Last night the Packers played (crappy games, but we pulled it out!), but it was on the NFL Network. We got the game locally in Green Bay, thank goodness. But the coverage was CRUD!!! Give me FOX, give me NBC, give me ESPN, but please, for the love of GOD no more NFL Network!! Bryan Gumble is like nails on a chalkboard! Everytime they showed a field goal, the camera was behind the kicker, making it look like 92 yard field goals! There was a measurement at one point, and the cameras were on a close up (like EXTREME closeup) of one of the coaches, and the only way we knew the Packers got the first down was because Chalkboard Nails had to tell us.

After watching this last night, I am glad we don't have the NFL network all the time. I love watching any football games, but not on that channel!

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Compared to the bozos they have on MNF (Joe and Tony in particular), Brian and Chris are like a breath of fresh air. Joe Theisman is the worst commentator EVER. Period. He makes up fact after fact out of his head, almost always contradicting himself, and basically just sounding like a bafoon. Tony Cornheiser (sp), only seems to be on the show just to argue with Joe. Plus, they are so baised it isn't even funny. They always seem to like one player / team, and that is all they talk about. It's like the other team isn't even there.
Brian Gumbal (sp) isn't my favorite announcer, but man oh man is he better than anything on MNF. I also think that Chris Collinsworth does a very good job.
I also think that the NFL Network games seem to focus more on the game, instead of celebrity all-stars, or celebrity watching. Don't forget, they have only done a couple of real games, and are still learning. Some of the camera angles and shots are probably experiments to see how they look.

I agree, they are brutal. Gumble and Collingsworth are terrible announcers and the coverage has a distinct radio feel to it.

You are right on about MNF but I still don't believe the other two are any better.

Just be glad you can get the game.!!!! I grew up in GB, love the Packers and usually get 5-6 games per year. (This year only the Bear/Packers games and one other) The way the networks are going, they are not showing any other division games on Sundays -- only teams outside our conference. Also, we don't have NFL network on our cable lineup unless you get the most expensive digital package for 90.00 per month --- No thanks!!!

I listened to the game on the radio (fuzzy signal from Milwaukee), and was happy to get good Packer announcers.

I will agree that I don't care (much) for the MNF guys, but Bryan Gumbel just ruined everything for me last night! I do like Chris Collinsworth, he is decent. I understand the NFL network has not broadcast many games, but at times I felt like I was watching the local camera crews that do the pre-season games!

The broadcasts on NFL network are pathetic. The graphics are terrible, and camera work and editing are awful, and Gumbel is almost embarrassing. As a play-by-play guy he is just terrible.

ESPN is only slightly better. They have ruined MNF. Tirico is great but Theissman and Kornheiser are really bad. And are all the guests in broadcast booth really necessary? Do we really need to hear 4 voices at once while we are trying to watch a game?

And am I the only one that has to change the channel during their "Jacked Up" Segment during half time. The clips are fun to watch, but listening to the them scream "Jacked Up" every 10 seconds is unbearable.

This is what I see happening next year (or at least hoping for). Brian will be gone, replaced with a more "football" kind of guy. NFL Network will continue to experiment with camera angles, shots, and different gadgets for another year or so (remember what Fox did by adding the yellow first down line, and then the red line of scrimmage), I think the NFL Network is looking for something new like that, and will keep trying different things.
I hope they keep Jamie Dukes (the really big guy who gives the updates on Sunday), he is one of the most entertaining commentators I have ever seen. I hope they get rid of both Deonne Sanders and Marshal Faulk, and get two new guys - one with less personality, and one with more.
And I hope they add more games to their schedule (after all, regardless of the commentator, isn't more football a good thing?)

My TV stays on the NFL network alot. I agree Gumbel and Collinsworth are pretty lame, but any channel that tries to bring more NFL football into our lives is a GREAT thing. I agree they could do things better, but give them a chance, their a brand new network, still working out the bugs.

I love their monicre, Football 24/7 :thumbsup2

I'm just mad that they have them on that Network at all. Very few people can get that channel, and at least in my area, you have to pay more to get it. It's worse than haivng games on ESPN that some people cannot see because they don't have basic cable.

Thats just how it is with new channels, I would imagine by next year it will be on more basic cable packages.

I agree with you there. NFL Network charges cable companies such an exhorbinant amount, no one wants to carry it!
