My DD's will be turning 21 in August. They both seem to like wearing a pretty watch, but typically buy them at Target, etc., since they are college students and poor! :)

I would like to get each of them a watch, spending about $100 or so each. Does anyone have a suggestion of a nice brand in that price range? One of them is a nursing student, so definitely needs something on the durable side with a second hand.

Thanks!

I second Fossil or Coach (will be more than $100 though). The leather watches from coach are classy and timeless.

Take a look at Skagen. Might be a little more than $100, but they are very pretty and comfortable to wear.

I love my Seiko. It has a stainless steel band so the finish won't fade or wear off. Also the face is made of sapphire and is extremely difficult to scratch.
I'm not a nurse but I do work in radiology and anything on or near my hands take a beating.
I've been wearing it 24/7 except for showering for 8 yrs and you'd never know it. It does have a second hand if she needs one. It was a gift from dh so I have no idea about the price.

I bought my watch at Kohl's with a 30% coupon and free shipping. They are worth checking out because you may be able to get a more expensive watch for a good discount. I have always liked Seiko and Citizen. My current watch is an Armitron that I fell in love with because the face is surrounded by rainbow gems. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know. LOL

I also submit Fossil as a good choice. It's what my DD19 chose when she decided to get a nice watch.

I have a fossil watch that I have worn for years. I think it was about $50 back about 20 years ago! It has been great. They have some good quality things for a decent price.

I love my Mickey watches. I have a Citizen Eco Drive (solar powered) with Mickey and it's been going for well over 10 years. The leather band had to be replaced once. I also have a metal band Mickey one that I don't use as often but I think still works once I give it a solar charge. I don't know if they still have the Mickey contract and if they're still available but I LOVE mine and it was definitely under $100. I think I paid around $50 (and I thought that was a lot at the time, but now I know it was so worth it).

The outlets nearby us have a Seiko store. Lots of watches in the $100 range. If you're near the outlets, I'd choose this

I love my fossil watch. If you have an outlet close, they're usually 50% off retail.

I agree with those that said Fossil. I've had a couple and they are great watches. There's so many different styles as well. I typically get a metal band, and I think these were the ones that I could take links out myself, they clasp on ad off instead of using pins, which was helpful.

I also like Kenneth Cole watches. The Citizen eco watches are great too, I love not having to worry about the battery but I'm not familiar enough to know if it would fit the budget.

DW just bought herself a new watch, had a devil of a time finding $100 watches. Jewelry stores has the $500+ watches, Target and Kohls and Walmart has the $25 watches.
We stumbled upon the largest selection of watches.....believe it or not....at JCPENNEY.

Neiman Marcus Last Call has good deals on watches. I bought some really nice Michael Kors watches for a little over $100 each.

Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone. We do live within about an hour's drive of a couple outlet malls, so I will definitely give those a shot.

Michael Kors watches are quite popular but they may break your budget. I know that is a brand that younger and older (like me) love!

I was going to suggest Michael Kors too since it seems to be one of the most popular brands amongst college aged girls. But, they're a little pricey even at the outlet. You MIGHT snatch one up for $125 but it's rare. Even on sale they're usually $140 and up. I love mine. Always getting compliments!
