Nicest non-disney hotel very close?

We've stayed at embassy suites south many times. It's your regular nice embassy suites with bus service to Disneyland, but the breakfast is a plus at embassy suites and cocktail hour.

Another hotel a close walk to. Disneyland is Portafino. It offers family suites with bunk bed in the back section with separate TV. The down side is no dining at this hotel, but if your planning on dining in the parks or at Disney downtown this is an option. This is walking distance to the park.

Another we like is Hilton Anaheim. A very nice pool area and nice dining options ... Bus service to the park

Are you talking about the Mickey & Friends tram? If so, how do you get to the tram area without going all the way to Magic Way?

For the OP, I missed where you said you'd paid $85 for the Fairfield. I've never seen rates that low there. Even $139 would be the low side of their normal rates.

Yes, the Mickey & Friends tram. We walked from Ball Rd. down Disneyland Dr. There is a crosswalk to go over to the parking garage (or stay on DL side and continue on to DTD). That crosswalk might be Magic Dr....? you do have to backtrack a bit to the tram stop. I guess Walnut St. goes through from Ball Rd. to Magic Way...? (we went the other way)....that whole area is pretty sparsely populated as previously stated.

We also stay at the Candy Cane Inn. 10 minute walk to the parks but they also offer a free shuttle. Nice rooms, beautiful landscaping, free parking and the free breakfast is nice. The staff is friendly and efficient. We enjoy this place!

We are coming in mid October and going to DL for one day as part of our honeymoon. I was looking at the Hilton south of Disneyland. Anyone have any experience with staying there?

I wanted something that was semi-nice and decently close to DL. I also wanted something that had a restaurant and/or quick food options in it as we will be coming and going to a lot of different areas of Anaheim and at a lot of different times over the course of our three day stay there.

Is this hotel in that ballpark?

Thank you for posting this. I will be visiting my daughter in California this September and I booked a room at the Best Western park Place hoping it was a good choice! We only have 2 days there so I wanted to be close! Are there any resteraunts close by as well? thanks!

We are going to be staying at the newly opened Springhill Suites on Ball Rd. next week.

(It would be cool if you could walk through the M&F parking structure since there is an entrance for Cast Members off Ball Road, but I'm guessing not.)

It's a brand new hotel, built from the ground up, but being local I've only seen it from the outside when I visit the adjacent Post Office. Not sure if they have a restaurant. Not much nearby - an AM/PM Mini Mart, and a similar concession at the nearby Shell station.

I'm staying there in August, and I was looking on Google maps that it's literally right behind Mickey & Friends. I didn't see any open spaces where we could slip through, though, and just walk through to the parking garage to the tram. I'd much rather do that than to take my car, which I'm driving down from Oregon, down Ball and then onto Disneyland Drive to the parking structure just because I can't easily walk to the tram from the hotel.

Hotels on Ball Rd. are a long walk from the park entrance. Most are at least 10 minutes to the parking garage and you can hop on the tram to DTD close to the security gates to the Esplanade, or just continue on for another 10 minutes or so to the parks. There is not much over there on Ball Rd in the way of restaurants, convenience stores, shops, etc. It's a pretty isolated area. We stayed there once and it was a long and lonely walk to and from the parks.

We just gave this a try for a quick overnight last weekend (just visited DTD, didn't venture into the parks). We stayed at the Travelodge on Ball. Even walking to the parking garage to catch the tram was a long, lonely walk. We'll spend a little more and stay at one of the places on Harbor again next time.

Nice is somewhat in the eye of the beholder, but I'd vote Fairfield for a newish, corporate chain hotel experience. Best located too; better than HoJo or Candy Cane - almost right at the cross walk. We stayed next door at the Camelot and liked it fine but you might not consider it "nice" enough. Same for the Castle Inn and it's not located quite so close.

I have to disagree, Fairfield isn't right at the crosswalk at all. I've stayed at the Desert Inn and the Del Sol, those are almost right at the crosswalk. Fairfield is almost as far as the Hojo in my opinion (I've stayed at the Hojo and around the corner at the Quality Inn a time or two), with only two restaurants and a small street between them. I'm not saying that Fairfield is a horrible walk, but I think saying that it's almost right at the crosswalk is misleading.

Hojo and Ramada Maingate ATP are the nicest ones I've stayed at in walking distance. I stayed in Deluxe rooms at both.
