Nick Hotel News!

We will be there Feb 6th - 10. I am really getting excited about this trip. Its nice to know that we willl have everything we need to have meals in the hotel. I think my kids may never want to leave.

Just want to clarify.....I believe the stove top and dishes etc is only with the 3 bedroom suites. If I recall correctly, the two bedroom kids suite had a microwave, coffee pot and small (think large dorm type) fridge. Can't remember about the dishwasher, but don't think it is in the 2 bed. Although the 3 bed is more $, sounds like more amenities in addition to the extra bedroom and bathroom. If my memory is not correct, please feel free to correct me.

Does anyone know if we need to bring our own dishes and silverware for this one? I dont think we need the stovetop or dishwasher. I think we will mainly just be having cereal in the room for breakfast.

Thanks
Beth

hI,
WE HAD THE TWOBEDROOM SUITE TWIN.... You will need your own stuff. We had a half frig. and microwave and a coffee maker. We had sink with some glasses. We went down to A&W and Pizza hut and got some forks and spoons.....We really ate out most of the time.
hope this helps,
Carla

Thats what I needed to know.

In your experience is this a place where we can spend a few days just hanging out at the hotel? DS turns 5 on this trip and DD is almost 3. We were planning on spending 2 days playing at the resort and 3 days doing Disney. Plus we arent expecting them to want to put in full days at the parks so how is the hotel for evening events for preschoolers? My kids love the water so I think the pools will be a huge hit during the day.

We spent one night in a 2 bdrm kidsuite on Jan 11th before our Disney cruise. We payed $171.00 for our room. We were able to check in at 1pm, no line, very fast and efficient. We had just come from Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, a 2 brdm villa, that cost us about $50 more a night (we rented points from a DVC member). The Disney villa was over 1000sq feet with full kitchen, jetted tub, washer/dryer in the room. Our 2bdrm at nick hotel just had a dorm fridge and microwave. Between the two there was no comparison in our minds, Disney won by a landslide, esp considering the cost and the space. The weather was a bit chilly when we were swimming but it was about 4:30pm when we first got in the pool. We just hopped to and from the hot tubs a bit to keep warm. The pool water was as warm as they could prob get it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We missed any pool side activities and didn't attend the shows, ds wanted to eat pizza and play in the arcade instead. We did the character breakfast in the morning, there were only three other families eating when we were there. I'd say for the cost, we thought it wasn't worth it, there wasn't much of a food selection, it was the same thing they served across the hall at the regular buffet, you're just paying for the characters obviously. We saw Spongebob, Patrick, Dora, Cosmo, and Wanda at our breakfast. DS, age 5, did enjoy it though. As they say, "Hope you have the slime of your life."

We will be there from Feb 8-11th! I have a 3yo dd and a 7 month old son!

I am booked at the Nick Hotel, but have started debating whether I should look into a Disney Resort...

hi,
I wouldn't cancel. we really loved the Hotel. As I have said before we had children aging from 10 months up to 13. the three year old loved it the most. They loved all the games in the pool and sliming and watching people getting pies in their faces. The night shows with spongebob and the rest of the gang made it even better for them.
the pool was awesome with all the slides and the 0 entry.
We went the first week of Dec. and it wasn't very crowded so maybe we just got lucky. but we truly loved the Hotel. I'm in the mist of planning our next big trip for over 22 of us. The main request from adults and kids is that we spend at least four days at the NIck. So I'm looking into a 4 or 5 day cruise and finish up with a few days at the Nick. Hotel. Also don't forget the face painting and baloon man in the main part of the Hotel.
Well I didn't mean to write a book but as you can tell we love it..

Is there any transportation options to get to WDW from the hotel or do I need a car?

Yes there was transportation to all the parks.
but check the times to make sure they work for you.
sometimes we took a cab back to the Hotel . It would cost four of us about twenty dollars total....
A big Nick fan,
Carla

Our family (myself, dh and dd9 and dd13) just spent 2 nights at the Nick Hotel Jan. 22-24 after our Disney cruise (which was completely awesome by the way)!

