All right experts. I need to know, what is the absolute cheapest hotel around Walt Disney World. I want one that is close, no bed bugs, no transients in the parking lot, no partying next door, clean, oh yeah and clean and cheap. Thanks any advice appreciated....

We stayed at Buena Vista Suites for one night before checking into SSR this past July. Very close to DTD and free breakfast buffet.

Here is a link with other reasonably priced hotels near and around WDW. Not sure when you are going or how many people are in your party.

Look into the Clarion at Lake Buena Vista. We stayed there one night in Oct for $39 and it was decent. No bed bugs but we did find a huge palmetto bug in the bathroom, but hey, it's Florida and otherwise seemed clean!

Also check travelzoo.com and bookit.com for deals.

Just spent a few nights at the Sheraton Safari. Got it for $40 through Priceline. We were very pleasantly suprised. Super quiet, pool area outstanding for that price, and extremely close to DTD.

Use Priceline and shoot for 3* or above. You can usually get something for $30-$40/night going that route, and you can choose the area you want.

We also love the Sheraton Safari by DTD. It's the hotel we always use when we need to stay a night or two offsite. We always stay for free on Starwoods points so not sure other than Priceline, etc. how cheap you could get it.

How do you get a particular area with priceline? I've never done it because I thought it would just give you a general area, like within a zipcode. Can you specify that you want it near WDW?

THere are 13 different zones to choose from in Orlando. They have a Disney Maingate one, a West Disney one, A Kissimmee one and a Downtown Disney one. I haven't bid when I was staying near Disney, but I did use PL for our Universal trip and used the Universal zone. We got the Hyatt Place right across the street for $30/night there.

I stayed at the Golden Link Motel for 3 nights about 2 weeks ago. Overall, I would recommend staying there, especially if you're looking for a place that you don't expect resort amenities or plan on spending a great deal of time in the room.

The room was very clean (and I did a thorough check for bedbugs) and had a microwave and mini-fridge, as well as free wi-fi. Also, no "palmetto bugs" (the Florida term for cockroaches) were seen. The motel itself is located near a number of restaurants and had both a Publix and Super Walmart within 5 minutes drive. It was about 15 minutes drive to WDW on 192, a bit less on Osceola Parkway (toll road). Including tax, it came out to about $41.50/night. There were no shady characters hanging out anywhere near the motel, and it was very quiet, both in the room and parking lot. The staff were pleasant.

For the downside, I found the lighting in the room to be a bit inadequate (it felt kind of dim to me even with all lights on), the TV was small (maybe 19 inches) and nearly impossible to view from one of the beds, the decor to be outdated (but clean), and one of the two beds in the room was a bit hard for my taste.

If you're interested in trying Priceline/Hotwire, you may want to check out www.betterbidding.com. I'm planning a return trip to WDW next month, and would not have any problems with staying at the Golden Link again, but am also planning to investigate Priceline/Hotwire before making a final decision. There seem to be a number of "good" hotels reasonably priced available through these sites, but they seem to be mixed with some that generally have quite negative reviews.
