We're in the starting stage of planning a trip to HRH, FL Keys, and Nick Hotel. We have small 2lb dog and really wanted to take her with us and not board her. The Nick Hotel is the only one that list "service dogs" only. Does anyone know if they make acceptions for little bitty dogs?

Thanks

As a general rule, it's either all or nothing. In other words "Itty bitty dogs" aren't allowed unless they are service dogs. Hotels tend not to make exceptions because when folks she YOU with "itty bitty" they want to know why they can't bring THIER dog.

Sorry, was only asking a question for past guests. Did not mean to insult or upset anyone.

I don't think you offended anyone. There's a "sticky" in this forum that lists pet friendly rental places, why don't you check there?

Places that take pets can be very hard to find, most hotels and most private homeowners don't.

If you're planning far in advance that will be a definite help, at least as far as vacation homes go...you should be looking at least 6 months in advance, further if it's for a busy / holiday period.

Good luck!

Was something erased? because I only read an answer to your question.

I have to ask what breed of dog weighs only 2 lbs?

I think the Universal hotels (or at least one of them) is pet friendly. I think AAA puts out a publication about traveling with your pet as well.

I researched this extensively before our trip last October. We booked Portofino Bay at US/IOA for that reason. I had a lot of positive responses about the La Quintas and some of the other budget chains, but most of your nicer chains were downright snotty, even when they were lsited on sites as being pet friendly. The Residence Inns by Marriott sounded the nicest but they had a ridiculous fee. We had originally booked the Comfort Inn at US for our arrival night but got cold feet and just booked an extra night at the Portofino. You'll have a really pet friendly experience at HRH if it's anything like the PBH. Your pet gets his own goodie bag with treats, bowls, place mat, food can cover. Good luck. BTW, they definitely don't discriminate against any dogs, while we were there I took DDs to the pool and a lifeguard came to one of the tables and sat a bowl the size of a dishpan down on the ground. Coming behind her was a man with the largest GREAT DANE I have ever seen!

chihuahua mix.

Must be a cutie. We have mini doxies & have talked about trying the USO resorts w/them if we ever drive down again (I don't want to fly with them & they stay with my parents when we go away).

Hope things work out.
