Niagra Falls - Flying into Toronto and going over the border to stay in Niagra Falls - any tips?

Staying two nights then two nights in Gettysburg before going to Washington DC for 3 nights. What are the must sees in Niagra Falls?

Absolutely nothing to see but the falls. Stay in the Canadian side.

on the Canadian side there are some hotels that have really nice views of the falls in the balcony rooms, really nice to relax and watch the light shows from the comfort of your room.

The Canadian side is rather touristy... think beach town carnival atmosphere.... but interesting for a night with lots of shops and restaurants

Besides the Falls...go visit Niagara on the Lake...great little town about 20 minutes from the Falls area with great restaurants/pubs/shopping. When we went, we asked the people working the hotel desk, where the Locals go, and without hesitation 3 different people at the desk said to go out to Niagara on the Lake.

Another vote for staying on the Canadian side of the falls. Hotels there offer spectacular views of the falls. Be sure to see them at night as well!

For me, it’s not a trip to Niagara Falls without a walk up and down Clifton Hill.
But I like tacky, touristy things.
Clifton Hill is on the Canadian side.

If you want just tourist things stay in Canada.
If you want more local history and culture etc then stay in the USA.
See the falls, try beef on weck, eat real wings, learn about the Erie canal, go to a Buffalo sports team game...
In the US Niagara Falls is just a city and you can very quickly/easily get to other local cities to do local stuff.

For a quick meal, definitely try Tim Hortons. Delicious iced Capps and sandwiches to enjoy!

On the American side… there really isn’t much to offer other than an aquarium. Most of the fun stuff is on the Ontario side (which I visited back in 2012 on my way to my cousins for the summer).

We are now staying on the Canadian Side....also diverting to see the Flight 93 memorial enroute to Gettysburg. Really looking forward to Gettysburg....... a major site regarding US history and Washington DC too.

The Flight 93 Memorial was one of the most moving experiences we've ever had.
