Driving down in three weeks from Wisconsin. We need a nice clean, cheap hotel around the Atlanta area just off the interstate. Does anyone know of one and which exit or area it is at? Thanks!

We are also driving in 2.5 weeks to WDW from WI!! It is our first time driving and we are following a AAA trip tik that has us going thru Alabama on 65, not thru Atlanta. Do you know something I don't know??? I have to thank you for you AKL post earlier. It helped me convince the family that this is where we wanted to stay.....how could a fellow Wisconsinite be wrong???

Alabama? I have driven down with my family as a child (every year at Easter to see Grandparents in Sarasota), and many times as an adult from Wisconsin, and we have never gone through Alabama. Always took the Interstate though Atlanta. A more direct route and faster I think. The trick is to get into the Atlanta area late in the evening (which works from Wisconsin), and drive through very eary in the morning leaving to avoid the traffic. Do you know something I don't know about road construction or something with your trip tik? By the way, my parents live in Sussex! I am there all the time. Only an hour away from our home!

I am so excited you are staying at AKL! That is my favorite place in all of WDW! I am driving down with a good friend who's daughter was accepted into the WDW college program. She has to be there by the 21st. Afterwards, we are staying at the All Star Music. She has never been to Florida, much less Walt Disney World. I am showing her the world, and we are soooooo excited! It is so much fun going with someone who has never been. Makes it all fresh for yourself! I would stay at AKL, but this is a quickie and cheap trip as I have had no time to save up really. Just found out two weeks ago we're going! Let me know why Alabama???!!!

Still wondering about hotels in the Atlanta area??

The AAA trip tik has us taking 65 thru Indianapolis, Nashville, Birmingham, to Montgomery Al. Then you pick up Hwy 231 to I-10 and then I-10 to 75. This route you completely miss Atlanta. The estimated time is 20:30 hrs and I don't see anything noted regarding construction. Is this longer then your route?? Whats your ETA from Wi to Atlanta? We are leaving between 4 and 5pm and "hopefully" driving thru.

Did you try entertainment or hoteldiscounts.com for rooms near Atlanta?

I live in Alabama, and my advice would be to stick to the interstate. Once you get to Birmingham, get off I-65 and go East on I-20, then south on I-75 at Atlanta. Those smaller roads they are recommending are two lanes and very small.

FYI there is a Sleep Inn about 15 miles West of Atlanta right off I-20 in Douglasville, GA that is very nice and very reasonably priced. We have stayed there several times when visiting Six Flags.
