Next DVC Project? -- Animal Kingdom Lodge -- Picture of Notice

That was my question, I am new here so maybe someone already knows and I have a silly question  but here goes ...

When Disney builds/remodels at a regular hotel (anything that is not a DVC resort) do they obtain contracts/permits under a different name? Something other than DVD? :confused3 I am all for VAKL or CRV, I think both would be great .. although I am hoping for something at DLR sometime too! pixiedust:

we now return you to your regularly scheduled thread .... popcorn::

I'm pretty sure these days it would have to go under the corporate name... Disney Vacation Development (that's what I've found the other notices under). And all the ROFR waivers, and new sales, and liens, etc...

I was searching to see if they have submitted the paperwork to begin construction, but nothing yet... doesn't really require a permit to plan on what you might do... of course they could probably work some deals with the county to delay reporting things... :confused3

I just booked 2 standard concierge rooms this morning & once again received wrong information. I was told they were on the 5th & 6th floor. $384 per room with AAA discount is a bargin but I may change it.

Here's a post I made re: rumors I heard from several AKL CMs while down in June: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1184448 about AKL DVC and the CL refurb.

We stayed CL on the 5th floor Arusha Savannah, just to the left of the lobby (facing the savannah). Each day we passed a room (around 5210 or 12) that was in MAJOR rehab - does anyone know if that room is a suite (I think it had double doors)? Maybe that is where they are building the DVC model room - it would make perfect sense - first room off the lobby (convenient & very impressive location - right over the 'bridge' and that amazing view from above the lobby), overlooking Arusha Rock and the savannah! Looks like I'd better start saving sooner rather than later for AKL DVC :thumbsup2 !! :smooth:

there is a "Broadway" street in SSR - my guess is that the Disney Cinema Building is the theater there and they are going to have model rooms inside of it so they can utilize the rooms in the Springs for guests. Or maybe they will build mock-ups of whatever the next resort will be to show until the models are ready there. ???

I spoke to my sales person today and asked about Contemporary DVC...she didn't know but she indicated that there was temporary orange fencing around the Cinema bldg where they were going to build model rooms for the next DVC resort. She didn't know where the resort was going to be but that they would build model rooms at SSR so they can sell the new resort while they are finishing out SSR.

My guide told me in January that DVD spent a lot of $$ on the offices and infrastructure there at SSR, with the assumption that they would be able to continue to sell all DVC properties from that location - which maybe speaks to why they might mock up some rooms for the next property there near the Cinema. Interesting...

Here's my question if I'm following this thread correctly (although it is late) - what will happen to the AKL CL if DVC takes over? It seems like that is a pretty highly regarded concierge lounge/staff/service - I wouldn't think they would want to give that up, too. Do you think it would just be relocated to another area of the resort?

I do hope this rumor is true though - we would be so torn as to where to add on! Might need to win the lottery! :teeth:

definitely win the lottery....

boy both resorts as a DVC.... :cool1: :thumbsup2 :sunny:

I would need to buy COnt first, but I want AKl, too....

I guess I could let go of some of my OKW.....don't know. but before I do anything I will patience wait for DVC to say which they are doing and which one first....

That room is the largest suite at AKL...
For something really special book the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath Royal Assante Suite with over 2,115 square feet of exotic luxury. Enter the rounded foyer where you’ll find a circular living room with a domed thatched roof, hardwood floors, exquisite African furnishings and artwork, queen sleeper sofa, easy chairs, dining table for eight, granite kitchen, armoire with extra-large TV, fireplace, writing desk, and half bath. There’s also a separate office. In the king-bedded master is a stylishly rustic four-poster bed with mosquito net draping, plenty of built-in cabinets and bureau space with TV and DVD player, desk, easy chair and ottoman, oversized whirlpool tub, double-sinked granite vanity area with TV, huge separate shower, and walk-in closet; there’s even a treadmill on the balcony. And from the wraparound balconies are sweeping views of the savanna. The second bedroom is a standard room with 2 queen beds.

They could be just rehabbing (is that a word?) it or maybe.... pure speculation here...... changing it into the new CL lounge??? It would be in a nice spot and closer to, what would then be concierge rooms???

Oh no!

First we see information about my dream resort, the Contemporary Villas. Now we see information about my husband's dream resort, AKL Villas. There is not enough money in our budget for both, even if we sell one of our contracts .

However, the paperwork filed with the Orange County Comptroller lists Disney Vacation Development (DVC) as the one doing the project to build "models". So they are definately doing up "models" for something.

Yah, I think I got myself confused. I was thinking that suite was on the 4th floor when I postulated that thought. I was wondering what would happen to the concierge guests if DVD takes over the 5 and 6th floor? or are they only taking over part of the 5th? Where would the concierge lounge go? Most (40 out of 55) concierge rooms were on the 5 floor already...

Also are there deluxe rooms on the 5th floor on the shorter wings (near the bus stop and delivery area)? I thought I had read that they are not deluxe on those wings.

I don't know the answer to all those questions, but the paperwork filed by DVD indicates that they are modifying 3 "bays" on the 5th floor. I'm not sure what a "bay" represents on the 5th floor... 3 rooms, 3 suites, etc...

Wow! VAKL would be so awesome!! DH, the kids and I all love the AKL. I hope these rumors get announced soon! :)

Wow---simultaenous rumors about 3 new DBC's..CRV, VAKL, and V@DLR...and each of them seem to have some merit...permits, pictures, and the like....

*sigh* so many DVCs, so little points... :goodvibes
