There was some uncertainty about whether or not you can "walk" the race. In fact you certainly can do so, and as I understand it, plenty of people do.
The 5K is 3.1 miles. It's required that participants maintain a 15 minute per mile pace, which is a fairly brisk walk (set the treadmill at 4 mph to get a feel).
The half marathon, 13.1 miles, you can even do the same thing. Here you have to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace.
At risk of borrowing a page from several other podcasters, I bet if you (Pete) were to do the half marathon, even if you walked almost the entire thing, for the benefit of Give Kids the World, I think quite a few listeners would support you.
In the interest of trying to prod you, as well as the listeners, I'll offer up a $100 donation to GKTW if you commit to giving it a go for the half.
