the "old" days of surrogacy, the "carrier" also used to be the biological mother (and in some cases, still is).

But in this case, the woman had no biological ties to the baby. She was the oven, so to speak.

Age is more likely to impact her ovaries than her uterus, so if her age was the problem, they probably used an egg donor. I don't know how old she is, or what other issues may have led them to use a surrogate.

This might sound crazy, but I didn't believe she carried Sunday Rose either. She never looked pregnant to me. Only got a little belly with not an ounce of swelling anywhere else. It just seemed way off. A little Bree Van De Kamp if you know what I mean!

The beauty of being tall. But yes, I remember every picture she looked like she was 4-6 months…even when she was about ready to drop.

My best friend's mom was one of her ob nurses in the hospital when she delivered Sunday. Trust me, she was pregnant and DID give birth!

I am very happy for them! To tell you how confidential all their employees are, my cousin's husband is their estate manager and his own wife did not know! Although he never says a word about them or his job...the most I have ever gotten out of him is "they are nice."
