We are planning a trip in August to use up a few days left on our Military passes. We normally stay on site (AK, BC, Cont, and PO both RS and FQ). We are interested in staying off site this time as we would may hit Legoland or Universal (and we want a car). Which Marriott is the nicest, we normally stay at the JW or the Ritz when we are down there and not hitting Disney. Should I stick with either one of those or can I find a better price elsewhere (I need very clean). We prefer Marriott so we can add to our points (taking the Es to Maui next year). TIA

The two Marriotts you mentioned are the most expensive in the area. The Marriott Orlando World Center has an amazing pool area, and it extremely close to the WDW gates. Not sure how many are in your family, but if you have more than 2 people, you may want to consider the Marriott Vacation Club properties, such as Royal or Sabal Palms. They are on the same piece of property as the World Center if you want to be close to Disney. If you aren't going to Disney at all and want to be a bit closer to Universal or Sea World, the Cypress Harbour and Grande Vista vacation club resorts get great reviews. You might really enjoy the extra space, kitchen and laundry, too.

You can't lose with Marriott as the quality is always at a high standard. If you want room, you'll love a Marriott vacation club villa and there are many to choose from in Orlando. Our favorite is Cypress harbor as it is just the right size and very beautiful with a great location. The others are great as well and have strengths depending on what you are looking for. My familiy and I have been to many of them. marriott just built a new one which looks great as well.

You named the nicest Marriotts near Disney.

Although for $90/night, I really did enjoy my stay at the SHS in the Marriott Village. Close to the parks and clean.

Marriott World Center is close, but really showing it's age. The pool area is great (my dcs love the novelty of an indoor pool) but even the newer rooms are in need of some new paint, carpet, furniture, etc.

If you do go, make sure and ask for a tower room, don't let them put you in one of the "wings".

The JW/Ritz is the nicest in the area.

We're gold elite Marriott card holders, we also try to stay at one of those properties when we can.

Fairfield Inn at LBV is right at the back gate of DTD. Rates are around $95. Went through a refurb 4 months ago.
