Everyone is so friendly on these boards, I thought I would get some opinions on Niagara Falls. We are thinking of taking a quick trip during my son's spring break the last week in March, we are from Ohio so its not too bad a drive. We have only been in the summer, is there much to do this time of year? We usually stay at the Marriott so the view is excellent and DS and DD will probably just be happy swimming in the pool. Do the fireworks run all year long? Will the falls be lit? Any comments?

Thanks!

We just did a package on Dec. 26 where we stayed at one of the hotels attached to the indoor Fallsview Water Park. You can use the water park from 9 am on the day you arrive until 3 pm on the day you leave. There are three hotels to choose from that have heated walkways attached to the water park. I would not recommend this water park to people who don't like water slides or have children under 5 or 6. Our kids are almost 6 and 9, and we knew ahead of time they like water parks, and they did have a great time.

Another option is Great Wolf Lodge, which some people prefer to Fallsview, however Great Wolf Lodge is away from the falls and the "strip". The Fallsview water park is right there near the falls and all the restaurants, etc.

If you are interested, you should read the tripadvisor reviews. I think the Sheraton, one of the hotels attached to the Fallsview water park, has falls views.

Whatever you decide, have a great time!

Can you see the falls from the Sheraton? My kids do love waterparks, we were actually going to stop at one on the way back.

Hello, just chiming in. We are also from OH and would HIGHLY recomend the Sheraton, you have a GREAT view of the falls, if you req a "falls view" room. Rates there are very reasonable too. I would just also req a "higher" floor too. It feels like you are in the falls if you are on the forth floor or higher.
If you have any specific questions on the Resort, please feel free to ask.

being from Ontario, I highly recommend visiting the Fall, Canadian side. I have stayed at Great Wolf and it is fantastic, yet expensive! If you can get a rate of around $200 Canuck bucks, take it as it is more fun than Fallsview for the waterpark. And yes, it does not overlook the strip, but you can also take a short drive and park your car to walk it. There is tons to do up and down the strip for all ages, cool museums, attractions, and of course if you can do it Maid of the Mist!

Hi there,
There are two Sheraton's both with views of the Falls. The Sheraton Fallview Convention center is near the Marriot on Fallsview Ave. It has an ok pool. Durning March Break they ususally have the ballroom set up for kids with a few jump-n-bounces, crafts and movies. They'll usually have special guests such as reptile tamers.

The Sheraton with the waterpark is attached to Casino Niagara.

There's also Great Wolf Lodge which I hear is nice and The Americana which both have water parks.

Yes, the Falls are light up every night. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the fireworks. I hear them several times a week. They've been going off at 9pm for the winter season. Usually they'll be on Sunday's or Friday's.

The Butterfly conservatory is open year round for details (and other places to see) visit the Niagara Parks Commission's web site.

Thanks all, I knew I would get some good advice here, the Sheraton looks like a great spot connected to the waterpark, fallsview, what more do we need:goodvibes

KimmyDisneyNerd we are going to the world in October too, the Niagara trip is to hold us over til then:)

While the Falls are lit up at night, every night, fireworks are only shown on special days/events. The website shows no fireworks in March.

The last week of March should find crowds at a lower point, as Ontario has their March Break the second week of March (and Niagara Falls will be very busy the 2nd week of March).
