Looking to take a trip in the next year or two where it would be more about R&R at the resort, than it would be about the parks(even though there will be a few park days). IMO, I am going to get more bang for my buck staying off-site, and was looking for some recommendations in the $200-250 range.

I'd prefer to stay away from timeshare rentals where I am subjected to sales pitches, and no housekeeping.

Thx!

YOu have to shop around but I have gotten the following for less then your budget (and all were nicer then Disney hotels at the $250 price point IMHO)

1. Swan/Dolphin. If you can get a discount these are great. Good location, heavenly beds
2. Hilton Bonnet Creek. ANother good location, great pool newer hotel
3. JW Marriott Great pool, very nice hotel (Outragous parking costs however)
4. Marriott Vacation Club units. If you just rent them via the Marriott.com webpage there's no timeshare sales pitch involved.
5. Hilton Downtown Disney. Gives you the Extra Magic Hours perk if you want that.
6. Marriott village hotels. (Well below you budget but I like them!)
7. Hyatt Cypress Creek Beautiful grounds.

SOme of these at rack rate are over you budget but using AAA and other discounts or just sales on their home pages I have gotten all of them at less then you budget.

I would expect the Hilton Vacation Club units work like Marriott if you just reserve without a timeshare hook, but I am not sure as I haven't tried them.

Thanks! I have plenty of time to research, so I appreciate you listing multiple resorts!

Of the PP list we've only stayed at the Hilton at Downtown Disney for 1 night a few years ago and we loved it. Have always said we'd like to stay there again one day. They had an awesome pool and we go to do a dive in movie the night we stayed and had a blast.

We also own at Hilton Grand Vacation Club and although theres the possibility of a timeshare spiel, they are not the "high pressure" type spiels and their rooms and grounds rival Disney in my opinion.

I would second the above poster and recommend the Hyatt Grand Cypress. We stayed there last October for three nights and we loved it. The resort was just getting finished with a total renovation and the rooms were great with a very nice new bathroom. The pool area is very large and lush with lots of loungers and a fun water slide. It would be my 1st choice if staying offsite.

I also would concur with the above poster that you can actually probably get a room there under your budget- just keep checking around. Hyatt runs several sales promos through the year and if you have AAA or Costco, they both have special rates there. I think we paid $109/night last year. Also their rates seemed to go down as we got closer to check-in so keep checking back.

We just got home from WDW and, for the first time, stayed offsite. We LOVED Wyndham Grand Olrando Bonnet Creek!!! (the hotel, not the timeshare). The resort was absolutely beautiful, the beds were comfy, the room was quiet and the entire resort was immaculate. We got our rates through Priceline and they were way less than your budgeted amount. :yay:

I'm so glad to read that pugtails66! We've booked the Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek for June and we can't wait to stay there:goodvibes

Waldorf or Hilton Bonnet Creek. Both are over on rack rate but frequently can be booked within your budget with discounts.

There should be lots of resorts but I am not sure what amenities you are looking for. If you have time check out Gaylord Palms.

Also, the universal resorts are nice, especially if you would enjoy the Citywalk area. You don't have to go into the universal parks.

Another vote for the Waldorf Astoria Orlando. A truly incredible resort, and incredibly convenient to WDW (surrounded on 3 sides). Depending on season might be hard to snag in your budget, but the Hilton next door shares the same facilities and is a great back up plan:thumbsup2

For value I don't thing you can do much better than Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa, you should check it out.
