Nick hotel disillusionment

As a treat for our son, my wife booked a several nights stay at the Nick hotel, she asked if we needed to pre register for any of the extra events that take place, she was told that it was not necessary that we could sign up our sign at check-in. Forward to checking in, looking forward to our several day stay, we are given the sheet with all activities. Our stay took place during Easter weekend. We ask about signing up for the special activities, specifically one that we knew our son would enjoy, which without asking my wife escapes me, anyway we are informed that if we wanted that specific event we should have signed up when we made our reservations. We were furious, we went to our room with this on our mind, we went back up to the check in desk to voice our displeasure, spoke to a manager nothing came of this other than sorry for the inconvenience. With that my wife stated that we will never stay at this place again and will tell anybody thinking about staying not to waste their money.
We did the research, made sure to ask when making reservations if we needed to sign up our son for any of the events that take place as I said before we were told that we could sign up during check-in only to be told differently. Now for the Easter baskets which were advertised as a each child would receive one-yeah for a pretty good price! We went to Wally world and put together our own basket for a fraction of what Nick was charging.
Since this was for our son we tried to mask how much we despised this place and focused on this being all about him. We have never stayed on-site at any of the Disney resorts, doing so for the first time in March, I believe that since Disney has been doing this for a number of years that we wont be running into anything as ludicrous as our experience at the Nick hotel!!:sad2:

Sorry this happened to you. In the future, if you know you are supposed to sign up/reserve ANYTHING in advance, do it. and get a confirmation number if you can. Even if the person on the other end of the phone tells you otherwise, hang up and call back. This goes for Disney too. I don't know if the people answering the phones don't want to do the work, or if they just don't know any better..... but it happens all the time. Year before last I had booked a concierge suite at the Contemporary Hotel at WDW and called to tell them my requests (dinner, show tickets, etc.). This was about 2 weeks before the dinning ressies opened up. Well, she told me they didn't do things like that and gave me the number for me to call. Ugh, I don't think so. Needless to say, I canceled my ressies. So it happens all of the time. But it still stinks when it happens to you. :(

Yikes - what a horrible experience. Glad you were still able to enjoy Disney and put together a great basket for your son. And that you could overlook the incorrect info you received to still make a special vacation for your son!

You should post this over on the Other Orlando Resorts board. There are plenty of negative Nick Hotel reviews over there. You should add one more :goodvibes

Just thought I would mention this for others that might read this review since you posted this on the Universal boards; Universal has no connection what-so-ever with the Nick hotel. It is a Holiday Inn, not a Loews hotel, which are the three on-site Universal hotels.

In fact, Universal and Nick's agreements have been minimized over the years. What used to be Nick Studios is now the Blue Man Group over at Universal. There are still Nick characters at Universal and a Nick themed ride, but other than that, there are minimal ties between Universal and Nick.

Come stay at the Dark Side (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, or Portofino) next time! Although mistakes can happen, for the most part you won't be disappointed :teeth:

I did not know that, guess that I assumed that since Universal has Spongebob stuff that they were tied in together, thanks for letting me know know this. I never said anything about going to Disney, but you were correct:thumbsup2.

I think a lot of people mistakenly link Universal and the Nick hotel together. It is really a shame since the Loews Hotels are in a totally different class.

I am very sorry that happened to you, and to be honest, it surprised me when I read it. I stayed at the Nick hotel this past weekend and all the staff was so friendly and helpful!
We asked for extra shampoo in our room and they brought a lot more than we asked for, very quickly and then called to make sure we received it! We were impressed. That must have been that one person you talked to originally, I had a great experience there!