We had stayed here for a week a few years ago before it became Nickelodeon. It is pretty much the same with some slight improvements.

We love the lay-out of the 2 bedroom kid's suites. I love having 3 tv's and privacy for Mom & Dad. I especially love the mini kitchen, big bathroom, storage space and pull-out couch too. Although, this time around, we felt the kid's room and small bunk beds were not ideal for our 13 year old. She was not happy with the small uncomfortable bed and made it known she would not like to stay in one of those rooms again.

We found the pools to be very warm and inviting. We loved the family activities, although I did think some things were a bit too "young" for my 13 year old, although she made the best of it all. My dd9 loved this place and it was one of the highlights of her trip.

We often saw employees cleaning, painting, fixing things, etc. We thought the hotel is maintained well and it seemed cleaner and "brighter" this time around. There is newer, funkier furniture in the living rooms too.

We also thought the staff there was above average. We were checked in with zero wait time by Jacqueline who went above & beyond in her friendliness and was so accommodating and helpful. She explained everything to us very well and told us our perks of being Holiday Inn Priority Club members (my favorite was the late check out at 2pm).

We checked out with Kathy, who again, was fabulous. She even went online for us and helped us pick our airline seats and printed our boarding passes for us.

In addition, one morning, dh and the kids were wandering around and a manager stopped them and asked if they could talk with her for a few minutes on their thoughts of the hotel. She was especially interested in dd13's impressions and how they can improve things to attract older kids. They talked with her for about 30 minutes and she genuinely was interested in our impressions, suggestions, etc. My dh was very impressed by this!

Our kids also loved how the Nick characters wander around in the mall area. We got several pictures with them without having to pay for the character breakfast.

The mall area and nighttime shows are really nice. We hung out at the hotel one afternoon for several hours and were not bored and spent another morning hanging out at the pool. My kids were mad when we had to leave for the airport when they started playing games at the pool. They both would have liked to stay for that as it looked really fun.

We received their pay in advance suite deal special of $125/night, which was really a good deal for all this hotel had to offer.

Thanks for the update, glad you and your family had a fun time there.
Happy to hear that the hotel was clean and bright.
We do love the late check out with Priority Club membership, it's a nice perk.
Where did you eat your meals?
The food at the Nick left much to be desired the times when we were there.
Have hopes that it has improved. What do you think?

We are also priority club members...what do they offer other than late check out? I had not been able to find anything...Thanks!

My DH is a Platinum Level member, so you earn points faster at that level and if available get complimentary room upgrades upon check-in. Some times he/we are upgraded, other times the hotel is busy, so it is unavailable. There are no black out dates for redeeming points and you can manage your acct, including redemptions all on line. This is not the case at some other chains. Also you can reserve far in advance - no need to wait until 60 days out to see what is available. Those are some of the reason why I like Priority Club, mostly the free rooms and being able to research and book it online.

We had heard the food was bad at Nick from these boards, so we didn't eat there at all. We did buy cereal one morning from the convenience type store though and had gotten milk at the 7-11 down the street for our fridge. Other than that, we ate at the Rainforest Cafe in DTD, the parks and Pizzeria Uno (just down the street aways).

The late check out for us was by far the best "perk" because our flight didn't leave until 4:15pm, so we got to enjoy the pools that morning. Another I remember is a certificate they gave us for a free popcorn (the microwave type) and two 20 oz. sodas from their convenience store. Not much, but it was nice. PLUS of course you get the points (1 point for each $1 spent) which when accumlated to 15,000 equals a free one night stay at certain Holiday Inns. It is free to join and easy to manage as the other person said.

Hi,
this time around my grandson was 13 and we stayed in the queensuite this room had two twin beds instead of the bunkbeds. Work great for him he fit fine. Just a thought for next time!!!!!!!

momof 2disprincesses, that's probably what we will also do.
Since we will be at the parks, we can eat there, on the way back to the hotel or DTD. I'm not sure we will chance eating there either  , since there are so many other options nearby. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for all the great info! I had no idea this hotel offered so much to do. 5yo DD wants to stay here a few days and now that I read your post we might just do the weekend here after our stay at BCV.
